Completely out of touch with the Sacramento scene. I'd hate for people to think this is really the best Sacramento has to offer.

To start, I didn't realize that I had to actively cancel my subscription in order to stop services. I was getting several email reminders to "renew or else my subscription would end on Aug. 2, 2021." I ignored the emails, assuming that my service would stop if I didn't take action, as stated in the subject line and body of the email. What I didn't realize is that my subscription would automatically renew "for my convenience" - I needed to take additional steps to opt out. I only learned this information when I went back to review old reminder emails and saw that this was at the bottom in tiny, grey print. My fault for not reading the fine print, but disappointing to learn that the Bee was not clear on this policy. I finally managed to cancel my subscription, and recently received a phone call stating that about $50 was due for the additional service that will occur between my "previous subscription end date" (Aug 2, 2021) and my future end date (confirmed with cancellation). I did not feel comfortable giving out my credit card information over the phone, and asked if I could pay online. The individual confirmed that I could, but I have had a difficult time navigating the portal and don't see an option to pay what is past due online. I only see an option to pay for a future subscription, which I do not want! I am now in the process of trying to get assistance with paying my bill, but I have not been able to get through to anyone via phone, email, or Facebook, despite reaching out for several days. I don't know if the Bee is short staffed, but it's been an incredibly frustrating experience trying to cancel my subscription. In my opinion, it should not be this complicated or difficult. I also think the Bee needs to be more transparent on subscription cancellation policies. I get that it's business, but the lack of clarity was upsetting to learn. I'm sorry to give the Bee such a sad rating. I appreciate the journalists and have enjoyed reading the articles, but the cost and effort I've had to put into the subscription process has been disappointing.

It's also very difficult to cancel a subscription, the website is bugged and doesn't work properly, they force you into a phone call, where they attempt to make you pay a balance you never agreed too in the first place. They will eventually send this outstanding balance to collections to further profit off of you. Very shady business tactics and disgraceful for a news paper outlet. My family has been reading the Bee since we moved to Sacramento back in the early 60's, it's always been a reputable name. Well, not anymore. The companies been sold and the customer care is non existent. There's a reason they're going out of business and the reason is self afflicted greed, desperation and dishonesty from a failing company.

When staying the people at Guest Service Desk say go ahead and take, how something House Keeping replaces when they cleaning the rooms! As far, I like call it Scavenger Hunt of our capitol town Sacramento, I got most the autographs in Down Town area, all in Old Sacramento And Bridge District, some in the Mid Town And Sutter District! I had read not remember where how many the merchants email the author say they feel really honored when people ask for the autograph on the appropriate pages! I have even tried someplace call CAFE BERNARDO on the page, wow! Thank you for a wonderful book! I guessing most are hotel guests as I seeing price is thirty dollar before tax, that be about thirty three give or take with tax? Mostly the Down Town area and Old Sacramento And Bridge District as these all are walking distance of Sheraton Grand Sacramento 1230 J! One place think call Maya Huel, met the owner! He signed that page and the next page as he say he owns both the restaurants! Another call Chocolate Fish Coffee, obviously not touristy area! I try a healthy green tea! Not touristy, went in a nursing home ask their Security person how get there! Thank again for a wonderful book! I subscribed to SacTown to learn the inside information about the Sac metro area. After a few experiences of eating atac the editorial reviews of restaurants and several businesses I'm sort'a done with the magazine. The whole magazine is obviously a pay to play publication. That's been my constant experience with 5 recommendations. Then there's the overall magazine content. 90% of the magazine is slick advertisements both big and small. This publication should be free. Like many magazines, there is a fair amount of advertising, but the in-depth pieces (which are thoroughly researched and some of the best journalism in the region) are second-to-none and really reflect a passion and pride for Sacramento. I recently learned that Sactown has a much wider circulation now than Sacramento Magazine. I think this comes down to a number of factors. 1) Their graphics department is top-notch and does a consistently good job of assembling colorful and catchy cover designs to pull you in. 2) They have a finger on the pulse of stories that are current and important to their readers. I read their wonderful piece recently on the new owner of the Kings, as well as editorials on saving and preserving landmarks and the farm-to-fork movement. All are representative of what's important to Sacramento now, and the readers appreciate that. I took advantage of one of their many deals and my yearly subscription costs next to nothing. To get even one quality article on local happenings each month is well-worth the cost.
