We continue to see Dr. Gohr because she is incredibly friendly, sweet and affectionate to our dog, and knowledgeable on the veterinary services we have requested. Pricing is always straightforward and upfront, and portions of the cost go back to supporting the mission of the non-profit. We filled out their application with their fee. Every thing was going great, we pass all of their regulations all the way to the home visit. At this point we are exited to get our congratulations letter letting us finish our rescue. Instead we get a rejection letter because our dog is not fixed. He is our hunting dog and we have been talking with his breeder about the possibility of studding him because he has great health and natural hunting abilities. Naturally, we where devastated at the news and emailed them asking why we where lead to believe every thing was good until they weren't. Their response was sorry we over looked your application. I suggest looking else where because this company isn't what they say they are!! Their fix policy is a joke, I guess we will just go with a breeder.

I aimed to provide helpful information for the clinic and its customers and even attempted to assuage the hostility of the minority of customers who shared negative experiences. Unexpectedly, I received a call from Dr. Rozendaal to discuss my cat's test results after 2 business days. Unexpected because this clinic has been known to delay delivering results. We had a pleasant conversation in which he answered all of my questions. I was eager to go return for my next appointment and leave a 5 star review, reflecting the service the clinic is known for and which I had experienced in prior visits. Before the call was concluded, Rozendaal broached the subject of the review. I reassured him that I harbor no ill-will toward him or his clinic, but that I stand by what I said, which he seemed okay with. Today, because another sick cat I adopted bit through my finger as he was being transported, I called to ask if my appointment today could be rescheduled. (I'm typing this from urgent care, where I'm receiving stitches.) You do not pressure and manipulate your customers, especially if they are suffering and dealing with sick pets! Have a modicum of moral decency. Not everything is about money and status! If you don't want negative reviews, keep providing good service. Plenty of franchises rested on their laurels as quality declined until eventually going out of business. In particular, don't go out of your way to harass repeat customers because you're having a bad day and can't manage the stress of your public-facing job.

My dog recently had the misfortune of being accused of biting another dog (wrongfully accused, I…read moremight add, and has since been vindicated, but that's a story for another day). As we live in Minneapolis, that meant dealing with Minneapolis Animal Care & Control, who ended up declaring my dog "potentially dangerous." Appealing that decision was expensive and insanely stressful, and involved having a "behavior analysis" done by one of their city-approved trainers. Carol Propotnik, of Best Friends Animal Behavior Consulting, is on that list. Carol doesn't currently have much of an online presence--her website is very outdated, and you won't find her on social media. She seems to be a bit of an "insider secret," getting most of her business via word of mouth and referrals, but I offered to write her a Yelp review because I had such a great experience working with her. There are plenty of "dog trainers" out there--some extremely good, some not so good--but there's no regulation on what that title actually means. Carol is an actual animal behaviorist with an advanced degree and years of experience. She spent two full hours getting to know my dog and me, observing and interacting with him in our home. It's clear that she loves, respects, and understands animals, and she had some really interesting insights into my dog's behavior. Moreover, Carol was sympathetic to our situation, which was refreshing after dealing with some rude, rigid individuals at Animal Control (looking at you, Officer Young...). She's personable and reasonable, seems very invested in her clients' well-being, and went out of her way to accommodate the extremely limited window of time I had to work with. After an evaluation, it was determined that Lucy, our foster, needed to be rehomed with a new foster because our Beagle was so old and unhealthy that she was not patient with a much younger dog. We found Lucy a wonderful adoptive family where Lucy is thriving and our Beagle, Millie is doing better as well because she is now not bothered by such a younger dog. We highly recommend Carol.
