Burning sage
Kendra R.

The entry way flooded with dauntless homeless, security ubiquitously patrolling the parking lot, this "Safe"way is a bit misnomer. Sure, these urban dwellers might felch a bag of groceries and cause a pandemonium of cops to the scene, but it's not 100% bad. One noteable perquisite is they sell some prime poultry seasoning mix with fresh sage - perfect for when I dicker with the spirits and ward them out of my studio apartment. Admittedly, I made the purchase to season my pork chops, but in a snap, I could also ward off the poltergeists, too!

Insane lines. Only one other checkout line open

Worst grocery store in the metro area. Never enough staff. Has gone steady downhill after improving for a few years

Great selection, affordable prices. Could have been a little cheaper on the boxed wine though.

We came here for brunch on a Sunday morning, before heading to Coors Field to see an afternoon Rockies game. The market mainly consists of an indoor food court, with indoor and outdoor seating options. The crowd is mostly local. The vibe is casual. For our first visit, we were impressed with the food we got from Izzio Bakery, and the coffee we got from Crema Bodega. I have reviewed these separately.

There are a bunch of different places to check out inside, so everyone can grab exactly what they want and still sit together. Today, I specifically visited Call Your Mother, a Jewish deli, and Izzio Bakery. Atmosphere: Since I went right around the time they opened, the atmosphere was exactly what I needed. It was super laid-back and chill, making it the perfect place to get out of the house for a calm morning. As it gets later into the day and through the weekends, I know it gets very busy, but there is plenty of random seating throughout the hall and even some outdoor spots if you prefer. Parking: Parking is going to be street parking. Make sure you read the signs, but it is usually free. Even when the market is busy, I usually don't have to walk more than a block to get inside. So it is a very convenient location for the RiNo area. Service: The customer service throughout the market is great. At Call Your Mother, the cashier was very sweet, and they even text you when your food is ready. Over at Izzio Bakery, everyone is super kind and helpful while you're looking at their amazing pastry display. Even with a line, you're usually only waiting about 10 to 12 minutes for your items. Food: The food variety here is incredible. I tried the Sun City breakfast bagel sandwich from Call Your Mother and the hot honey was the perfect balance of sweet and spice on a toasted bagel. For a sweet treat, I went to Izzio Bakery for the Dulce de Leche Queen. The pastry case there looks like something out of a movie. The pastry itself was perfectly crisp on the outside with a delicious yellow vanilla cream and cinnamon on the inside. Overall Experience: Overall, I really enjoy coming here and trying new places. It is a fantastic destination for groups or just a solo morning out. Whether you want a savory breakfast bagel sandwich or a beautiful pastry, The Denver Central Market always hits the spot. I'll definitely be back to explore more.

When I finally got up to my assigned cashier and sat my items down, my cashier snapped at me that she couldn't reach them so I slid them closer and she snapped again saying she still couldn't. Started telling me she has to stand there for eight hours and how bad her back was. There were a lot of people in line when the cashier stopped helping her customer and stood screaming at everyone that the line starts here and made everyone move over closer to her. As she was screaming people laughed at her several people left. about 3 people ahead of me a women put her 2 item on the counter and the cashier again screamed at her that she couldn't reach them. The customer moved her items closer she screamed at again that she couldn't reach them. Again she moved her water and cheese stick closer to her again, literally with 6-8 inches away from the cashier and handed her money. The cashier tossed her money back at her and said "I have a bad back, I work 8 hours a day I don't have to put up with your shit" This is where the rest of the people that were in line walked out. I am still laughing at the cashier.

I always find this location of NG clean. The employees are courteous and friendly. The parking has never been an issue as the lot has ample room for cars. With that said, it's a bit surprising to see the 3.5 star rating as of mid August of 2024. Today I found a delicious and delightful sparkling water. Zero calories, no added sugar but is so refreshing and flavorful. The 12oz cans were $1.98 (each). Not bad. I mostly get produce when I go to NG just like any other day, They always have the freshest veggies and fruits. The quality is something I can always count on. I also get water (refill.) Per gallon price for members (doesn't cost to become one) is $0.29 which is the lowest out of all the other grocery chains. Thanks for being around to provide us with our daily necessities.
