I drive past every day and this weekend I finally decided to try this place! Came in for lunch around 1 PM on a Saturday. There were a few people eating at a table there, and some people finishing up ordering, which gave me time to look at the menu. They also have a cafeteria style food which looked delicious but I was not confident about ordering it. But I had seen good reviews for the cubano so I ordered that with everything on it, along side a soursop smoothie (water based, they have the option for milk) and fried yuca. All together it was around $20. I say and waited at a table and and had my very freshly made food in a few minutes. They have some casual indoor seating and a nice outdoor seating area with a few tables for people who want to eat immediately. The cubano was delicious. There was a generous amount of meat, great flavor, and really filling. I only ate half of it, saving the rest for later. The fried yuca was hot out of the fryer, tasted good and crispy. Little salt added and I forgot to grab some sauce while I was there so I ate it with some hot sauce I have. I also liked the smoothie a lot. This is authentic, folks. I love Spanish food and had tried to find a REAL authentic Spanish restaurant for quite some time. This was recommended by a friend and they were spot on! I had the chicken empanadas and they were cooked to perfection. The dulce the leche cake had guava on top and was PERFECT. They also make their own ice cream on site, which was cool. Flavors like coconut, watermelon, rum raisin, bubble gum and even chocolate covered bananas. My only regret is I didn't have more! I know sometimes people are leery about visiting Spanish restaurants due to not speaking Spanish... no worries here, folks. The staff is bilingual and you won't have an issue. This is A+! read more

Since starting working in East Haven about 2 years ago it has been a challenge finding a good latin restaurant. I found this gem thanks to UberEat. Is a very small establishment deli style. They have a hot food buffet daily were you can pick your rice, your meats and side. They also offer a menu and have a variety of cuisines (Mexican, Ecuadorian mostly) My to go here are chicharrón (pork belly) and their South American style empanadas are delish and they offer sweet and savory. Just know they're not like a Puerto Rican empanada (Caribbean style) Service is usually quick although it gets busy around lunchtime. Friendly service. Definitely in rotation of places for a quick lunch when I don't bring my own lunch. read more

Just tried this place for the first time. The food was excellent I got the Cuban and fried yucca both were great. I was greeted quickly and my order was taken and made within 5 minutes. The staff were all very friendly. I took my order to go but they did have a few tables you could sit down and eat and the whole place was clean and well taken care of. I was in CVS pharmacy and they were talking about empanadas. Being from Queens, NY I love Mamas Empanadas. So I asked where in New Haven/East Haven are empanadas. Turns out this Latin Deli, walking distance from CVS, makes them. I drive by this place but was never inside. It's a gem hiding in plain sight. They have a small hot bar of soups & stews; they make their own Gelato and Sorbet pops; they serve breakfast and have a fairly decent menu. The empanadas are not like Mamas. Mamas is a standout chain. These are normal & that's okay. I'll be back to try their Cuban sandwich. And Quesadilla. And home-made Pops.... well you see where this is going....LOL. read more

This is a great spot for lunch. I actually have never visited the restaurant but I have ordered from them via Uber Eats, and I do it pretty regularly. They have a great assortment of different empanadas. Even though they aren't exactly authentic, their steak and cheese empanadas are FANTASTIC. They have a good amount of filling and the are always crispy. They are really tasty. My other favorite go to is the Bandeja Paisa. There is a ton of food included. A large chicarron, churiso, piece of grilled beef, rice, egg, avocado, arepa, and a plantain. I usually have some left over if I decide not to gorge myself into a food coma. Best Cuban I ever had! Visiting from Florida and I needed something quick to eat and I stopped by! Glad I did! Homemade and delicious food!

I used to love this place but after consistently giving them business I found that they were never welcoming or thankful for my constant support. My Beef was tender and not dry at all but I did think they were a little stingy with the portion. Rice was average Spanish. COCO drink was the highlight of the meal! I found a little gem looking for something to pick up on the way home I was driving by and that I saw was the Deli I turned around and to my delight it was a Latino Deli something different in side was very clean must be family owned good size menu Hot and Cold sandwiches I had a near perfect Cuban sandwich with Ham and shreds of pulled pork beyond good in my opinion I asked about the side dishes I was offered fry's,onion rings was offered I guess I had that gringo look my choice was the rice and beans from the steam table it was a great pick now here is one of the best parts if anybody knows how hard it is to get a parking space on Main St you will be delighted to know the Deli has a good size parking lot with a ramp entrance or walk up 4 steps to the main door.
