Over the years my family has trusted Detra and her staff with the care of my own two children an addition to my other nieces and nephews. My family began its relationship with the IASW when my niece, now 13, was just two years old. when I became a mother 7 1/2 years ago, I knew right away that IASW was the perfect fit even if it meant I would have to drive 25 minutes each way every morning to bring my daughter to school. IASW contributed immensely to not only the social and emotional development of my daughters but also academically, leaving them both well prepared for Kindergarten. In the last 7 years I have referred at least 7-10 other families and will continue to refer as I know how passionate Detra, Sam and the other staff are about the children and have only had wonderful experiences in our tenure there. I highly recommend IASW to anyone looking for a daycare for their little ones.

Here's why: 1: location - I'm a 5 min drive away from home/15 min walk and 10 min drive from work. It matters. A lot! Carrying 3+ bags everyday: purse, lunch, pump, diaper bag, big baby in carrier, you know sometimes I stop home first to drop it off before picking him up, and I still hate getting up early, and babies make you late to everything, so it's good to be close. (Little after the Thayer/Hope Split- parking is on the street, so not great, but always find a spot) 2: great staff: even as technical co-employees, I had never been to the site prior to needing childcare, I had just met the director. But being there as a mom, it doesn't matter if we work for the same org or not, I want a great, safe, caring place for my kid- which this place is at every turn. I've been a Y girl for 14+ years all around New England, so I knew there were good odds, that's what we do, but not everywhere is great honestly. However, the director and the infant staff are fantastic (I haven't met the toddler or preschool staff yet) 3. Cloth diapers: yes, I'm that girl with the cloth diapers and the glass bottles. All were welcome and not a problem. I know especially the cloth isn't welcome everywhere. Don't know why, I'm the one dealing with the poop at home.

At the beginning of the summer my son suffered a fall down a flight of 15 stairs at a different daycare. We immediately pulled him out and were stuck figuring out how we would get through the summer as two working parents. I called daycare after daycare and left messages with everyone but most places were on a waitlist and couldn't accommodate him. Cadence called us back quickly and recognized the difficult spot we were in and were able to provide a part-time spot . They provided such a warm, caring and safe environment. It was clear from the moment we toured, that the teachers had a tremendous amount of love for the kids in their care. Had we not committed to another school for the year - we would have been 100% comfortable keeping him at Cadence. At drop-off and pickup it felt like we had been a member of their community for longer than just a few weeks. He always came home excited and looked forward to arriving. He started his new school yesterday and his teachers said he had an amazing day. He listened, was polite and shared with others. He even shared stories about his friends and teachers from Cadence with the new staff. Their team was an essential part of helping him and setting him up for success. We cannot thank them enough for helping our family through a difficult time and providing a safe and warm environment. We highly recommend them.

Growing up in Rhode Island, I always thought of Meeting Street as a school for those with disabilities, but I didn't realize it was SO SO SO much more than that - it's a wonderful place for all children. From my very first meeting with the director, Miss Ange, I was very impressed - she addressed my concerns perfectly by saying they were used to addressing children as individuals and finding ways to meet their educational and emotional and physical needs. So if my child has a "high energy quota" (as she put it so wonderfully), they'll find ways to meet that proactively as an educational obstacle rather than try to force him to fit a certain mold (sit and listen) or punish his energy just as a behavioral problem. And they've met that every step of the way. They've got a wonderful playground that they use frequently, they have lots of physical activity including gym class (which is accessible to even his classmates with physical limitations), and they have an indoor sensory gym that allows for him to get his wiggles out even on rainy days. He's quickly learned that his energy isn't a bad thing, but how to channel it into the right directions so that he can be a good friend and classmate, and a good listener and nice student. His preschool teacher, Miss Abbi, has amazing energy and has managed to make great progress in his listening and socialization skills in the month he's been in class. He is now much more independent in putting his clothes and shoes on himself, he sits for quiet time when instructed to do so, he eats more foods than he did before starting school, and he's much better at interacting with other kids - asking to take turns, including others. I've also loved the app they use - it makes it easier to know when they've been checked in and out if someone other than me is doing it that day, and they send notes and photo updates throughout the day so both their Dad and I can see what they're up to at school. I fully believe my children (I also have a toddler who is also doing wonderfully) are better for being in such a loving environment where each child is an individual and loved for who they are, for having friends who may be different from them. It's a wonderful place, and I'd pick it every single time over and over as the childcare option for my kids. Every single day, my kids beg to go to school and hold hands and run into their classrooms with smiles and not a backwards glance at me. That's the best reward, knowing they love being there every day.

Staff is calm patient and flexible which really is a must for summer camp. Lincoln is more individualized and quaint in comparison to some of the big name summer camp machines in the area. You can tell Ms Mac actually really wants to be there and my children feel that. I can't recommend Lincoln enough. If my boys were girls, they'd be attending Lincoln throughout the school year. I introduced the sippy cup recently, and the teachers were very happy to continue to help her practice using it while at school. They figured out a nap and feeding schedule that I can adhere to on the weekends. Everyone has been very responsive to my questions, and get back to me in a timely manner.
