That's exactly what I found at Yemaso BJJ. From my very first email, Professor Marcos was incredibly responsive and took the time to explain how everything worked. Before I even stepped on the mats, I came in to observe a class. He introduced himself, welcomed me, and explained what I'd be watching. You could immediately tell how passionate he is about teaching and how much he cares about his students. Watching the class, I was impressed by how organized, structured, and well-run everything was. The academy was clean, the instruction was clear, and everyone--from the instructors to the students--was friendly and respectful. There was no ego, just a great atmosphere where people genuinely wanted to help each other improve. I signed up that same day, and now, three weeks later, I have zero regrets. Professor Marcos and all of the instructors have been incredibly patient, especially with someone starting from scratch. I've already made new friends, learned more than I expected, and genuinely look forward to every class. Whether you're looking to compete, learn self-defense, get in shape, or enroll your child in a positive environment, I can't recommend Yemaso BJJ enough. We lived in Elk Grove and would drive the boys here, three days a week. The boys's dad wasn't very interested, but after time, he ended up appreciating us signing up. (He also became an instructor)! We had so much fun, and learned so much from other parents. We grew very close to all the families, traveled to all the tournaments and spent time with our kids. Over the years, the families started to fall, and most ended up getting divorced. Still the discipline that was taught, the accomplishments that were achieved, were a great part of being with the club. Thanks to the Takeda family, and all the sensei's past and present for dedicating your life to a truly great sport! Miss you guys!

My husband attends the adult class with Rob Sensei and Joan Sensei on Monday & Thursday evenings and I attend with my sons in the youth class with Henry Sensei, Som Sensei, and Andrew Sensei on Wednesday and Friday evenings. The instructors are all black belts and they have tons of patience and provide a lot of support and are extremely knowledgeable! My 6-year old is Autistic and even he is comfortable with leading stretches every once in awhile! They really emphasize the importance of self-discipline, believing in one's self, and making good choices while at the same time encouraging one another, maintaining a positive environment, and having fun in the process of learning.
