5 years of BLS and ACLS renewals.... this time around, BLS refresher 1 hour skills demo with Rasheed, who is an Oakland Paramedic, former combat medic, and worked in NICU... this burn nurse happily learned some new tricks of the trade. I know it something that we all have to do and we try to get it over with as quickly as possible, but I like to learn new CPR skills from different perspectives. Only complaint.... post the schedule with teacher's names so that I can take ACLS with Rasheed next month. read more

A great place to take your CPR class. In the past, I've dreaded going to CPR classes because they're long, boring, and usually aren't taught in a manner that makes you retain the information. This was not my experience. The instructor was friendly and thorough, the facility was clean, time went by quickly, and I got my CPR card at the end of the class. I was able to walk there so I can't comment on parking, but my guess is that you might need to take that into consideration when leaving the house. read more

I have taken a lot of CPR classes in my 8 years as an RN. This class was organized and the course instructor was a Navy rescue diver. He was able to bring in his experience to make the course more interesting and to give great advice based on real-world scenarios. Great tips on first aid/CPR/AED! For example, use the pads on the lateral sides of the body if there are scars, etc. on the front side of the body. Even if you have already had training before, it's worth taking the class! It was $100 for the three combined and $20 for the student workbook. read more

I've been decertified 7-8 times and this was one of the better classes I have taken. The online portion was more interesting and informative than most in-person classes with the videos from the 80s. As a first-timer, I was actually a little nervous. I've been working as a back office medical assistant for the past 6-ish months, but BLS isn't required at my current place of employment. And let's be real, no one likes taking 3 hours out of their day for stuff like this, especially on a FRIDAY (yea, it was the only day I could fit it in my schedule). My instructor was Karl, and he was pretty awesome (and not just because he's a fellow UC Davis Aggie--GO AGS! lol). Karl made everything easy to understand/follow. He made the subject matter--which can be super dry--really light and dare I say... fun? *gasp* He has great energy. He also was available after class for students with questions. I also like that you have the option to purchase the AHA heartcode separately from the skills class- since my schedule is difficult, I was able to buy the online Heartcode prior to committing to which company/location/day I would do for my skils portion and appreciated the flexibility. read more

I look my ACLS renewal this past week & would highly recommend. The instructor was funny, interesting & informative. He even made the mega codes interesting and engaging by giving in depth patient stories for each scenario and kept everyone laughing through the class. ACLS renewal is never something I look forward to but I will definitely be coming back here in 2 years! Make sure to leave time to find parking - it is downtown Berkeley. our instructor's pretty cool... knows his stuff, and very patient. Place is easy to find, clean and we even get free coffee, tea and soda. It was a good BLS class with lots of hands-on exercises and instructor J.P. knows how to gauge which individual needs a little more attention or practice. It was a good size class so the 3-hr course went pretty fast. Aside from another trainee almost choking on the free granola bar, everything went pretty well! And, I got my card right after the class! I'd highly recommend this place! only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is I've no point for comparison. Maybe in 2 yrs?! oh just to add, it'll be a good idea to do some stretching beforehand or something... my arms are now sore! that's from all the compression ex we did! I think we did more than 20 sets! I appreciate the opportunity to learn how to do it properly and to really practice... but man! This is gonna hurt for a couple o' days! read more
