I live in Dallas, and because I refuse to shop at Walmart, and because Grocery Outlet often doesn't carry what our family shops for, the only other option in Dallas is Safeway. And what an awful option it is. I'm there almost daily (because I'm a guy and don't plan my shopping so well), and they are invariably out of numerous products in every department. Excessively so. Persisting supply chain or workforce issues you say? Not the case, because other grocery stores don't have this issue, at least not nearly to the extent the Dallas Safeway does. And that is so frustrating when one's options are so limited. In addition (acknowledging that the local staff have no control over this factor), their prices are outrageous. Does Safeway corporate recognize we have few options and intentionally price gouge? Does Safeway just suck in general? Who knows. Either way, their prices make it rather difficult for low-income families to afford what they sell, when it's actually in stock that is. I sincerely hope someone at Safeway corporate sees this review because I have some honest customer feedback. Because Safeway's CEO Steven A. Burd is being paid such an absurdly ridiculous amount of money for the bang-up job he and his executives are doing, perhaps he should take a pay cut from his annual $20 million per year and take an income that is more commensurate with the extremely poor shopping experience the store provides. It all starts at the top, and you know what is definitely rolling downhill. read more

So I have a love/hate relationship with the Dallas Safeway. I love that the store is always clean and the employees are always kind and helpful... but so hate that they have a monopoly on our little city! Dallas, OR I have lived in this location for almost nineteen years. Dave has been the pharmacist for as long as I can remember. I remember John, too, until he retired. Dave has always been helpful, knowledgeable, and patient with my husband and me. I have had to take a lot of medications, and it's not been easy keeping them organized. Dave has been a champion through this process, and my husband's open heart surgery recovery as well. He is a professional with a heavy workload. I have been to every one of the pharmacies in town, and not one compares to the quality and care I have received from Dave at Safeway. I hope he is recognized for this review in place of the negative ones he has received. I don't understand why anyone would feel this way. People can often be misunderstood. It's really to bad that a nice store has such HORRIBLE customer service. Just in the last couple months the checker or customer service person are rude and gives the customer a "lecture " when asked a question. An elderly friend has a flip phone and is unable to clip the deals. She asked if there is away a supervisor could giver her the sale price. You would have thought she asked both the checker and supervisor to cut off their right arm. McMinnville store was accommodating but every time Dallas store makes you feel bad for asking. We had strawberries that went bad in 2 days so we were going to the store anyway so I took them back, Dallas had a fit because they were originally purchased in McMinnville. We were told that we need to take them back to the original location. We live outside of both locations so we go to the one that we have other errands to do in that town. Give the sales price on all items and do always with this darn online clipping crap!!! There are other options (stores) like Winco and Grocery Outlet that we could save more money. read more

I'm thankful to have a grocery store in town that has everything. The staff is friendly and the store is always clean, rarely run out of items. The produces selection is always fantastic and if you use the app to clip coupons, buy gift cards whenever you're planning to dine out or shop online you can rack up a lot of gas rewards and we always save a bunch on our gas/diesel fill ups! Highly recommend getting all the points you can and it only takes a couple minutes of your time. read more

One of the worst grocery store experiences I've had in a while. The produce department had rotting produce lying out on nearly every table. Unfortunately, I only found out after putting my finger into a moldy liquidated tomato. Luckily for the next customer, there were plenty more moldy fruits and vegetables to share so everyone could have the experience of accidentally grabbing mushy goop. The meat department cases looked absolutely disgusting. The liners appeared to have not been changed in quite a while. The chicken display smelled terrible and had drippings all over it and most of the packages in it. The front end had very few cashiers, but that's fairly typical for a Safeway. After standing in line for ten minutes at one of the two open lines, the cashier said we'd have to move to another line because he was closing. I'm sorry, if you need to close, someone should come over and help us so you can leave, not force us to start standing in line all over again. I'm glad my disabled mother-in-law could wait in another line so that you could get to your break on time. We complained, but I'm sure nothing was ever said to the cashier. In Dallas their are basically 2 stores to shop at. Safeway and Walmart. Walmart is definitely a better price. Safeway is open later, theirs more food to decide on and you can get fuel. I split my time between both. I like them both for different reasons. At Safeway the employees are very helpful and friendly. I use the deli some. I like the Chinese food. David the "pharmacist" seems to think he has no management above him to correct his awful behavior. I was mistreated over a simple question over the status of my prescription. I was hung up on then my call back was ignored. I spoke to the general manager and even she was treated poorly by the pharmacist. Safeway can be so much better without him. read more

I go to safeway often and your app is horrible. My mother is old, she doesnt know how to use apps. Many old people dont have any idea how to use a smart phone so they cant get the digital deals. it feels like you are prejudice against old people and hate them. On Monday October 14th 2019 at about 5:15 p.m. I went to Safeway in Dallas Oregon. I went to the deli counter to get some corn dogs, JoJo's and some wings. JoJo's have been sitting for about a half-hour and there wasn't much left. They only had one corn dog. I asked the guy behind the counter if they were making anymore JoJo's he said "no". Asked if they're making anymore corn dogs he said it will be about 12 minutes. I asked if they're making any more wings he said "no, we shut the wing and soup bar down in an hour (6pm). Dinner hour is usually between 5pm and 7pm for most people who work. The deli counter doesn't even close till 8 p.m. How about making sure everything is stocked and ready for dinner hour? This is the third time I have gone to Safeway and this happens. Terrible!!! read more

The pharmacy overall is fine. Do you get your medications yes but "Dave" the pharmacist is the most rude, condescending person, talks so down to my partner everytime she goes in to pick up her medications. Worst customer service at the gas station. They are slow and rude. They don't pay attention to people who are waiting to be helped and they don't move fast when you're done feeling. The pharmacist here is the biggest dick I'd ever met.. Treated me like crap, then I watched a delivery driver doing drop offs and get treated worse then I had by the same pharmacist.. All things considered (middle of nowhere coming from Monmouth) this is a great location. From the stores deli/cooks themselves we tried the sushi, mac & cheese, chicken alfredo pasta, and enchiladas. Usually Dallas Safeway deli is pretty good. However, my husband bought some "antipasto salad" to go with our dinner. It included kalamata and green olives, pickled carrots and cauliflower, pepperoncini, and a couple other items. It was ridiculously salty! It tasted like they'd drained a bunch of pickled vegetables and then mixed it all with an entire box of salt! Since they're pickled vegetables, we expected salty but not this much. While appetizing in appearance, it was inedible. If we still had the receipt, we'd return it. Please ask for a taste before purchasing this "salad." read more

I really like this safeway because they have excellent stock of everything, reasonable vegan and organic options, good produce, the store is kept clean, they have a huge parking lot, and the employees are friendly. It's an older store that is a bit on the dark side without many skylights, probably in need of a renovation. But I don't go there for the overall atmosphere, I just need to grab some food! So for me, this is a 5 star place. They also have a coffeeshop inside and free wifi, so it's not a bad place to get some work done, except I don't think they have many electrical outlets. read more

Been shopping here for many years, spent many thousands of dollars and had good and bad experiences at Dallas Safeway. Here is the breakdown: Produce great! Bakery awesome!! Deli okay. Meat department pretty good. Just4u savings keeps you coming back. Aisles are over crowded with extra stuff that makes it hard to navigate with a cart. Parking is good. Easy in and out of parking lot. Gas is usually the cheapest in Dallas though it is rumored and seems likely that they have had more than their share of bad gasoline! The staff here can be very moody with some checkers consistently nice and others rather bitchy. I have been followed around in the store and treated like a shop lifter after spending tens of thousand dollars there and never stealing anything, though this can happen at any store, Safeway has some punks w/attitude working there. The self checkout is horrible with constant failure and the "Unexpected item in area" or "Please wait for help" message almost guaranteed to extend your checkout hassle! Many very old people shop here and they refuse to use self checkout even though they may only have one or two items. You hear "3's a crowd" over the PA every time you shop which indicates under staffed or poor management. They sure don't have baggers anymore so you have to either sit there like a lump while the checker bags and places all your items in the cart or you have to assist as well as trying to watch the prices and pay. To conclude: best selection in Dallas. Better selection and quality groceries, more expensive than Walmart or Grocery Outlet, so if you don't want to go to Independence or Salem, you're welcome! read more

Fast and easy shopping experience! Products are easy to find and employees are very knowledgeable when it comes to where products are. Almost always a one stop trip for groceries unless I need something extra special. The only issue is the prices since the Walmart in town doesn't carry as much groceries, Safeway has full authority to raise prices at will I've noticed, but I've came away with great deals before and most products are at reasonable prices. read more

I have a horrible cold and currently breastfeeding, so I was advised to contact my pharmacist for recommendations on over-the-counter medications I can safely take. The answer I received from the pharmacist was that I should not take anything. I told him that I'm in pain and my symptoms are preventing me from sleeping. He replied that he refuses to recommend anything. He then hung up on me. How very helpful. I had a list of medications I could safely take while pregnant, so I know there are options. Dallas Oregon Safeway is grossly mismanaged, they sell out-dated foods (and near expired), they place is filthy, and shopping baskets are cleaned only 3 times a year (according to employee). Well, why not? After all the store has no local competition. We will no longer ship there. We will save more $$ and get better quality groceries by going into Salem and shopping at WinCo. As for Safeway gasoline: Salem has many stations, such as ARCO...which is always less than Safeway even with Saleway's "rip-off" limited gas points system. Dallas needs another big grocery store - then Safeway would have to clean up its act or close its doors. read more
