Extremely disappointed with the Safelite McKinney location. Based on the reviews, this clearly isn't a one-time issue -- it seems to be a pattern. My first appointment was canceled because no technician was available. The second appointment gave me a 12-5 service window, and I didn't receive a call until 2:30 PM telling me they didn't even have the glass. I wasted half my day waiting because there was an utter lack of basic business practices and communication with customers. What's most frustrating is how unbothered everyone seemed. Other than an apology, there was no urgency, accountability, or real effort to make things right. At some point, apologies stop meaning anything when customers continue dealing with the same problems repeatedly. Customers shouldn't have to rearrange their schedules multiple times because of poor planning, lack of communication, and operational failures from a national company that should know better. read more

Terrible customer service and unreliable. I had 2 appointments scheduled and they never showed up, or even called. I had to call them and they were having issues reaching the shop. They said they were going to email the shop and have them call, which they never did. I recommend going somewhere else more reliable. Highly disappointed in Safelite, McKinney, TX location. We are on our fourth attempt and no one has called us back. The first appointment was canceled because the glass was not available. The second was canceled when the technician called in sick--we were notified at 11:00 a.m. the day of. The third (most recently, yesterday) was canceled because the technician had to leave work. We got a call at 10:00 am advising us. I spoke with a representative who assured me she would escalate the issue to her manager. I can see why they have such bad reviews. I took my Tesla there today after being quoted $467. I walked in the door and the receptionist did not even look up until I asked her after waiting 5 minutes if I was in the right place. She finally attended to me and told me that I needed to pay an amount over $1200. I said I was quoted $467 to which she replied that price did not include the calibration. My response was that I didn't need the calibration since you can do it yourself by simply putting the car in calibration mode and driving 25 miles. She would not relent so I left after wasting my morning with them. I will never go back after that bait and switch. read more

CAUTION! Windshield replacement with late model cars is complex. You're paying a deductible regardless. Take it to a dealership! I had an appointment for 11 am. They said it would take 2 hours. I said I needed to wait, and they said maybe a little sooner. At the 2.5 hour point I checked at the desk, and they said it was in calibration, maybe 30 more minutes. At the 4 hour point, they said they couldn't achieve calibration and would likely need to reinstall another windshield. That couldn't be done for 10 days due to the adhesive needing to cure. None of my car's safety features work like collision avoidance, lane change assist, cruise control, lane centering, etc. So, waiting 4 hours all for not. They will get back to me in a couple of days on the way ahead. I do not appreciate the twice as long wait, often with me as the only one in the waiting area, but at no time did anyone tell me how it was going or any challenges they were having. They use third party materials which is the apparent cause of the problem. That means inferior to genuine parts. Oh, and the steering wheel was filthy and sticky when they return the vehicle. These people broke the overhead console on my elderly father's Porsche and tried to SUPERGLUE it back (?!?!). When my dad obviously pointed out that that's not ok, they said they'd order the part to fix it. He's called and physically visited multiple times at his own expense. Still no part after a month, they even acted like they didn't know if it had been ordered after a month! My dad ended up taking it to the dealership to be fixed. Safelite said they would pay for it. Front desk staffs treated me like their subordinate, not their customer. The technician who was working on my windshield chip talked to me with the same attitude even though he knew how to fix the problem and did a pretty good job. Their tag line is they cover their repairs and replacements with a lifetime warranty but that is very false and misleading. They fixed a tiny chip in my windshield about 6 months ago and now that chip has turned into a full blown crack to where I have to replace my entire windshield. I called them because I was sure they will take care of it and was told that they don't. They will put any payment I made towards replacing the windshield (which is $1000 for the replacement). The customer agent even admitted that it sounds like they offer unconditional warranty. It should be illegal for them to offer unethical information. I will never use them again and will make sure I advice others not to use them. If I could give less than 1 star I would!!!! read more

I did. They lady tried to schedule me for Saturday 8am-5pm. I told her that wasn't acceptable and I wanted it done today (Friday). She said they'd come out. Another 8am-5pm window. They never did. I've cancelled the service and will report them to USAA, the BBB and every review site on the Internet. These people are complete liars and unprofessional clowns. Caused over 5,600 dollars in damages! Completely horrible service, after they installed a non-oem without notifying me my cameras were unable to be re-calibrated so I had to schedule another appointment, after installing the proper windshield I still had a calibration issue and another appointment was needed with them but they still couldn't figure it out. Safelite replaced the glass on our Honda Ridgeline. In the first week we discovered they broke the plastic cover on the windshield for the front sensor camera and tried to hide the damage by taping it, but I found the broken piece in my cup holder. We waited the appropriate time before allowing the vehicle to get wet. After about two months we started getting a leak in the cab. Worried we took the truck to the Honda dealership only to find the windshield was poorly installed and had to be replaced again. We had a scheduled appointment with Safelite for 5/29. When the technician arrived he did not have the proper software to properly calibrate my husband's vehicle so he left stating that someone would contact us to reschedule. They never called us to reschedule. We reached out to our insurance company, Liberty Mutual, to get it rescheduled but they have not been able to get through to the shop. They provided us the phone number and they never answer the phone. My insurance company has stated they have emailed the manager of the shop twice and they still have not called anyone back. Go someplace else unless you want to be disappointed. To make matters worse, we could request a different vendor but the glass is now on backorder. Horrible experience with Safelite!!!! I made an appointment online to have a small chip repaired after a rock smacked my windshield on the highway. The actual repair process was excellent. For a 9:30am Saturday arrival, the place was nearly empty except for 1 other person. The staff was friendly and the guy got right to work giving us the Safelite spiel and guarantee before the team took the car back to fix the chip. The waiting area was very clean and they have drinks, coffee, tea, and snacks for you to munch on while making fun of whatever TV show is on. It's a very chill environment. Less than 30mins later, my car's done. Of course, the chip is still visible (and that's the case unless you replace the entire windshield) but it's definitely better now than it was before and if anything were to happen with the chip, there's that lifetime guarantee that I can always rely on. My only wish is that they had: 1) More appointments available. I was scheduling right after Thanksgiving week so maybe that was why pickings were slim. 2) A wider window of availability since most of us work during their regular hours and don't want to opt for a 12pm - 4pm "they come to you" repair window. read more

They confirmed during that call and a subsequent call that they had it all correct. Tech showed up for appt, says he's sorry but has the wrong windshield so we will have to reschedule. There is a disconnect between having an appointment and actual inventory, even when you've input all of the information in online. The first appointment I had made, I dropped my car off and about 40 min after, I received a call that they didn't have the specific windshield they needed for my car and was later told they had used the one intended for mine for someone else. A little frustrated, but I understand errors happen, so made another appointment for the next week when they had another windshield being shipped. When I was checking in the second time, another customer was complaining to the front desk about the very same thing -- so that was kind of a red flag, but again, I understand things happen and it seems to stay pretty busy. I asked to make sure they had the windshield for sure this time before I left. Later, once again, got a call saying the windshield that was supposed to be used for my car was chipped. Needless to say, it was upsetting. BUT. The technician Giancarlo pulled through for me. He constantly updated me and was super nice and absolutely made me feel like he would make sure it was taken care of and he did a great job once they were able to get the windshield replaced later that day. These guys are crooks!!! I am a progressive customer, not for very much longer! I go on their website to get a quote, I start by getting with my insurance. They come back with $480 plus saying my insurance won't cover it. So I then try without my insurance and get a quote for $355. I get a notice from progressive saying a claim has been submitted. I check the site they have submitted and progressive's site says I have to pay nothing out of pocket!!! I then call progressive to figure out what is correct? Waste of time they can't tell me squat has no clue. SHOCKER!!!! She then says she will transfer me to claims. You would think that would be to progressive??? Nope they transfer me to Safelite Progressive???? Yes these two crooks are in cahoots!!! So after figuring it out I thought and scheduling my service for today for the $355 estimate I was given for mobile service!!! They send me an email with a pic of my tech William only the William that showed doesn't resemble the William in the pic. So William says ok we are ready to do the work that is going to be $550 something???? I'm like no I have a quote for $355 that's is what I booked the appointment for. He calls his boss, and the $200 extra charge is for mobile services and other BS. I'm broadcasting this all over social media and on every review platform!! My 2021 mazda had cracked windshield. Safelite replaced windshield and calibrated windshield for 1000.00. 3 weeks later automatic wipers stopped working. I never put the 2 incidents together. Took my car to shop, tech stated whoever replace windshield try to tape the sensors to the window. After market windows don't have the proper connector. They never told me anything about automatic wipers not working. For 1000.00 I thought is should be correct. I will never use the for and broken window. read more

My dad sent me here to replace my windshield a couple years ago, and since then I've used them 3-4 times for different cars. They are super fast and friendly! The lobby is very clean and they have coffee, water, etc. I literally know nothing about cars and these people always know what they're doing and never make things confusing or difficult. They also always have the paperwork/warranty/receipt ready with the car and do a good job summarizing your service before you leave. I appreciate the time they take to talk things out.
