We had the most awesome time rafting over the July 4th weekend! The SOC team is well organized and professional. The safety/orientation session was informative, but at the same time entertaining, keeping it interesting so we listened and felt confident and safe. The rapids were big enough to be exciting but not too big that they were scary. Each guide seemed to remember the name of everyone on their raft. Amazing! Our guide Chad had total control of the raft and was friendly and fun. The water cannon fight between rafts was a blast, especially on such a hot day! Highly recommend SOC! read more

This was, hands down, one of the most fun and exciting things we have ever done. First and foremost, this company has some of the nicest, kindest, most professional staff imaginable. These guys were wonderful every step of the way. While the experience is incredible, the great staff made this whole day truly special. Everything for our white water rafting adventure was taught to us and explained in great detail. Everyone felt comfortable. Equipment was kept in great shape, and we felt confident in the gear and the staff. The staff were also really funny, making everyone feel welcome. We rode a shuttle to our put-in site, and we carried the rafts down to the river. Shortly after, we were on the water going through class three rapids, and it was a blast! Going for a swim in the calm sections surrounded by wilderness was incredible! The water gun fights between groups was also great fun. Overall, I would do this again time and time again. I've had good time with friends and family. The Kyle-guide was knowledgeable and made us feel safe throughout the entire adventure. The scenery was breathtaking, and the rapids were manageable. Wow, what a great time we had! My family and I came to Lake George for a long weekend in the middle of Sept. Quite a few businesses had already closed for the season but we got lucky that SOC was still open. Both guides, Ben & TJ, were awesome. Very personable and made us feel so comfortable. We loved that out two kids, ages 6 & 8, were able to join us. A few other rafting places had a minimum age limit of 8/9 yrs old. The guides made this such a fun experience and my husband was very happy we were allowed out of the raft to swim in the river with little to no restrictions. We will definitely come back and will recommend this for anyone looking for a good time! read more

Exhilarating! First time white water kayaking. 12 years kayaking but all ocean and flat water. Zack my guide discussed and assessed my abilities. A moment in calm water then we're off. Absolutely a gas. Zack was always close by with encouragement. Felt skills building quickly. Equipment ( kayak, PDF, helmet & paddle) was excellent. The staff outstanding. Sorry, but really not good at all. Advertised "good for adrenaline junkies" (see their website). Supposed to be class 2 and 3 rapids. This is a "float". Class I. I might give you class 2 on a technicality, but you never actually get near it. This is ok if you have newborns, or bringing grandma. I have teenagers who rafted class II and III before but this was ridiculous. Total boredom. Terrible. I payed ahead of time for pictures......i didn't even stip to pick them up. This is for little little kids. I asked one of the staff if there was anything with actual rapids. He tried to rent me this silly blue raft and go down what we were just on! I feel like they stole $150 from me. TOTALLY BORING. read more

Overall experience was amazing. Would have given 5 stars but trip was shorter than 2 hours. If you've never gone white water rafting, this is a great start because it isn't as intense as other rafts. My family of four all of who except me have never gone rafting had the best time. It's set for 2 hours however our trip finished in an hour and a half. The staff makes sure you're comfortable especially if you can't swim. Our guide was Ed/John (he was very knowledgeable and ENTERTAINING ) took us out to the waters, after a few ripples we had a water gun fight with other rafters for about 10 mins. Afterwards we went towards a lazy river and had an opportunity to get off the raft to swim/lay on the water. I cannot swim and was scared to jump off however Our guide told me I would be 100% safe and encouraged me and my 9 yr old sister to jump in. And I am GLAD we did! The staff here takes care of you as one of their own!! After spending time in the water we hopped back on and headed back. Also, you cannot bring phones or other items on the raft which explains why there isn't much pictures for this place. You have to pay $35 for the pictures one of the guide takes (they take 5) and they're all high quality. read more

Staff is professional and friendly. Arrived onsite and filled out a mandatory waiver form, then proceeded to get our life vests. Staff was able to assist with tightening the straps. All people for the designated slot times gather around the staff and they explain the layout of the rafting trip and how the groups will be split up. During the bus ride over to the lake the staff shared safety tips on what to do *IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY*. As a first time whitewater rafter I felt very comfortable with the staff and their expertise. I never felt like I was in any danger with Tyler as our trusted guide! This was the first time our family went white water rafting so we weren't sure what to expect. We wanted it to be safe for our 11 year old but also wanted something challenging for the adults. We left slightly disappointed. We had about 10 minutes of white water rafting at the beginning and then another 10 at the end. Our guide said it was a level 2-3. I'm no expert, but it felt more like a 2 if level 1 is still water. Even tho we wanted something more adventurous, I'll still rate the overall experience at a 4 cautioning everyone to only book if you're a first timer/beginner. read more

We really had a great time and the rowing guide was young, friendly and fun. The tour building was well stocked and we liked the fact that they had rooms where we could change our clothing. The photos were great and we bought a set. They have special raft tours for kids. That is good because we hit a rapid that caused us both to hit the bottom of the raft. My husband's had flew off the 't' of his oar and the oar left a huge bruise for almost a month. If it had hit either of us in the mouth or head or if we had not been wearing a helmet - well - the damage could have been devastating. Be aware - rafting on a river is not a Disneyland ride. Make certain to wear helmets. read more

We drove 2 1/2 hrs on 7/31/21 to go tubing. (we were supposed to go Last weekend but the water was to high. I called the day b4 to make sure the water levels were going to be high they said they were to high, so we didn't go because they weren't letting go tubers go because they couldn't make cut out, was fine we went somewhere else) so 7/29 I called explaining we would be coming 2 1/2 hrs away to tubing were they still tubing..yes.. so 7/30 I called again right b4 they closed told the same thing. yes good to go. so we arrive at 10am 7/31 was greeted by 1 older gentlemen 2 younger men, explained we were here for tubing. older gentlemen was very rude. shook his head no, and said waters are to high and people weren't making the cut out YESTERDAY and floating into private property and town called them complain. I was visibly upset explained I called 2 days and just drove 2 1/2hrs (couldn't of called b4 we left as they weren't open) asked if we could go rafting, was told NO they don't mix groups cuz of covid but that didn't matter they were booked for day. said me n husband could take blueberry (there was no way 2 people could take that water was to fast and rapids to high no control. so he quickly said no nothing we can do) so we left drove 2 1/2 hrs back home. We are out $55 in gas, $50 for sitter and wasted weekend. I did everything on my end to make sure this didn't happen! As he said they knew yesterday is was an issue I should of been told this when I called the kayak shop the night b4. was looking forward to this as I am having surgery Friday so this was my last summer activity. had they told me the night b4 we could of made other plans AND not wasted time and MONEY! read more

Carrigan was super helpful on the phone, then made an awesome rafting guide. I had a group of 3. Felt like this company was very good about safety instructions as well as Covid precautions. They were also very funny - which made the whole experience all-around enjoyable. The water was INCREDIBLE - our day was perfect. Went rafting with a group of 4. After a brief introduction and a short bus ride to the launch site , we got our own guide and raft! Nate, our guide was attentive , capable and funny! Everything was clean and the equipment was well taken care off. Every employee we talked to was outgoing, helpful and knowledgeable. We were planning on tubing down the lower Hudson with this company. When we arrived one of the guides let us know it miht not be good as there was head wind could her stuck forgive hours and river was also very low. He suggested we go rafting instead. After some discussion and easing of concerns over taking our 6 year old daughter-- Vinny the guide convinced us it was a good idea. We couldn't have been happier!!! We had never been rafting before and it was awesome. Our daughter had a lot of fun as well. We didn't hit class 3 whitewater until end of the trip and it was not scary at all. Very happy with our trip and cannot wait to see our pictures! ***HINT*** Bring a water proof camera and secure it ...you can take some great pics at beginning of your trip!! Definitely the best rafting center in the area. I definitely recommend choosing SOC if you are debating between rafting centers. My family goes up to Lake George every year and has done so for the past forever. We enjoy doing rafting trips because it is both cooling and cool. We have tried a couple other places, but SOC reigns as king over all. Why do you ask? First location is prime. You get out right at SOC, so no wet bus trips back to the center. Second, the guides are vastly superior. Extremely kind and knowledgeable. You don't want some boring person as a guide, you want SOC guides! Thirdly, water cannons! It is extremely fun having water fights with the other rafts. Lastly, and most importantly, SOC controls the river! You want the company that is the one that controls the water since water control is essential to rapids! Choose SOC and you won't be disappointed! read more

Highly recommend this facility for a family, white water adventure. My wife, 3 kids (14, 11 and 9) have done this trip for the past few years and it's still a wet blast. Our guide was Mike from Glens Falls and he did a wonderful job controlling the raft and hitting the best spots of the river for white water. We went here this past weekend and really enjoyed it. We did a 1 hour kayak tour. Our guide, Dave, was really nice and took good care of us. The reservation process was easy and the check in was pretty smooth. The porta pottys were clean (a pleasant surprise!) The one thing I didnt like was that one of the guides (not sure of his name but he is from Kentucky?) when we were forming our groups tried to make a joke at our expense which I (and the other families around us) found in poor taste - when we checked in it was just me and my daughter (the rest of our family has no interest in this sort of sport) and he called our names and when the two of us raised our hands he said "oh, its the divorce boat." Yeah. My daughter looked at me like "what does he know that I dont?" And we carried on but it was uncomfortable everyones jaw dropped when he said that so I think they just have to be mindful of their audience. read more

AWESOME!!! Party of seven aged 16 through 77 and everyone had a great time. We had our own raft, which was appreciated as sharing can change the dynamic, and our guide Tyler rocked it. He explained the important stuff but didn't scare anyone, he had the obligatory jokes- some corny some cool, showed us how to kick butt in the watergun wars and made sure to help us ( gracefully) get back in the raft. Office staff was super friendly and nice- very informative but no high pressure sale. In all honesty the prices for everything were fair and for the rafting ride was a deal. Loved Bob who drove us to our destination and how the guides all made it fun. One and only drawback- wish the rafting trip was longer!!! We wanted more fun. GO! NOW! read more
