I had a rock chip to repair before it got worse. My insurance company called Safelite. Summary: 1. Communication was OUTSTANDING. A text the night before. A text the morning of. A call from the tech when he was on the way. Another call when he got there. A text when it was complete. 2. Took maybe 45 minutes. 3. The Tech, SAM, was very professional, his work was great. The windshield seal had a pin hole leak that caused $500 in electrical damage, plus having to rent a vehicle. They claimed it was not there issue, yet they replaced the windshield seal. They took pictures of a black seal to try and make there point (lame)! Some $700 later. read more

Safelite, & specifically Jeffrey, saved my ( . ) on our 1/2 way across country road trip (that we're still currently on, but he did such a great job, I wanted to write this review before I forget). We left San Diego July 17th, and went through Scottsdale AZ, Denver CO, Deadwood SD & now in Spearfish SD... & still have Royal Gorge CO, Arches National Park & Tombstone AZ before heading back to San Diego. Half hour into Colorado, stupid Google Maps sent me down a 10 mile loose gravel road where everyone was doing 30mph, except one dump truck doing 50... I could literally see the rock fling from his front tire in fast slow motion to the upper corner of the drivers side windshield... hitting as I'm finishing saying ah sh!t in my head. Started off w/ a small circular crack, spread 8" in a half hour or so & an additional 12" downward into my line of sight during a nasty hail storm in Denver, so I needed to get this replaced. The VW Dealer in Denver wanted $850 due to rain sensors, so I tried a couple other places on Yelp that all wanted $400 to $500 w/out rain sensors. I tried Safelite's website, got a quote in about 2 minutes & set up an appt. for a week later in Deadwood SD at a place called Cadillac Jack's Hotel and Casino... $512 total, including rain sensors, $15 for an early bird appt. so we could get back on the road ASAP & $50 to come to us (from half an hour away). Jeffrey completed the job in about an hour, in a poorly lighted area (underground parking garage of the hotel and casino we were staying at) & wasn't happy until every last smudge & smear was off the windshield once he was done. Afterwards, he said not to drive it for about a half hour and then we're fine. We grabbed lunch, did a couple things and left town a couple hours later. About an hour later, now at our Airbnb, we experienced an even nastier hail storm. I'm convinced that if the windshield hadn't of been replaced, that hailstorm would have finished off the windshield. Even just a few hours after the install, we had no problems with the nasty storm... no leaks or anything. These guys are terrible. I made an appointment to have them fix my windshield at my office. It was -10 outside on the day I had my appointment , so I told the tech he could pull the car into my shop, where it was warm. The tech refused. When the temperature warmed up the next week, the compound used to fix the chip expanded and shattered my windshield. Safelites reply was "he should have never fixed it when it was that cold, but we can't guarantee our techs work. A new windshield will cost you $500." How can you run a business like this? Needless to say I went down the street and bought a new windshield from Dakotaland, for under $300. And they have fixed numerous chips for me since, with no problems. We had a chip repaired . We were very pleased. Then the problems started!! The repair started to fail and when we went to get it redone we were told that's how it was cosmetic. And that nothing could be done! We had 3 small cracks in our RV windshield. Service was on time at our location and techs were professional and friendly. Only time will tell if repairs will keep cracks from extending. The cracks are still slightly visible but not enough to bother me. My only complaint is that they asked after repairing if I used rainex on my windshield. (which I do) . Then said that was part of the reason cracks were still visible. Shouldn't they ask that first? I'm sure if they can put a sealer in the crack they could of put a cleaner in first to remove the Rainex. Overall satisfied with service. read more

Hail. It's inevitable here in the Black Hills. A tiny rock chip in my windshield was hit and grew spidery legs about an inch long. I called Safelite, made an appointment and took my car in. "It's repairable," they told me, so I gave them the keys. The young man worked on the tiny crack for almost an hour, told me before he started that he was afraid the legs of the crack might run, spreading the crack across the whole windshield. When he returned with the car, he showed me that the legs had lengthened a little, and said he wasn't sure the resin had penetrated well enough to keep them from running. He shook his head, quoted me $450 for a new windshield and told me he wasn't going to charge me anything for the work he'd done, since he couldn't guarantee it, couldn't say for certain that the repair would hold. I thought that was pretty remarkable. A business with lots of integrity. I do know that if those legs do run, I'll be going back to Safelite for a windshield replacement. read more

My young adults were traveling across the country from PA to CA when they got a cracked windshield in SD.
