They worked so well together, were cheerful (even though it was incredibly hot, and my apartment was on the third floor with no elevator) and wouldn't let me touch a thing. I recently used safe & sound moving 11/2018 after closing on my new home I contacted 3 moving companies all three responded in some way within 10-25 mins but safe and sound was by far the most efficient and helpful I didn't have to jump through a bunch of hopes I simply text them how many rooms I needed moved how many floors the homes were and I got an estimate that was fair and they whorls be able to do my moves within a day or two I gave them a deposit super easy. First time hiring a moving company, Jaber and his mate were awesome! Almost cleared up my 2b2b in half an hour and assembled everything back with great efficiency, too. Even when I told them a lot of my furniture are just ikea stuff that don't need special protection, they still insisted covering them with blanket and protection wraps. Awesome service attitude as well, very friendly. Manager Hadi was also super responsive to yelp chats, and they even send out reminder text to make sure everything goes well the day before. (The only downside maybe that they arrive later than scheduled time by 1.5 hours, but it wasn't an issue for me on that day as I didn't have anything else to work on. My husband and I used S&S moving company for an "in town" move and we were INCREDIBLY satisfied! We moved from a 3br house into another 3br house and the whole move took 3.25hrs door to door! The scheduler is great. You do have to put a deposit down but its refundable and he said you cancel or reschedule up to day before as I was concerned with weather. Their rate seemed higher but its because they include 4 movers instead of two. The downside of 4 movers though is not all of them seemed experienced. For example, other moving companies remove the dining leaf and wrap it separate, or shrink wrap the legs to prevent scratches. They didn't do that. My sons twin bed was not reassembled correctly, and so one of the sideboards cracked in half when he sat on his bed a week later. My husband's desk had a few scratches. The rowing machine i had told him to put it upstairs but he left in downstairs bedroom. Plus theres more risk having 4 guys vs 2 in your house.. one showed up without a mask, so i provided.They still worked hard but If I had to do it over, I would probably go with the first moving company I used which was only two guys but very experienced in how they handled and wrapped the furniture. read more

These guys were the most reasonably priced movers on the market. I was getting quotes from Allied and National for about $4000 to move my 800 sq ft ranch home from Chapel Hill to Philly. These guys did it differently. A base rate for the drive and then hourly for the guys to load and unload, cost me $1500 less than the big chain movers. They also used one truck, so your stuff isn't mixed in with anyone else's. They accommodated me on short term notice (less than two weeks) and got my stuff to my new place exactly when I asked for it. The movers themselves were amazing. Professional, efficient and super nice. The did the most amazing job getting the truck close to my townhouse in Philly that was on a narrow street; expert level parking a huge truck. Safe & Sound movers were the best we've ever used. The communication was perfect, keeping me aware of time frames, who would be calling us, etc. The price quoted was the price charged, no "add-ons" or changes. We were moving out of a 2 bedroom, 6th floor apartment in Raleigh to a local townhouse w/ 3 stories and narrow stairs with sharp turns. The three man crew was on time, brought plenty of quilts and wraps, and packed everything up quickly and carefully. They had a large truck and did it all in one trip. Their attitude was professional and friendly and the level of care they used was remarkable, even when we'd done a less-than-great job of getting tvs, etc. ready. I was nervous about moving in as we had just had the place painted, new carpet, etc. but they moved a truckload of furniture into three floors without even one ding, scratch, or misstep to the space or any of the furniture. They were very patient when we changed our minds a couple of times re: placement, weren't sure where something would fit, etc. and kept a courteous, friendly attitude from start to finish. They worked without a break for 4.5 hours. Several pieces, including a beast of a vintage desk 6+ ft long had to be disassembled and reassembled, with no instructions available, and even that was no problem. The way they wrapped over-stuffed recliners reduced the bulk--very helpful and kept our walls and furniture safe. We've used several movers over the years and S & S was the absolutely the best in every area. At the end of the move, while the crew was still there, the owner called to check if everything was going to our satisfaction, which was appreciated. All in all, these folks were just the best. We're very satisfied customers and they would be our first choice if we needed to move again. read more

The first terrible sign was spotting the crew I was assigned. They rolled up in a rented U-Haul truck without a company uniform or as much as an identifying t-shirt or hat. This was in sharp contrast to what was stated when I booked the company, when I had been assured we would be moving my goods in one of their company trucks, with professional movers. Their agent talks a good game over phone, but the situation immediately felt wrong in person. The lead mover and his coworker, Alfonso & Justin, were sour from the start. They had attitude, acting as if they were doing me a favor even though I was paying shy of two thousand dollars to move a one bedroom plus den to a location four hours away, as well as doing a large share of the physical work myself. I had arranged for the move to occur over two partial days, between two cities. On the load date, I was dismayed to see how slowly the guys were operating. They could be best described as lumbering, then picking up the speed when it was clear I was in eyeshot. If I had not done a great deal of the hauling and loading myself, the task would have taken twice as long--and been twice as expensive. The following day during the unload, which I had already prepaid per their company policy, the guys brought the hustle. This confirmed they knew exactly what they had been doing. The guys also talked a lot in hushed tones during both days. Whispering between each other is not a trait I want in my movers. When I booked the move I was told I could look forward to their 'A Team', who they send on their premium jobs. If this is their A Team, I'd shudder to see their B and C Teams. So many other disappointments that moving nightmares are made of: * The lead mover sneered when I asked him to confirm the truck would be locked and secured overnight. They didn't seem to think clients had a right to observe their work or ask about process. * I had confirmed upon booking the hourly charging would begin when actual physical loading began, but on load day the lead mover declared, no, he was going to start the hourly clock upon pulling in my driveway, before he and I had even met. * Earlier that day, their office had a wrong destination address on my file. They also didn't send texts and emails I was supposed to receive. * Before closing the loaded truck, I asked the lead mover not to place an industrial dolly directly over my bicycle that he had laid on floor of the truck. He snapped at me, stating that he knew what he was doing. Sure enough, I would later discover my bicycle wheel and brake were bent to the point the wheel would not freely turn any longer. * In the weeks since the move, I've been disappointed to see several boxes were badly damaged, and several items were scratched and dented. Just to be clear, I'm a skilled packer, starting the process 60 days before my move date. * At least 40 minutes of my prepaid unload time were remaining, and the guys already had the truck ignition started, ready to hit the road. This was beyond terrible--other companies would make good on all prepaid labor by offering support, shifting boxes around, asking if anything needed assembly, etc. At the close of our time together, the movers looked forlorn when I didn't extend a tip. Please. There were infinite reasons not to tip. These movers are overpriced for their skill level and professionalism. I would not hire Safe & Sound Movers again nor recommend their services. read more

Booking with Safe & Sound was easy and straightforward. The company scheduled the move for 12/20 starting between 3-5 pm for our 1 bedroom apartment which seemed precarious due to how late in the day we would start. On 12/19 we received text that the move was on for the next day then on 12/20 at 11 am, we received a call that the company was cancelling and could move us at earliest on 12/23 at 11 am (that's 3 days later if you're counting) due to "rain" and other bookings. We described that all our belongings were packed, our lease was ending, we had holiday plans, and the distance to the truck would be only ~50 ft totally on sidewalk and the unload directly into our garage. We also stated there was no concern with wet items and would certainly never be a safety issue unless planning to move the items while in flipflops with no moving gloves. The company didn't care and offered no opportunity to cut the cost to us, but did state they would refund our deposit and cancel if we wanted! Very convenient and thoughtful to punish the customer from a position of power knowing they can't find another company in 3 days in this area also provided the holiday is coming. The move went as every move before it has gone for us. No bells and whistles. Fast but we helped as much as possible to save on cost. They did wrap items well and were careful when needed. The movers were nice and easy going, as well. Moving should be rated based on speed and condition of your items before and after the move, as much as it should be based on customer service. Because intermittent rain lead to the delay of our move at the last minute despite all factors we presented, I'd say customer service is a 0 or 1. Many moving companies exist. Know that mildly inconvenient weather like rain means Safe & Sound will cancel with only several hours warning and no incentives to rectify the cancellation and will keep you in your apartment/home until they are available, meaning they won't move other appointments for you. Also, they're so small and overbooked you may have to wait upwards of 3 days to reschedule as they lack resources. read more

Safe & Sound Moving Company recently moved my house goods from Raleigh to Clayton with no issues. The company was great in verifying couple of times that the move was still on schedule prior to the move date, and on the day of the move, I got voice confirmation that the movers were on their way; I was given the time of window between 10am and 11am, and they should up at the house at 10:15am with a 30 minute heads up. I was also provided with the Driver/Crew Leader's name and mobile number. Travis, the driver/crew leader, did an outstanding job in making sure they stayed on time, being efficient, ensuring the crew team did not damage the furniture and while at both of the houses. He was very instrumental in solving some issues in getting furniture out of tricky places. Their rate was reasonable and the final total was also reasonable.
