Don't waste your time at this unprofessional facility!! When you make an appointment for an installation they're not telling you that they throw you in the mix and at the end of the day they may or may not have your car done. They have a horrible selection and a skillet and crew running the whole thing. It's just a waste of time to go there find someplace else that will not give you the runaround. Car toys is advertising not only auto detailing but Paint protection film and ceramic coating. I made a down payment, spoke to the detail person and the manager. I asked the detail employee what his process was for ceramic coating because I have ceramic coated a truck on my own in the past and wanted to be certain they were not cutting corners . My questions were answered he told me 4 day turn around. After a week of waiting for them to call me in regards to the PPF and whether it was in , I called myself they reply was yes I then brought my truck to them 2 DAYS LATER NOT THE 4 DAYS I WAS TOLD BY THR DETAILER I was called told it was ready . I looked the car with the detailer the vehicle was filthy bird droppings on the roof not ceramic coated Wheels filthy brake dust not ceramic coated . PPF multiple bubbles dirt in seams back bed rear roof spoiler filthy. Excuses were flying from the detailer . Excuses from Manager lies about completely cleaning the vehicle & about paint correction . Then I was told they would make it right and remove labor . Still dirty wheels still not ceramic coated rocker arms filthy no ceramic coat gaps and bubbles still in PPF . They only discounted it 200$ this was a massively expensive process on a Heavy duty truck that I will have to have redone . Especially the PPF . And the 4 guys the manager said would be working on my truck ended up being one person . He actually told me personally that was the case . DONT NOT HAVE DETAILING OF ANY SORT DONE HERE . They excuses I kept hearing given to myself and other customers that were also there for services complaining was sorry we were busy it got missed . Poor management, no work ethic no standard of high quality work demanded of any employee there which again is a management issue. read more

Car toys use to be a good place to go. Now I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Selection inside is a joke. The only reason to go would be for the team to instal somethjng but with the people working there now... I'd try Best Buy or something else. This location can't handle basic questions and will sit and talk with the team mates while you stand and wait for someone to come and talk to you. Comparable to radio shack. They were great for a time. But that time is gone. read more

I had scheduled an appointment for window tint. On the website it says that I was supposed to get a phone call to go over the products and the services. I also received a text with the same info. Never got called. When I showed they said they don't have my appointment. But no Biggs. They told me that they were going to get done in about 5 hours or so. This was at 10 am. Well I call at around 3 and they said that they haven't started on my car. It took them till 12pm the next day to get done with my car. It If I knew that was the case I would've kept my car and ran some errands instead of leaving it in a shop for 5 hours without being touched. But they did good with the tint. read more

Went in to get my radio replaced in my 98 jeep. Mind you that the old radio did not have static in it at all when I arrived at Car Toys .Drove out with a new radio that had very bad static. After getting back from vacation, I went back to this location. Told them the radio has static after the run around they change out the radio, still static. They tell me the antenna needs to be replaced. So I replace the antenna still static. I go back up there. He checks his work, puts fresh contact to the power source. Tells me he out of options. So I'm out $300. and have a radio that has so much static you can barely hear the music. I wouldn't recommend this place to get your radio replaced. Not sure if it was because I was a girl or what. So I usually do not do reviews but this is an exception. I will not tell anyone do or don't patronize these guys, but here is the details, you make your own decision. I will say think very very hard about your options. I go in and speak with a Sales Rep about replacing my Pioneer head unit with updated Bluetooth and front and rear cameras. I am convinced by the Rep that I should go with an upgraded unit from what I was interested in because it used HD cameras and was on sale. Ok I set an appointment for the next Saturday and we are off to the races. I arrive on Saturday to drop off at 9:00 am and was told it would take till around 4:00 pm. The HD cameras were $219.00 each compared to a standard camera at $99.00. I show up to pick up having a 5:00 pm dinner reservation and the car is not done. At 5:15 I am off but the sound is horrible. I call back 10:00 minutes later and ask how can this be, did they not test and set up, and the front camera is flipped backwards. how will this help me parking. response was please come back in the morning and we'll look at. Three hours later on Sunday and the install Tech says well I need to contact Kenwood and find out how to flip the image on the camera. Really, we're installing equipment you don't know how to work. As for the sound I think it has something to do with your existing Kicker amp. We need to speak with Kenwood on that also. the Next Saturday we are at it again, well the head unit won't work with a front HD Camera. Ok you sold me this, shouldn't you know what works and doesn't. We'll change it out and it will work perfect. I spoke with the Manager by phone, you charged me for an HD camera at $219.00 vs a standard at $99.00, we'll make this right. I have never received a refund. We think there is a conflict with the head unit and the Kicker amp but we still need to speak with Kicker and Kenwood. Stopped working again the next day. 4Th visit, I am going to add a capacitor or something, don't recall what he called it. 3 Hours later I pull out and it is working and sound is better. I made it 2 blocks and it completely shut down again, I phoned back less than 5 minutes later. well come on back, we really think it's an amp issue. Oh I almost forgot this was after another $108.00 charge for something that worked for 5 minute. Ok so at this point I have $2063.00 invested in a head unit upgrade with cameras and I am wishing I left my Pioneer in, it worked perfect I just had to use a USB cable but it worked flawlessly. Plus another $108.00 that did nothing. How much is a new amp, well the amp we recommend is a JL Audio, with remote bass adjust. Amp is on sale at $899.00 and $100.00 for the bass adjust then installation and shop supplies total of $2000.00. In the interim I figure out the install is blowing the fuse, this is why it keeps shutting down completely. I get a phone call, please bring the car back, I am the Senior expert installer from the Plano store and we want to get this fixed. Ok, first issue is why is this blowing fuses, is it grounded properly or is a wire shorted in the install? Another appointment is set for Saturday at 9:00 am. Visit #5, there at 9:00, spent time discussing my entire ordeal, we are going to get it in and trace everything back. It may run into overnight. Sorry I won't leave the car overnight. After some conversations with other installers it shouldn't take 8 hours for a head unit install and surely shouldn't take 10 plus hours to trace the install and check for grounds. 6 Hours later I walk in and the expert installer is working on a new install on another car. Ok, my assumption is my car is done, I am ready to roll. Well Sir let me get the installer. No we're re not done. Well if you made an appointment to fix my issue and you're working on something else you must be done. Issue is you've never touched my car. While I appreciate you pulled it into the garage away from someone in a public parking are slamming a door into it, taking a new job because your selling new parts and working on mine as an afterthought is not my idea of Customer Service and Support for the cash you've already made. Bottom line is Great at selling you something not some much when it comes to getting it right. What should have been a plug and play with adding cameras has turned into a nightmare and rather than concentrating on making it right it is way more important to sell more stuff. They'll make an appointment to fix it if it doesn't work correctly but it will be at their timing your appointment is just a recommendation. Sorry, this was long if you read the whole review but if you have a nice car looking for an upgraded stereo, you decide if you want to live with this kind of Service? read more

I had been considering replacing my stock Jeep stereo with something an audiophile would appreciate. Upon entering Car Toys, this "kid" of a sales rep, Jake, offered to help me. Over the next six weeks, Jake demonstrated various radio heads and speaker combinations. He even let me experience his own powerful setup in his car. The first radio head Car Toys installed proved disappointing even though it sounded good in the booth. Jake replaced it with another head and got a really punchy, crisp sound for a Jeep-even with the convertible top off. Through the entire experience, I knew I had the right person striving to assemble a sound system I would enjoy for many years to come. Jake has plans to upgrade my wife's Mazda-rotti soon. read more

Well, do not believe the pricing posted for services. Such in my case I had a small monoblock amp install done, on their website which shows an install fee of $125, (that includes the install and install kit) - turned into a $315 install. Contacted the Cartoys corp offices, but they never bothered to respond. Gave them an opportunity to respond, but nothing. Make sure they provide a real cost prior to work as they seem to make up a lot of erroneous charges at this location. read more

We need 1/4 star ratings at YELP! Talk about a business that will say anything to get a customer into their store to put the high pressure sale techniques on them. I called one weekday to get an estimate on have some stereo equiment installed. I told the guy Jason(?) the equiment I had, what I wanted done, what I was going to need from them, and what vehicle I had. He gave me an estimate of "...approximately $400..." I thought it was a bit high but decided it was reasonable since that is about the going rate for an install. I told him I would come by and make an appointment and let him give me some ideas on where he thought placement of my amps should go plus I wanted a written estimate. When I got there I asked for him. His installer accompanied him my vehicle and I showed them a few pieces of my stereo. They started talking and asking me questions. Anyway, to make a long story short I asked him for the total, out-the-door price. He hit the total button and $1639.xx popped up. I wanted to laugh and get pissed off at the same time. I was mad for 2 reasons: One is that it increase 4x in cost; Second is they must have thought I was some really uneducated fool to even consider this. Needless to say I will never use them for anything. This was blatantly dishonest and not good business practice. I ended up going to Custom Concepts in Allen. I got a fantastic install exactly how I wanted it, and it was less than the original quote I got from Car Toys. For everthing I needed plus the install it was only $380. CarToys should be ashamed. read more

I had a head unit installed that had a GPS system integrated with it. The first time it was installed the GPS unit couldn't track the car so I took it back. The antenna was install on the head unit. The installer said it was the best place to install it which I knew was actually the worst. I asked him to look at it again and fix it. He said he drove it around and got it to work it just need some baloney reason he made up. I took it back a second time and took off the plastic covering the stereo showed how when I took the antenna off the head unit I got better reception using a diagnostic setting on the stereo. Left the car there to get fixed and got some dumb excuse why it worked better on the head unit. I drove it home and it wouldn't track my car driving down the road. I took it back a third time and told them that I paid $50 more than a regular stereo install for the GPS install and wanted it installed correctly on the roof because it doesn't work. I came back and for the third time they fed me a line of baloney about not moving the antenna. I finally had to push the point and make the situation extremely uncomfortable to get them to do the job right and right then by asking how many times I needed to come back and have the job done right. They finally installed it on the roof in 15 minutes and it works perfectly. These guys would rather cut corners than do the job right the first time. read more

After having installation performed at another location, I brought my Jaguar here to have them fix some issues with crackling/popping. Half an hour after I dropped it off I got a call from one of the techs saying to come on up, that he had fixed it already. Showed up, turned some tunes on and the issues had subsided. Come to find out I would lose my functionality of my factory installed dvd and navigation systems. Ended up buying used factory stereo and these guys installed it quickly and made phone call to save me trip to Honda to get radio code. Great service and knowledgeable employees. See prev review dated 10/18/2018. Just downgraded to 1 star (at best). In addition to the prior issue over the quote vs actual cost, last week I found out just what a shoddy job was done on mounting the rear view Camera itself. Ran the truck thru a carwash and the camera was left dangling over the bumper held on by the wiring. They just "slid" the camera mount behind the license plate instead of mounting it with a screw. All for a whopping $160 for 30 minutes of work. I could of done a heck of better job myself but at 72 and with a bad back, I couldn't climb under the F-150 to do the wiring and mounting of the camera myself. read more

Did you know they fix cloudy headlights!!! I heard they were able to fix this, so I thought I'd give it a try. They did whatever it took to remove the cloudy from my headlight! I couldn't believe it! I have a 12yr old car that still had the factory stereo. It worked great, but I wanted to update with a backup camera, hands free android-auto and navigation. Rip off? Yes. Absolutely. Went to them with a remote locking kit to install - figured I would save some money and get it myself and then just have them install. Not only charged me for "installation" of the kit, but put a surcharge for each door to install the lock. Sounds like installation to me. But not having any other choice or the experience to do it myself I had no choice. No way would I go there again. To install my central / remote locking? Save yourself the trouble and go to Frisco. After telling them the year, make, and model of my daughters car, I was told an "out the door" price on a stereo that included free installation. I asked about scheduling it and they told me to come on in so I took of work and drove an hour to get there. I manage a business so taking off work is no easy task. When I got there, they asked when I wanted to schedule it bc they didn't have time for me. After explaining how far I drove and how hard it is to get off work, They asked if I could leave it overnight. Um... What part of I drove an hour did they not comprehend? They got a tech and looked at my daughter's car then told me they needed to special order the install kit. Um..... Why didn't they look that up when I told them over the phone what kind of car my daughter has? It only cost me gas and half a days work. That was only the beginning. They told me to come back Sunday and the part "should" be there but they could not verify it because all they can do is send an email and wait. I asked if it was going to cost extra and was told "no, it's included". Here come the string of lies. Since I cannot just drive back and forth and will be short handed for the next 2 weeks, I needed to be sure that Sunday was a go. The guy then tells me to go on Amazon and get it myself on prime to save myself money. Wait... Wasn't it included? Now, it's not included. Ugh. I ordered the parts expecting the price to be lowered. Nope. The free camera was going to cost 130 more to be installed so I debated for a minute than decided to go ahead so it would all be done and over with. The salesman then tells me that my 450 out the door price was just a guess and that free installation is just labor, not parts for the install. What? I asked for my new price since I bought my own install parts and the price didn't change. He THEN tells me they were going to add the parts to the total, the same ones they said were included 2 minutes prior? He had already worked up the total before he realized parts were not in stock, yet NOW it was going to have more added to it? Hmmmmm.... The numbers and explanations went in circles so I just bought the stereo and will have it all installed locally. While I was being talked to in circles, my husband (who's out of state) called the Frisco location and the lady asked what kind of car and immediately told him that it had to be ordered and the shipping time depended on how much extra I was willing to pay on shipping, however none of the options would have had it there by Sunday. So.... Had I let the guy I was working with order it, I would have paid more + shipping and tax PLUS wasted a trip on Sunday. Great! Frisco store was upfront and honest vs the constant back peddling and I was getting from McKinney. So $450 over the phone became $570+ parts, shipping and tax. I paid $300 for the stereo including tax, $30 for parts on Amazon including expedited shipping, and our local stereo shop is charging a total of $100 for installing the camera and stereo, including a lifetime warranty. I read the fine print on the car toys website and the additional fees are in there, you just have to dig for it. The worst part of this whole thing was being lied to and talked to in circles. I not only wasted half a day, I got to drive back with a disappointed daughter who was very excited to have her new stereo installed. She's ok with waiting after thinking about it and saying "I wonder if they lie to everyone like that or just females". Kudos to Frisco for being honest and real, McKinney needs training. read more
