Found this on the internet yesterday. Sad and tragic news regarding Tom. ----- Obituary for Thomas P. Jones V November 29, 1987-August 18, 2022 Thomas P. Jones V has sadly passed away on the evening of August 18, 2022, as a result of a motorcycle accident. He died doing something he truly enjoyed. Thomas graduated from South Glens Falls in 2006 and continued on to get an Associate's degree from ACC. After graduating from ACC, he worked at Trustco bank in South Glens Falls for a short time until he realized that he had to follow his dreams. Five years ago, he decided he wanted to open his own business and that is when Devocean Watersports was born. He managed to put together a great team of employees that helped him with boat charters and jet-ski tours on Lake George, out of the hotel "Twin Birches." Thomas loved his business and put everything he had into it. His smile and enthusiasm was infectious to everyone he met along his journey in life. He really enjoyed teaching people how to do things that was out of their norm. Thomas also made many friends down in Marathon within the keys were he went every winter, enjoying life to the fullest. He was predeceased by his father Thomas P. Jones IV. Thomas is survived by his mother Denise Jones, his brother Patrick Jones, his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bowen and two uncles Christopher and Bob Bowen. Absolutely amazing day with Matt! We booked our tour for Sunday, July 4th. We have only been on jet ski's twice before- in the Carolina's. Having said that, we paid $125 for 90 minutes on a jet ski there, so initially, I was like "$300 seems like a lot." BUT let me tell you where this differs and how much SO better it was than our $125 previous "tour." The jet ski that we were on in Hilton Head and Tybee was smaller and not equipped to handle larger waves. The ones on our tour with Devocean are GREAT. Brand new, clean, tip top condition and equipped to handle and respond to the waters of LG! I would say these are the "Cadillac's" of jet ski's. We also on our last "tour" were basically just given 90 minutes of free time. With Devocean, Matt took us all over the lake - it was basically a private tour for our group! It was a FANTASTIC day out. I would say that it is a full 2+ hour ACTIVELY on the water and the jet ski. I agree with the recommendation to wear leggings for women as shorts can/will be uncomfortable. LG is unique in that there are a LOT of boats on the water. It is (IMO) safer for you to go out with a guide to make sure you are being safe. The jet ski was going over 50 mph in some places so if you hit something, that could ruin your vacation. I rode a Jet Ski for the first time with Devocean. I went for the afternoon tour ride with Matt as our guide. He was very friendly and helpful, especially when I accidentally threw my gf off the jet ski. He showed us some spots of historical significance, where you can go cliff jumping, and some nice spots to hike. Honestly, it was a great experience and I highly recommend it. THIS IS WORTH THE MONEY! My boyfriend wanted to go jet skiing and so I found this and saw a few reviews so I said to myself okay I'll give it a try and it was awesome! We were escorted by Zach, our tour guide. He is so nice and sweet. Even though I was scared when he mention sharp turns and trying to catch up mind you it was my first time, he gave me confidence that I can do it and it was nice! If you're a first timer and want to do a tour around the lake, GO TO THIS ONE and go in the morning if you're worry about traffic such as boats and other water vehicles and currents. We had an amazing experience with Captain Kris! He was very knowledgeable and had some funny jokes. The tour was four hours long and we were able to do some fun activities. Some of the activities included cliff diving, paddle boarding and swimming as well as sightseeing and learning some amazing facts. Everyone was so nice and very professional. We did a 3 hour pontoon boat ride with Captain Kris. From the southern end of Lake George up past Bolton Landing. Captain Kris showed us the sights as we enjoyed a relaxing cruise. We saw cliffs up past assembly point to the beautiful Sagamore Hotel. Highly recommend them read more

Tom, however, did a great job of laying out the groundwork and ground "rules" so everyone knows what to expect and make sure a fun time was had by all! Our tour included ourselves and two others, all more or less beginners and with age ranges from 30 to 65+! He was very conscientious about each rider's strengths, weaknesses, and concerns and made sure that each was accommodated as best as possible. We are in town from LA and wanted a few days of lake fun for our boys 9 and 12. I tried to find a boat last minute and came across Devocean Watersports. Usually my husband will drive the boat but this tour was appealing as it meant he didn't have to drive esp since we don't know the lake. My girlfriend and I shared a jet ski and our instructor was Tom, who was awesome and patient while we learned the ropes! We were fast enough to make it halfway up Lake George and back for a total of 32 miles for a 90 minute session. Tom took pictures of us on his phone and air dropped them to us which was really nice of him and they turned out looking great. They were very professional about following covid guidelines and requiring masks up until we were ready to jet ski. The jet skis you are able to rent aren't slow crappy old ones, they're new and powerful. Nick helped us in and out of the jet skis and was also very nice and patient while we waddled out of the jet ski. You're able to go as fast or slow as you want, our instructor just matched our pace. We booked the 12 pm tour for a Saturday. Reserving the time slot was easy; The information that Devocean shares on their website and emails were very helpful and accurate. Since we've been jet skiing before in the ocean, we thought it would be easy-peasy in a lake. We couldn't be more wrong! The boat traffic and the waves can get pretty intense throughout the day. Being petite and riding solo made it difficult to acclimate to the waves quickly, but for my boyfriend, it was fun and exciting (to each their own). Although it was more challenging for me, our tour guide, Tom, made sure we took enough breaks, and checked in with everyone to see how they were doing - he was a fantastic guide. Amazing experience doing a jet ski tour with Tom! Great price for the LG area, a full 1.5 hours out on the water. We went at 9am which was great because there was less boat traffic, so we got to really experience the open lake. We had a blast. There were 6 of us on 3 two-seated jet skis. If you're on the fence, do it! It was a highlight of our trip. Matt, our guide, was great! He made us very comfortable, was very knowledgable about the lake and the places he brought us, and gave easy to follow advice for me, as a first-time jetski driver! I wasn't even planning on driving since I never did before, but he encouraged me to try it out, so my boyfriend and I switched halfway through the ride. I'm sooo glad I did! It was so fun and the views were UNREAL. It looked like a movie. The tour guides are also great at gauging the type of tour your party wants - nice and easy or fast with lots of turns! We opted for the latter!! (once I figured out how to maneuver the thing!) We went at 9AM at the water still got pretty bumpy and rough, even without all the boat traffic. All around a great experience with Tom! Since COVID, all the tours are private which is really nice because the guide can go at your pace and skill level. Tom was a great guide and we had a lot of fun on the Lake and enjoyed the fanatic scenery. Rain was in the forecast and Devocean was accommodating in letting us move to an earlier time slot. There are only three places that do jet ski tours on Lake George and after talking to folks at all three we didn't hesitate to go with Devocean. Safe and super fun experience, beautiful equipment, highly recommended. My wife and I went out with our oldest daughter (almost 7) for a 9AM tour on a Saturday. We had an outstanding experience and will definitely do this again when we return to Lake George. Booking. Booking was easy. While the reservation had to be made by phone rather than a website, each time we called someone answered the phone, so we didn't feel like we were in a game of phone tag with leaving messages and what not. Arrival. The arrival instructions in the email we received after booking were clear and the parking is easy. Devocean has a great little lean-to set up on the grounds of the Twin Birches Cottages where they've got all their pre-departure stuff set up (paperwork, safety equipment and briefing, hand signals etc.). It's convenient to a restroom and they've got a streamlined process with all the steps you want (e.g., payment, how do I stay safe, how do I fit my PFD and helmet) and nothing superfluous. Once we were all kitted up, Tom and Marshall shuttled us down to the Lake (2 minute ride across the street and down the hill). Equipment. Devocean's equipment is beautiful. All of it. And seems brand new. From the Bern helmets to the O'Neill PFDs to the gorgeous, tricked-out yellow SeaDoos with brakes. If you've rented at Lake George / Bolton Landing before, prepare to have your expectations far exceeded. Moldy and smelly PFDs? Not here. Scratched up machines that have had the crap kicked out of them and been maintained minimally? Not here. All of Devocean's stuff is high end and they seem to go out of their way to keep it in tip-top shape. We really appreciated that. Experience. The experience was really, really great. Tom started with a quick orientation about the lake before we proceeded north toward the Narrows. He showed us several places we'd never been on the narrows even though we'd been on the lake a lot previously. We made several stops along the way where Tom pointed out sights and shared Lake George history and trivia. It was the perfect amount of zipping around and stopping to enjoy the scenery and learn about the lake. The weather on the morning we ended up going started with rain but eventually cleared up. That meant that we started with the lake to ourselves at 9AM on a Saturday. The beauty of doing this with a guide is that you get to follow Tom's lead and he makes sure you have a good time and that you stay safe. For instance, as the weather turned beautiful unexpectedly and we were heading back southbound there was a rush by lots of other boats to get out on the lake and take advantage of the sun. More than a mile away, Tom spotted an armada of boats (11 - we counted) blasting northbound that we would never have been able to navigate through or around safely, which required us to veer away and wait for them all to blow past. I would not have known enough about their speed relative to ours and the narrowing of the lake up ahead to have made the decision he made to pull over and wait for the traffic to stop. Another great thing Tom did was offer to take my daughter on his SeaDoo for the southbound ride. He's a pro driving, so he's able to go a lot faster with her on board than I was as a novice, which means I was able to enjoy the ride more on the southbound run. My daughter also had more fun with Tom because he's much better at navigating the waves and keeps her planted on the seat. She had an absolutel blast, and so did I! I should note we were first scheduled to go on a Thursday morning, and it was raining. Tom was great and gave us the option of pressing on or rescheduling, which we really appreciated because we weren't sure our almost-7 year old would have persisted in the rain, never mind enjoyed the experience. Last week my family and I rented 3 jet skis and did the 3pm tour. Matt and Zach were the guys with us and they were absolutely amazing! The gave excellent instructions and made the process completely comfortable for a few family members that were newbies to driving/riding jet skis. Having both guides made it so all of our group was able to ride at the speed they preferred. Part of our group was Ricky Bobby fast and the rest preferred slow and steady, but towards the end, we all wanted to go fast. At one point during our tour, we got stuck in a massive rain storm. Highly recommend. We had a great 2-hour outing with our 9- and 12-year-old kids, captained by Matt. The setup was orderly and friendly, the boat was practically brand new and very comfortable, and Matt knew his way around the lake to get us to good tubing spots with less wind and chop, as well as a fun swim spot thereafter.
