I arived for my ride only to be told my apointment was for friday not thursday but they could put me in a ride in in an hour. (After the ride I found an email confirming my orinal ride was scheduled for thursday) I agreed - big mistake. While waiting I noticed a horse tied away from the others that just didn't look right. It kept tremering. Sure enough I would be given " Bell " as my horse. When I raised my concerns I was told what looked like tremers was her shaking off flys. Then the fun realy began we got to a bridghe that bell refused to cross. She kept trying to turn around and go back the way we came. Each time I turned her back to the trail she would try to shake me off and eventualy started to buck. The trail guide was way ahead and I think unaware of my calling her until another rider did so. We finaly got Bell across the bridge. Near the end of the ride there was an open field Bell refused to follow the other horses and tried going off on her own. She eventualy had to be pulled by the staff back to the stable. I forgot to mention her tendency to drop way back from the pack, so she could trot back to it. I have years of rideing experience and never experienced a horror like todays ride. read more

We went to Circle B Ranch on Labor Day weekend and we had an absolute blast! Prior to arriving, we ran into some car trouble and when we called to ask if we can push our appointment, they were extremely accommodating and understanding. I must've called 5-8 times from inquiry to actual booking and not once was I given any attitude from the staff. Our tour guide Garret was really nice and informative. All in all, the staff was great and we had an amazing time at Circle B Ranch. Will definitely come back here again when we revisit Lake George!! read more

While visiting the ADK's this past week, our daughter asked to re-visit the Circle B Ranch where she had once riden with a friend. Having a free morning, we accompanied her (in the car) to the Ranch. Neither my wife or I chose to ride, this was not the time nor place to exhibit my "City Slicker" riding skills, again. We arrived to an weathered, but well maintain grouping of barns and paddocks. It was refreshing to see open pastures and glades of trees. Our rider, chose to take a 1 hour Trail ride (reservations recommended at least 24 hrs ahead). There was one other rider and the trail guide. Riders watch a short informative and well produced video featuring the Ranches owner. Pointing out riding techniques and safety. Helmets are available and required for young riders. They mounted, snap shots taken and off they went into the adjacent pasture. An hour later, we were greeted with smiling riders and some sore unprepared muscles. The Trail Guide allowed the riders to choice a ride based on their comfort/skill levels. The ride leisurely route and allowing the 3 riders time to share riding experiences. All in all, this was a very pleasant riding experience. They returned my call to book a 1-hr trail ride on a Saturday in November for 2 of us; per their site, the price is $38 per person: http://www.circlebranch.net/trail-rides.html. Plus, I had an email coupon for $5 off - sweet! I was told the cost was $46 per person - what?! I quoted the website prices and said that they ought to update the prices on the website. The guy was pretty rude and said, "I don't 'gotta' update my website. Those are summer prices". Nowhere on that page does it say ANYTHING about the rates being summer prices. Needless to say, not going. Such a shame...I like to support small businesses in the Adks but felt like it was a "bait and switch". read more

We were very disappointed in our recent experience at Circle B Ranch. The cost went up $20 for one hour in addition to having a very boring ride. We only got to have our horses walk along , there used to be an opportunity to trot a bit. The trail was muddy and I felt bad for the horses slogging through the foul smelling mud. And probably worst of all, our friend picked 7 ticks off her horse from under it's mane. We won't be going back to Circle B. It's definitely changed for the worse. read more

My three kids and I set up a ride on a Saturday on July. My kids are 10, 9, and 9, and have all ridden horses before. An hour ride was the right length for us. The horses and guides were good. The trails were nice, however nothing remarkable. You should expect to tip, although I don't know what amount is expected. We would definitely go back. Four stars. Solid experience. Nothing negative. Fantastic people, and really accomodating. I was 45 inutes late at the end of the day and they still took me and my girlfriend. The guide was really wonderful, the horses were sweet, and the instructional video at the start is quite cute. really fun hour and a half. Vacationed in lake George and took my kids here for an hour ride. Been to many riding facilities so I know what is good and what is bad. This is a two star because the trails were a mess. Uneven, muddy, uncleared of tree debris. Flies everywhere due to horse feces not being picked up. The guide and the owner were very nice, but I won't be back. Paid $45 for a private ride. Did not like the push for tipping the guide. Sign at the end of the ride encouraging tips was a little excessive. read more

This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced in 20 + years in North Creek, Chestertown area for our year round get aways. We had a 3pm hour long ride reserved, arrived at 245, and still had not gone out on horses at 415, when we requested either another time the next morning where we would not be waiting for over an hour, or a refund. I was immediately called "nasty" by the buffoon in charge, for making these requests. I took the refund. They are the absolute worst! If people stop patronizing terribly run businesses, they will improve or go out of business! Also they are not following covid precautions as advertised! That was another issue that we kept debating because it was outside but lots of people not wearing masks, not staying 6 feet apart and I never saw them sanitize a saddle or a helmet in the over an hour wait. Go anywhere else!! I'm reporting them to the local chamber of commerce as well because they should be advertising a place that has such terrible customer service!!! read more

Staff was very friendly, and horses were well trained, when we went the price was 45$ a person for a 1hr trail ride, we also tipped our guides 10$. I don't know why others said they had a bad experience, I would definitely recommend this ranch. One suggestion I have is to have another trainer in the back of the horse line on the trail.. I was there today with my sons and addtl ppl in the party. A few of the horses that they set us up with were not listening to commands and being unruly. My youngest son who is 7 was patiently sitting on his horse waiting for the trail ride to begin when another horse came up from behind him and bit him on the leg leaving teeth marks and a bruise the size of a small cantelope melon on his upper thigh. Needless to say we all ended up not continuing the trail ride and I rushed him back to our hometown and seeked medical attention. The woman in charge refunded us our money but then the owner showed up and made a comment to the woman about how all 7 of us wanted refunds. We had 4 kids with us did they really think the other children wanted to stay on the horses after what happened...smh. the owner not once offered an apology or was compassionate about the situation. read more

Our family was staying in Lake George for the weekend & decided to go Trail Riding at Circle B one afternoon. I was kinda impressed with the employees & facility from the beginning... seemed to be a very knowledgeable & friendly place. Loved the video they made us watch prior to riding - helped ease some fears my niece had of the horse. The owner was there helping to match up horses w/ riders & did a great job getting us accustomed to our horse & making sure we knew it's name & made that first 'bond" together. But as soon as we left the corral, things started going downhill. Our trail guide, Andy, was rather cocky & didn't seem to care too much about helping people out or putting them at ease. I was the only one in our group that had horseback riding experience & thought his assistance would have been nice. The entire ride - nothing but arrogance & snide comments came from the front of the pack. The trails were a MESS! Muddy, filled w/ large rocks & roots - extremely dangerous! I couldn't believe they led trail rides through this path everyday, all day long! They seemed to have a nice area to ride w/ lots of woods... perhaps an alternative trail would be nice! The horses were slipping & tripping the entire hour ride, at one point a horse was down on 3 legs, but Andy never stopped... the other riders were asking if everything was okay, but Andy just kept on going. For having to pay $33 a person for a one hour ride... I wasn't impressed. Maintain the trails a little better! Not only for the safety of the riders, but what about those poor horses that have to do that day in & day out, over & over again? Think about how they must feel! Oh, and then the real kicker was at the end of the trail on our way back to the barn they have a "funny" sign about making sure to tip your guide. Really? I just paid $33 to ride for an hour & I have to tip the trail guide that never gave a care in the world unless it revolved around him?! I just thought that was pretty tacky. I think the sign by the corral gate was enough about tips... why so many? Anyway, all in all - the majority of our group had a good time, but we were just disappointed in the trail & the trail guide most of all. I think alot more fun could have been had by all with just a little more effort put forth! We probably won't go back in the future... there are other stables around that do the same thing, we'll try them out first. read more
