We asked Safe Space Construction to replace our old wood privacy fence and a portion of our chain link fence with a new cedar privacy fence. They exceeded our expectations. Steve is a perfectionist and you can see it in his process and in the final result. Our property has a steep slope. The top lines of the new fences descending the hill are graceful and simply beautiful. The boards don't just follow the uneven terrain, they are fitted to a smooth curve that has clearly been designed over the length of the slope. We didn't know this kind of art was a thing until we saw it. The bottom of the fences fit unerringly to the earth to ensure our 10 lb sausage dog does not find an opportunity to escape. Steve's welder built the sturdy steel frame for our 8 foot gate. The doors of the gate are well-balanced and swing back into place perfectly, so much better than the gate they replaced. The crew cleaned up and left the property in great shape. We are happy that we chose Safe Space Construction for our fence work and we plan to work with them again on other projects. read more

When we moved into our new-to-us house in 2019, the deck was levitating. Okay - to be honest, we didn't need a seance, but the deck posts weren't actually in the ground. Had high hopes when I got the quote from them, and I wrote off some minor problems as going along with the times - communication glitches, repeatedly forgotten details, organization problems, etc. But those communication issues turned into a couple of problems with the project, most significantly with the step going off the deck, and in trying to get that corrected one of the workers that had been sent out was rude and hostile. But it got fixed, so I thought, and I moved on. Then two months later I had a guest at my house who is a contractor and he almost fell on the step. He looked at it more closely and said it wasn't attached correctly. I made 3 attempts to get Steve to address the issue and apparently he first blamed me for their construction problem and now he won't return my emails/texts even though I said the contractor called the step a hazard. read more

Steve did an excellent job of replacing my backyard fence. He provided the best estimate and finished the job sooner than expected. Another plus besides the great price and the quality work, is that Steve is approachable, amicable and explains the entire process ahead of time to give you a clear understanding of the work involved. During the initial assessment, i was talking to Steve about some tree roots that remained in my yard after a large Bradford Pear was removed. He gave me some insight as to the best approach to removing the left over roots. Much to my surprise, once the fence project was completed, i noticed the tree roots were gone. He took them out at no extra charge. This is just another example of his great customer service mission and Steve's helpful attitude. Our project was very complex and took three months to complete. It turned out better than the original design which had to be abandoned due to a difficulty in joining the new construction to the old. This challenge cost us more money and Steve and his crew more work. But they solved the problem and we love the result. Here's what I think makes this company stand out: Steve, the owner, is a really good guy and honest. His foreman, Noe, is an excellent carpenter and does quality work. Right at the start Steve told us that he would not consider the project done until we were totally happy with it. And he kept his promise! The reason I haven't given 5 stars is that the construction crew repeatedly left their food trash all over the property, and even in front of my neighbor's place. I had to go around and pick it up to keep my dog from getting to it, etc. Also I hope Steve can upgrade his software because as the project went over budget by about 11% it was difficult for us to follow his numbers. This is because his statements didn't clearly show the credits for what we had removed from the project and how the extra costs were accounted for. Because of this both parties had to spend extra time and effort. One final word of advice: go for the hidden screw option if you're doing a deck. It is SO worth it and looks terrific! read more
