Windshield cracks flat out suck. They're going to run you $500 regardless of whether you go through your insurance or out-of-pocket. That being said you want to ensure that you get the best replacement glass available with a reputable company and great customer service. I made an appointment online a week ago and received several emails and text messages prior to the installation this morning. The technicians were at the shop 20 minutes early and very friendly and accommodating when I came in. I watched the entire process from the waiting area and saw how professional and thorough they were. My installer was Erik who was assisted by Brandon. They turned the job around very quickly for me and did the entire installation in 36 minutes. Also thanks to Aaron for explaining things to me and providing commentary on the process. If you ever find yourself in the unfortunate situation of needing to replace windows, mirrors, etc. don't hesitate to use Safelite auto glass. read more

For a company that markets itself as "America's auto glass experts," my experience with Safelite was extremely disappointing. We brought our Mazda in on 2/14 for a windshield replacement. After waiting 3.5 hours, we were told they were unable to calibrate the windshield to the vehicle's sensors and that we would need to return in a week after it had time to cure. At the follow-up appointment, after another 3.5-hour wait, they still could not complete the calibration. My husband was not provided with a clear explanation of which sensors were affected, and there was no apology for the inconvenience. Instead, we were told they would need to work with our insurance company to potentially order a Mazda OEM windshield. In the meantime, they suggested we try having the dealership recalibrate it ourselves--which felt unprofessional and completely shifted the burden onto us. To make matters worse, they refused to release the hold on my credit card while the issue remained unresolved. Four weeks later, they finally ordered an OEM windshield and completed the installation correctly. However, there was no compensation for the multiple visits, lost time, or transportation costs (including Ubers for drop-off and pickup). Overall, this process was frustrating, time-consuming, and poorly handled from start to finish. If you're planning to use insurance for a windshield replacement, I strongly recommend going directly to your dealership to avoid the hassle we experienced. read more

I have appointment with safelite they remove the windshield and discovered a surface rust to me was very minimal that most glass shop would just put rustoleum and install a new glass. They decided that they would not install the new windshield and now will cost me $300.00 in towing back my vehicle to my house. I can barely see the rust on this photo. read more

TLDR; Safelite damanged my vehicle, edited photos to hide the damage, and have still not rectified the situation. I think I can speak for all of us when I say that life is tough. Shockingly to me, I still sometimes attempt to care for myself by being more active and doing activities that don't make me depressed. I arrived to Safelite to replace my passenger side window on my Toyota Tacoma. I put my bike in the bed of my truck so I could go on a bike ride while they were replacing my window. I asked when I arrived if I should take the bike out of the truck, but the employee said it will only take 30 minutes and you can leave the bike in the bed, you may know where this is headed by now. After they returned my car to me, I was driving away when I realized I didn't see my handlebars poking out of my rearview mirror. I pulled over to check on my bike and noticed that someone had slammed my retractable bed cover onto my handlebars of my bike now poking through my bed cover, with what must have been an incredible amount of strength might I add. Listen, I've read a lot of bitchy reviews from some very sad and frustrated people on here over the years. I don't want to be like that yall, and in that effort I tried reaching out to give them the chance to make things right. Oh how foolish I was. I called the customer service line and explained what happened. They then pulled up the before and after photos. The after photo was clearly edited to hide the damage they caused to my bed cover, I have attached photos here. If it wasn't happening to my car I would have found these before and after photos hilarious in how obviously edited it is to obfuscate the fact that they damaged my bed cover. Since then, I have contacted them many times over the course of several months. I brought my car in for a damage assessment, and have reached out multiple times and have been given voicemails, or no response, or someone saying they'll get with someone and will get back to me, but as you might guess by now, they never do. My daughter took her vehicle in to have her rear window replaced. After replacement she noticed that there was a gap between the window seal and glass, where the seal would wold water. After speaking with me she took the her car back to Safelite (same day) to have them address this. They told her it was "cosmetic". Frustrated she took her car to the dealer (same day) and they found broken clips that holds the seal in place as well as broken clips on part of the hatch, that vibrated while driving. Spoke with the manager once and then he refused to take my calls or contact me back. Contacted Safelite to speak with a DM, they created a case and I am yet to hear back from anyone. On Friday July 12, 2024 I took my 2021 Mazda CX-9 to Safelite at 12600 Interurban Ave S in Tukwila WA to get my front windshield replaced after a rock cracked it. I dropped my car off at 1:00 p.m. for what was supposed to be a pretty quick windshield replacement only to get a phone call saying they are having trouble recalibrating my cars safety systems. The Safelite person on the phone said Safelite has a hard time calibrating Mazda's, to which I said I'm concerned because you guys replaced a windshield in my old 2016 Mazda CX-5 turning it into Mr. Magoo (eventually that was fixed by the dealership)! I waited over an hour to receive my Mazda CX-9 with most of its safety systems still disconnected. Safelite said I would have to reschedule a second day for a Recalibration, and they asked me to bring my car back the following Monday, July 15, 2024 at 7:00 a.m., so I scheduled it and went to leave in my car with most of its safety system disconnected and noticed they left my rearview mirror loose and floppy. They finished recalibrating my car that morning so I went to pick it up around lunch and told the service counter guy if they fixed my rearview mirror back to the way it was when I dropped it off. He looked at me confused, understandable so I explained that they loosened it and when I go to press buttons on it or adjust it, it's loose, unstable and falls off the glass. He said it should be good to go so I went outside to look and came back to let him know it was still loose and unstable. He said "Oh, we will have to schedule you for a warranty service", I said "I'm sorry, I'd like you to have the technician that loosened it, get the tool to tighten it like it was when I brought it in here". He said "it would have to be a warranty service", I said I've not received my car officially and that it isn't hard to reach up under the rearview mirror with the tool that loosened it and tighten it back up the way it was when I brought my car in. Needless to say, the mirror is loose, falls off when touched and they made me reschedule another appointment, a 3rd day, yes, a 3rd day of Safelite over a simple window replacement for their incompetence, rudeness and unwillingness to simply tighten the rearview mirror that they loosened. I don't have the little tool or I would fix it myself, but they had the tool sitting right there in their shop, 15 feet away and could have simply returned my rearview mirror to the condition it was when I arrived several days prior. My cars dash was made dirty with debris, finger prints and an overall lack of care. Now Safelite is sending a truck and employee to my actual home to tighten a rearview mirror that they could have done in a few seconds at their repair facility. I get to enjoy 4 hours of the window that they gave me from 12-4 p.m., waiting around for them to show up. [Update], I canceled the appointment after getting a specialized screw driver and tightening the rearview mirror myself. I strongly recommend Safelite be avoided at all costs if you value your late model cars containing any safety features that require calibration. There are plenty of alternatives that care about the customer and returning late model vehicles to their customers the way they were dropped off, in solid working order. read more

Quality of work and do they stand by their work - yes. the reason for lack of review is the "appointment" process. I booked an appointment online, said to drop off the car by 9am - they did guarantee that it'll be done by end of day. Because I didn't have another ride, I told the guy at the counter that I'll be waiting in the lobby for it. So I get checked in and I began my wait. I literally watched over 35 people come in, get their stuff done and leave as I continued to wait. When I inquired about the wait they said it'll be soon. They didn't touch my truck until 3:45pm. I don't understand the point of an online appointment if I was going to wait nearly 8 hours before my truck would be worked on. I could have accomplished a lot that day if I could have just came in on a time they knew they would work on it. so if you have plenty of time or a ride - use them. if you're in a hurry, you'd have to ask the 30+ people as to why/how they were prioritized before me. Value wise - i can't say they are better or worse than anyone else. I've could have had it done cheaper at an independent shop but because Safelite had the earlist available appointment, I went with them, willing to pay a premium (about $150 more) but had I known it'd take as long as they did, I would have went another route as I had to take a day off of work to make this happen. read more

Even though they quoted us and had all our info for 2 weeks they said they couldn't had to handle our repair and had to send us to Bellevue. Complete waste of time. A Safelite installed windshield cracked within 10 days. Safelite refuses to honor their warranty. I was given the run-around by managers at the Tukwila location (Brian, Aaron) & their district manager (Zach.) If you must use Safelite, don't use their glass. Find OEM or 3rd-party glass. Use a credit card for chargeback protection. From my experiences, other reviews, & internet posts: there's likely a serious internal quality control problem with Safelite's glass. It's possible they're producing windshields with defects & passing this cost to consumers. They'll deny attempts at claiming warranty citing "impact damage"; refusing to admit any fault even if the crack happens right after installation. Given the coincidental timing & experiences of other customers at this store, you'd think they would entertain the possibility that their glass is at fault. They will not. They'll insist you open another insurance claim & file for an entirely new windshield. Claims crack is caused by impact & entire windshield must be replaced at full cost to consumer. 03/05/24 Called Safelite @REDACTED. Talked to Angelina in Customer Service. She put me on hold to talk to the local Safelite shop and/or technician. She couldn't reach the local shop but scheduled me an appointment & applied a $60 discount on the ~$370 total. I was unhappy with this & she agreed: "I don't see why they wouldn't (honor their warranty.)" However she couldn't honor it herself & said the Tukwila shop must agree to it. Angelina referred me to Brian or Aaron at Tukwila & provided their "direct line" of REDACTED. I called twice without answer. 03/06/24 Called the "direct line" ten times between 9am to 5:10pm. No answer. 03/07/24 Called "direct line" at 9:30am. Mick the Customer Advocate answered. We discussed the situation and he transferred me to a manager. On hold for 52 minutes before Brian was available. Said he'd chat with a quality control guy & call me back. 30 minutes later, he says it "looks like an impact crack." Note that Safelite never took pictures of the new crack. This early denial without evidence is a hint at Safelite's internal policy regarding these warranties. I called Safelite customer support; Robert sent me to Customer Cares at REDACTED. Amber at Customer Cares listens & escalates to Zach (District Manager) but couldn't give me a phone #. Said Zach'd call me in the next 48 hours. 03/10/24 3 days later, no calls from Zach 03/11/24 Visited Safelite Tukwila early for my 11am appointment. Talked to Manager Aaron. Turns out my appt was cancelled without notification. Aaron listens, has someone inspect, & confirms crack is "due to impact." They could not get my windshield out in my drive way so I had to drive down and wait in person at the shop. They scratched my vehicle in multiple places and cracked my fender. They lied and said all the scratches were pre existing. I told them one of the scratches I wasn't certain about but the rest were new. They also left broken glass and dirt all over my car and I think may have spilled some kind of glue on my dashboard. They did not do a walk through or give me any documentation of the scratches before they started on my windshield. read more

I made an appointment for Friday at 11 AM on Monday morning. I verified with the shop and insurance on Wednesday that we were good to go for the appointment. On Friday I arrived at 10:50 and dropped off the keys and understood they would need up to 3 hours. At 11:50 my car had no been moved and I asked when they would get to it and if I could still be on the road by 2 PM. They assured me I was next and "yes, it will be tight but we can do that." At 12:30 after seeing 3 other cars go into the shop, I asked for my keys and made sure they would not still attempt to bill my insurance. I wasted 30 minutes driving each way to get there and almost two hours at the shop. I will not be rescheduling with this shop or any other Safelite franchise. I should have read the review from Paul S from late May as I got the same "service" from this shop. It seems they treat walkups better than those who make appointments. read more

They were covid conscientious and brought keys out to me, plus wiped down car, wore masks when I called them and told them I was high risk. They really went above and beyond, as most people dont care. Communication was excellent as well for when car would be done. I could pay online. read more

I booked a windshield replacement, which was completed. My truck immediately demonstrated a massive amount of road noise, air was coming in through the windshield, and my wipers intermittent setting no longer worked. The cowling under the windshield was also not properly seated and appears damaged. Scheduled warranty service and no one arrives. I have to take the time to schedule it again. Tech #2 comes out, doesn't do much other than adjust the cowling. While leaving work that day water starts running down the inside of the windshield and dripping onto the steering wheel. Curiously, the road noise is better than it was it's still worse than before the repair. Scheduled repair #3, again a no show and no call. I'm frustrated beyond belief and would say to NOT use this company. I own my own business and understand the value of customer service, and this place doesn't seem to care. read more

I would avoid Safelite at all cost due to a shocking and frustrated experience with them recently. They came to repair a tiny chip rock on my windshield but somehow cracked it instead. They apologized but did NOT take responsibility to fix the damage at no charge and corp customer service offer no solution as well. This means I would have to pay for damage caused by Safelite work.
