This was our first time here, and it came highly recommended by friends. The staff was kind, welcoming, and helpful. There are many different room options--some facing the Hudson River, some with porches--and our room was a small, cozy cabin. It was clean, the mattress was soft, and although the bathroom only had a shower, it suited us fine. This week there were many families, and most of the activities were geared toward children. The only activity with an extra charge was horseback riding; everything else, including the petting zoo, kayaking, rope climbing, biking, and more, was free. My wife and I spent most of our time enjoying the amazing scenery and relaxing on the chairs overlooking the Hudson. Three meals a day were provided, and the food was plentiful, varied, and very good. There was also a minyan three times a day, and the manager gave a short dvar Torah after Shacharis and Mincha, which added a meaningful touch. We had an amazing time and highly recommend visiting 1000 Acres Ranch.

But I…read morehave to say my recent visit (Thursday, September 3, 2026 thru Sunday, September 6, 2026) was LOUSY!!! Granted our group has been getting smaller and smaller in the past three years (due to them jacking the prices up), but we always try to make the best of things. I had noticed ahead of time, that the website now lists the place as "Kosher" but their image on the "Food" section showed Ribeye steak, and other amazing looking food. that was NOT the case! they had gone back to ALL meals being "buffet style" which to me is the lazy way out of preparing quality meals. In years past, they also went buffet style but we kept complaining and the last two years they actually had legit menu's with amazing food (although they NEVER took into consideration my friends that were diabetic!). We were told due to the new Kosher meals, that we also could NOT order any pork (so no breakfast sausages or bacon with your meal!) Breakfast and Lunch we were told for Kosher were dairy based? and dinner they would serve some form of beef, but NEVER did I see a choice for a nice ribeye like on their website! The one thing that seemed nice when I first arrived was the newly expanded Office area. they blew out the back wall, so that the office goes clear into the bar area, so walking in and seeing the office desk to the right, and seating area on the left, I honestly felt like I was in some fancy resort! But that was the extent of the "resort" feel. About 3 or 4 years ago, the very run down Duplex units (four duplexes with rooms for two parties in each) were torn down and new Duplexes were build from the foundation up. But that too was when they just about TRIPLED their price for the stay (and that was for ANY room, not just the new duplexes) we were also told that the cabins were going to be next, but they never upgraded those. Also on this most recent stay, I found out that most people in our party (we had about 13 people) the TV's were not working at all (no signal?) I was surprised that my room in Deer Leap did in fact have a functional TV as well as in the bar! So, half of the place was without TV. The bar, was pretty much EMPTY of any type of alcohol so we had a very limited selection (and sadly this is a place they normally could make a lot of extra money!) We also found out that the Jewish group there had an event going on in the dining room and they even removed some of the alcohol from the BAR to be used exclusively for the jewish group in the dining hall! So, it seriously seemes that this place is now catering exclusively for the Jewish community!!! THE PAVILION: we always enjoyed spending time in the pavillion too while we were there. But it was blocked off and decorated again exclusively for the Jewish group for their religious services!!! Had I known of all this nonsense, I would have saved my money and gone to Ridin Hy which is supposedly only 30 minutes down the road! OH and one more vital thing: some of those in our group were told that we were the LAST group to go there, as they were filing BANKRUPCY!!!

Figured, why not; glad we did) SCHEDULING: 4 We visited Lake George on Tuesday & decided to parasail on Wednesday. Drove back (an hour) to see nobody PS'ing on the lake. "Closed". Cued to go online to book, which in turn 'call to schedule'. Done. CUSTOMER SERVICE: 5 Kiosks process was smooth with obligatory liability waiver, suiting up with life jacket and harness. Crew was friendly while efficient getting us situated on boat - with a final point that there is a very small possibility "you'll get wet"....so plan accordingly. Adding, "We have waterproof phone sleeves with lanyards should you wish to take those up with you for pics." (Note: competitor company advises that use of one's personal electronics is a safety hazard and banned from use on their boats - they offered a $30 photo service shot from the boat) The RIDE: Customers wait their turn to go up, turns out party of three will always to slotted to go up together to save time (max weight 500lbs). Solo flights could only happen if one is over 200 lbs. Tandems are fun with parent and kid combos. You're harnessed onto the parasail and are supporting rope is winched out hundreds of feet, pulled by along by boat. Higher than I expected. Duration is approximately 10 minutes which I didn't time - but seemed plenty enough. Crew offered a water touchdown which amounts to be let down into the lake for a momentary wetting.....and lifted back up before final boat landing. (We asked for feet only which was plenty wet for our purposes) NEXT TIME: My kids & I would definitely use Joe's service again on our next trip up to Lake George- Best value of the two vendor (personal photo op from height). What would I do different? Take wide angle selfie video of flight & ask for a deeper water touchdown mid flight. *BONUS: - Now for a 10 year old's perspective... Parasail joes was awesome. It was thrilling ,scary ,fun all that stuff .It was pretty cool and it was my first time parasailing and it was pretty cool there might be a better place so I can't completely say five star but it's good for a first time and I might change my opinion later sooooooo yeah.

I got up and stayed up several times because of our wonderful instructor, Sean. He was patient and informative with everything having to do with the lake and the boat and equipment. Fun songs, dad jokes told better, and I love to her say "Keep paddlin." Lori "Loves to SURF" . This is the best time in the Hudson. We spent several minutes in "Fluffy Box" and she even got the raft turned around!!! We also made it into Bus Stop and got in some good surf there as well. But wait - there's more! We went down Jiffy Pop Backwards!!!!! Bestest Ginger snaps and other super healthy lunch options too, washed down with yummy hibiscus pink tea. So - if you want the small company vibe that cares about you as a participant and partner, Square Eddy is the way to go.

In total there were 4 rafts and approximately 20 people. We didn't need to wait around for anyone and the entire operation felt smooth and well-planned. The kids had a blast tubing and cliff jumping at calf's pen. We all enjoyed mooring in the sandy beach and swimming in a cove in the northwest bay. Lake George is a gorgeous lake and has so much to explore. Dunham's Bay was a convenient location to start our lake journey. Parking was very convenient. Captain Gary is located in the brown boat house next to the parking area. The building has "18" on the front of it.

The first deck was overcrowded making exit in case of an emergency nearly impossible and producing a disaster. The first deck was very cold despite being advertised as heated. Only the crowd did anything to warm up the room. The price of $50 per person was overly expensive and we were unaware, until boarding, that it included food and entertainment at the restaurant on land. We were not interested and would have preferred a two-tier price structure. Also, the window flaps were filthy and we could barfely see outside. I will not book with you again.
