I highly recommend checking out the Center for any and all sexuality/gender/women's studies related things. They have an expansive library and an education staff who can point you in the right direction. They also offer monthly workshops, trivia nights, and other fun events. The CSPH is a great addition to The Grant building, and is a great way to put Pawtucket on the map in terms of tourism.

It was one of my dream schools back then…read more Thankfully, life had other plans, and I'm forever grateful I ended up at my other dream school, UC Berkeley. But life has a funny way of circling back with plot twists. Over a decade later, I'm thrilled to be admitted to Brown University for my Master's! I joined the inaugural cohort of their Online Master's in Data Science: Policy, Governance & Society. I didn't think I'd get into such a small, competitive program, but I shot my shot. And I got in! I was very fortunate to be able to visit the Brown campus on my own dime for grad school orientation week. Brown clearly takes very good care of its community and students. I enjoyed attending multiple events, meeting fellow Brunonians, and exploring the gorgeous New England campus. Go Bears! Once a Cal Bear, always a Cal Bear. Now officially a Brown Bear too. Head-canoning Oski and Bruno being West Coast and East Coast brothers.

Save the Bay comes, A Gizmos and Gadgets STEM instructor gives a lesson every week which my boys get super psyched about. My 5yo gets overwhelmed in large groups but at Lincoln teachers like Ms Mac take the time to really get to know them - They notice when kiddos are feeling lost and they bring them back into the group effortlessly. You can tell Ms Mac actually really wants to be there and my children feel that. I can't recommend Lincoln enough. If my boys were girls, they'd be attending Lincoln throughout the school year. The facility is very clean with ample bathrooms (they have baby wipes and offer free lady products in the bathrooms!) The gymnasium is in great condition with bleachers. I felt compelled to post publicly what I saw while at a business across from Oliver Day School…read more When I got out of my car, I saw a teacher sitting on her phone while at least 2-3 kids were screaming. I watched for a few minutes and she never looked up from her phone. This continued for atleast 10 minutes. Another child was screaming inside and pounding on the glass door. The teacher never looked or acknowledged any of these kids. 30 minutes later, two additional teachers were outside with their little ones. There was screaming, crying and the teachers were just standing there talking to each other. I saw two teachers grab kids by their wrists to lift them off the ground and carry them inside. These kids looked roughly 1-2 years old!!! I asked a woman who frequents a business across the street what is going on with this daycare and she said she had witnessed similar situations. However, when she called the school, they were extremely rude and defensive. I would want to know this if I was looking at this school to send my child to or if this is where I was paying to send my child. The kids at this age do not have the ability to tell their parents what is happening throughout the day. I would AVOID this place.

The more we read about it though, the more it seemed like a wonderful place for our son. The calming atmosphere, and wonderful routine are things that our son took to immediately. He is a cautious little boy, and very wary of people and spaces, Angel Care has brought out the absolute best in him, and in turn, helped us learn as parents, as we can see first hand how he responds to the slightest changes made. The directness, Catherine Valenti has a remarkable understanding of children and their needs. He has developed so much confidence and his language skills are incredible. He sets his place every day, he shakes hands, he puts things away (within reason- he is a toddler after all!) and although he still will act out sometimes (toddler) he is able to vocalize his frustrations and we, as parents have learned to validate them and work through them alongside our son. You can see him being proud of himself and the work he has done, and it continues on at home. One of my favorite aspects of Angel Care is that they go outside all year round, and spend lots of time outdoors having messy, muddy, glorious outdoor free time. Inside there is calm, order and routine, and outside lessons continue in a way that seems to be lost in many other places. There is a strawberry patch where my son picks and eats berries. This simple act is so meaningful, as he learns where they come from, how they form from flowers, and that he must wait until they are ripe to pick and eat them. Small life lessons in the fresh air lead to rosy cheeks and long afternoon naps! I simply cannot imagine a better place for my children's early education.

I've have had back facials, regular facials, body waxing, and nail polish removing services. I highly recommend the skin and waxing services! I would give my overall skin services a 9 out of 10. I would give the wax services 10 out of 10. I would give the nail gel polish removal surface a 0 out of 10 I was in agony the 1 time I went there. It took 2 hours to remove the gel off my hands and feet. They removed it the 'old school way' of using a nail filer and grinding down the gel off until they got to my natural nail bed. My nail bed was in so much pain and soreness... it took a day for my hands and 2 days for my feet to feel back to normal. I had areas of my nail bed turn white due to the over grinding. They tried soaking my nails in acetone and foil but the foil was constantly dropping. It was a game of catch. The student had to switch to different fingers/toes or hands/feet when i needed to rest due to the irritation. I came in thinking it would probably take 30 minutes for the appt... but 2+ hours?? Imagine if I had plans afterwards?? Smh. I understand that they probably have issues with drill bits and nail drills due to students probably pocketing them. I wish they had a more secure system of keeping a nail drill on the property. For example, having it locked with a pass code protected lock and each student have a unique pass code so that, in the event it went missing, staff would know who was the last one who "checked out" the drill and that student would be financially responsible to paying for / replacing the drill (and accessories) before completing the program. Or another system could be it would be locked up with the instructor and a student would gave to request and return it to the instructor immediately at the start and end of the appt It would gave been a 5 star review had I not have had a bad experience with the nail part of the facility. Definitely book as much skin and wax services for yourself (and your loved ones) as you can!

I was able to schedule the first appointment on Friday morning. I arrived and checked in. I had a short wait before I was greeted by Adele who performed my services. I originally came in for a silk press but after the consultation it was recommended that I pivot to a deep conditioner and blow dry. Adele was amazing! She was attentive and knowledgeable and consulted with me about everything. She provided great services and was very attentive with my hair. I ended getting a trim and a different style than what I had originally planned but I love this even more. The prices are great too! I can't believe everything came to less than $20!!! Please bring cash for tips! You can pay for services via credit card but can't put tips on the card and the students work very hard!
