We reserved transient dock space over a holiday weekend. While the marina was very busy and we weren't regular members at this marina, we were amazed at how well we were treated. Kenny, that works at the dock was great. Really helpful and ALWAYS happy! The slip was very easy to get in and out of, with a lot of space in between the docks. Also like that the docks were well lit, and there always seemed to be people around. The shower area was immaculate and the pool was an added bonus. We will use this marina again. read more

Marina is great, incredible staff, awesome customer service. However, they stock Hari Mari sandals, marketed towards mariners but apparently 'not safe from water damage' .... bought sandals there less than 6 months ago for a premium price and despite keeping them clean of salt, they fell apart. Reached out to the company and they said the sandals were 'not water safe'. Don't buy HariMari sandals at this shop read more

This is difficult to write -because I don't want to tip other boat owners off to this amazing little marina! However, Mike is fastidious and this Brewer shows it off: clean bathrooms, well groomed landscaping, nice pool - and well-maintained non-skanky slips. Cove Haven is one of about 20 yacht yards under the Brewer brand from ME down through NY. Being a member at a Brewer marina there are some perks: a few nights for 'free' at other Brewers, discounted gas... What really makes Cove Haven is the people though - great management, friendly fellow Sperry-clad boat owners, and an overall calm that can only be achieved on the water. read more

Based upon a recommendation from our broker (..I know), we arranged to have our new-to-us Sabre 452 hauled immediately after purchase. There were a number of items which needed to be addressed prior to moving the boat offshore to the Ches. Bay. Chris and Dave managed to complete an extensive list of projects in a very compressed time frame, including replacing the cutlass bearing, shaft seal, dropping the rudder and replacing the lower bearing seal and miscellaneous engine work. Yard rates are expensive everywhere but this is a case of getting full value what you pay. Despite being a part of Safe Harbors, the marina retains its local feel and personal service. We used Cove Haven as our base for a summer of cruising Narragansett Bay. Excellent facilities rigorously maintained. But above all that was the staff. Can't say enough good things about Dockmaster Kenny who was always responsive to any question or need from where to get the best groceries to local cruising info or the best seafood joints. In the office Alison's response to any request was always yes. Where to go for laundry service? "Here, let me print out a map for you!" I recently purchased a sailboat that was being stored at Brewer Cove Haven for the Winter. A few mechanical issues needed attention on the boat which I asked the Brewer Cove Haven Service department to have a look at. I authorized them to make certain repairs even though I never received a written estimate from them (which I now regret not requiring prior to my authorization). After the work was completed, I received their invoice and it is clear that the reported labor hours have been inflated. On one repair, I was charged 18 labor hours at 98.00 per hour and I know that the work was completed by 2PM on the 2nd day of service as I called the manager and he told me that the job had been completed. As another example, there were a few pieces wooden strapping on the boat that were used to hold the shrinkwrap down over the winter that I had already removed. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to take the wooden pieces off of the boat prior to the launch. It would have taken me MAX 15 minutes to remove the wooden strapping. I never authorized BYY to remove the pieces of wood, yet on their invoice, there is a line item charging for 1.5 labor hours to "remove wooden strapping in order to launch vessel". I never even authorized this yet have been charged $147.00.. to remove a few pieces of wood from the boat. After reviewing their total invoice charging 3,506.18, it is clear to me that this company gets away with over inflating labor hours on the work that they perform. The mechanic who performed the work did a fine job with the repairs however I feel like I was taken advantage of and cheated. Be careful authorizing the BYY Service Department to do any work on your boat without first receiving a written estimate detailing estimated labor hours. read more

We have traveled by sail boat up and down the Pacific coast from San Francisco to Panama, throughout the entire Caribbean, to Bermuda and up the East Coast to Newport, RI where we are now. We have covered at least 20,000 nm. During our travels we have visited MANY marinas and MANY shipyards and have NEVER been treated as poorly as we did at Cove Haven. Not only is the marina extremely hostile to children on board but the person in charge has severe anger management issues. We spent 6 months on the hard there doing a refit on our boat and paid all our bills on time, we never disrespected anyone and followed all rules and regulations but still our presence there was unwanted and it was made clear to us to the point that we were told to leave before the work on our boat was completed, our mast hadn't been stepped. Any sailor knows it is unlawful for any institution to send an unseaworthy boat out to sea. The only good thing I have to say about the place is the bathrooms and showers are great and the summer pool was a great asset along with the great lifeguards who taught swim classes to the kids. Other than that I DO NOT recommend giving this place any business until they change management. read more

We are new to this marina and have been so impressed with everything. I love getting helpful tips from Kenny when we gas up, and recently we had an issue with our Windlass and Pete and Frank were on it within 24 hours, fixed it and then called me to let me know why it jammed up ( to help us from let it happening again). The facilities are clean, the crew is professional and nice, we will be back next year! read more
