We stopped by for dinner on a Friday night and sat at the bar. Having never been here before, we were unsure as to what to expect. The staff was very friendly when we entered. The manager, Alejandra who was tending the bar, was especially attentive and super-friendly as well. The drinks were mixed well and very flavorful. The food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. The maduro con queso, the shredded beef arepa and the empanadas were all a big hit, and we all raved how good everything was. The place has a nice, comfortable vibe and the music was great - not too loud. If you enjoy the offerings at the nearby restaurant "Ola", then you're going to love this place. The service was fantastic from start to finish, and I truly felt welcomed by the friendly staff. I visited with a couple of friends to watch the Colombian soccer game , and we enjoyed some drinks and food together. I highly recommend the picada! We ordered a small one with guacamole and a larger one that included tostones, yuca, and arepa. Everything was delicious, especially the chicken, steak, and chorizo meats. I was really disappointed with my visit to Sabores Orange, which took over what used to be La Fonda Colombiana. La Fonda was a great spot -- authentic food, warm atmosphere, and always fresh. Unfortunately, this new place doesn't live up to that standard at all. To start, there were no English menus available, which made ordering confusing. During my visit, I actually killed three flies inside the restaurant -- and there were several more buzzing around. That alone was a bad sign. The food didn't redeem the experience either. The calamari was over-fried and far from fresh. The dish with ground beef was literally ground into a dust-like texture -- completely unappetizing. The beans were cold, and the empanadas were hard, stale, and clearly re-fried; they even had an unpleasant taste. The mango juice, which I hoped would save the meal, was also a miss. Overall, it was a terrible experience from start to finish. I won't be coming back. Whatever happened between La Fonda Colombiana and Sabores Orange is truly disappointing -- the old restaurant was far better in every way. read more

Don't judge the restaurant by the plaza it is in. They are doing the best they can by being the most colorful thing in there by far. Trust the very good ratings they have. Everything we had was very good and we had plenty on our plates with the lunch special, so I imagine you have to be starving to be able to consume the dinner portions. The soup that came with most of the specials was very tasty. Pro tip: throw some of the white rice in it and stir that bad boy. The tres leches were very moist and delicious, especially the maracuyá (passion fruit) one. The service was decent. The drinks took a little long to arrive from the first order and the question on how we want the thin steaks cooked was a bit puzzling because they are typical Latin cuisine thin steaks so there's no much meat room to work with but otherwise it was good enough. This small hidden gem we stumbled on by accident. Searching for another eatery, we saw this restaurant and decided to try it. Despite its size and appearance, the food and service was excellent. We have since been back many many times. I love their chicken soup and have often taken one to go after my meal. The plantain's are excellent, the veggies freshly steamed and the flavors of the meals were terrific. The seafood is fresh and cooked well, we truly haven't had a bad meal here. Empanadas: not too salty, very nice crispy. The corn is a bit on the thicker side, but it does not ruin the empanada, left to preference. Great comfort food, Bubbles drink: tasty, great strawberry flavor without tasting too artificial or sweet. Still, very much on the sweet side. Their signature drink was very good! I didn't know how I would feel about it looking atth3 ingredients since I'm not a big beer drinker, but it was surprisingly light and refreshing. I liked it more than the other drink! This was a very authentic tasting spot! I ordered the mini bandeja paisa and it tasted identical to when I traveled to Colombia!! So good!! It came with choice of steak, sausage, or pork belly (I got steak and pork belly), rice with sunny side egg, avocado, arepa and beans. Very filling dish. If you picked the non mini version you would get all 3 meats. I ordered a strawberry kiwi margarita which was a flavor I don't often see and it was made just right, enough liquor and flavor. This place at first look seems nice but should be closed for business! We were enjoying our fairly portioned meal when, we start seeing cockroaches in the booth in front we were seated, I brought it to the server attention and she did nothing and right before paying I requested for the manager that way he can see where the roach was, as we show him the picture and to our surprise he never apologized for the inconvenience of exposing us to eat at a place with roach problems. A solid choice for Latin food here in CT. We got the weekend special seafood soup. The broth completely blew us away. It has a strong but clean shellfish flavor. Inside you will find a generous amount of white fish, shrimp and mussels. The shrimp was cooked perfectly (plump and juicy) which can be hard to find. The mussels were not my favorite - many of them didn't open during cooking and even if you manage to pry them open the mussel itself was tiny. I think their main purpose was to flavor the broth - a purpose they fulfilled quite effectively! On the side comes white rice and a salad with tomato, red onion and avocado. The salad had some kind of homemade lime/oil dressing which was super tasty. We also tried the empanadas. They are quite inexpensive and would make a great compliment to some drinks. The empanadas had a crispy exterior - they were clearly cooked to order. The chicken was better than the beef in my opinion. They were not too salty which is a huge plus. I can't say the same about the fried chiccaron but, hey, what did you expect!? Don't forget to order a fresh juice smoothie (get with water, not milk. Trust me.) Caught up with some friends here and our waitress was friendly and attentive. The place is very roomy and apparently they have music and dancing on certain evenings so you can expect a good atmosphere. I ordered the salmon and my friends ordered the steak&shrimp and the chicharone appetizer. We had a few margaritas, a couple of beers and shots. Overall, the food was ok, (my salmon was a little dry but my friend said her steak and shrimp was good) but the tastes didn't stand out in any of the dishes and the drinks were meh , considering we had to order quite a few just to catch a buzz. I guess the problem at the end of the day was the bill. It was well over $300 for the 3 of us and they added the gratuity automatically. I'm definitely not opposed to spend money for good food but I honestly think it was overpriced and not worth it in the end. Won't be going back anytime soon. read more

I have passed this place many times, and today to celebrate Fathers Day with my husband and our family, decided to give this place a try. Easy to get to since it's on the main road. Great parking. The entrance is nice and decorated. There was no wait because we ate there just in time for lunch. The seating area is open with a good amount of booths and tables. Our waitress was very friendly, and attentive. Family friendly for sure! The menu items all looked absolutely mouth watering delicious. We ordered the maduro con quest for an appetizer. All I could say is yummy! I had ordered the bistec a caballo which is excellent and 10/10 recommend if you're in the mood for steak. Cooked to medium perfection. The sauce on top was muy delicioso. The salad is very fresh, and their dressing was very tasty. My husband ordered the carne asada. He said "wow this is really good, but I should've ordered what you ordered". Haha. I'm telling you the sauce that was on top of my steak was very juicy and the steak absorbed those juices very well. I had a guava smoothie to drink. Tasted very fresh not canned. I received this recommendation from my sister for mothers day so decided to bring mom there. I was a little worried this place would be flooded but since its kind of off to the side it can go unnoticed. When we arrived it was busy but we were seated immediately. I don't know if it's been the new management but the girls serving the tables are completely untrained, I asked for a glass with just ice and lemon and it took forever and they didn't bring it, the lemon juice was our favorite several times we ordered it with the new management either the juice comes without sugar or it comes with a lot of sugar said the girl who served us "we serve the juice without sugar" this is crazy ! lying to my face!! everything changed the service was much better the food was much better. Purchased 2nd groupon for take out /eat in and was told I could not use it over the phone. First time i was able to order food over the phone and pay at location. 2nd time was told that i could not place order over the phone.
