The first time I used Safeway's pick up and go my pick up time was at 5:00. I waited for almost 2 hours for my groceries out in the parking lot before I decided I needed to go home. They told me they would call me when it was ready but when it got close to 9 o'clock I decided to call them. Finally at 9:30 at night my groceries were ready for me to pick up. I was so upset over this I decided not to use them again. Today I wanted to give them a second chance because I wasn't feeling good. I can place my order online and they gave me a pick up time of 2 o'clock. I sent my son there at two to pick up the groceries. They told him half an hour. He waited in the car for half an hour and then called again. They told him it would be another half an hour. He's already gone through this game before the first time with me so he knew it could be an all day experience. I didn't want to spend the day doing this so I called and canceled my order. From now on I will be using Nob Hill's pick up and go. The groceries are a little more expensive but at least they do what they say they're going to do. read more

A very nice Safeway, with a gas station. Safeway does this thing, when they have a gas station, they discount your gas based on how much you spend in the store. This is extra nice when the store is as nice as this one is. With gas prices on the rise it is worth doing your grocery shopping here just for the discount at the pump. All in all I recommend this place for goods and gas. read more

Awesome gas prices! I LOVE that they have kid carts with tvs in them this makes shopping so much easier....how did my mom ever shop with me as a child? Prices are normal Safeway prices..use your club card and before you go load your coupons on your card by using U save on their website. At check out, check your re kept to make sure you got all the deals/savings. Custom service is always nice and friendly. This store often has expired dairy on the shelf....yogurt and milk, so check dates. I have come home with expired milk and yogurt that expired that day. last time I was shopping the milk had expired 5 days ago! Delivery is always late and incorrect. I recently tried three online delivery orders through Safeway. All three were late and had missing items or items I did not order. I tried to contact the delivery person, but they can't solve problems They just put bags on the porch. Sorry Safeway, but much improvement is needed in this area before I will return as a customer. read more

Just moved to the area and this has become my go to store for groceries and gas. Make sure you have the club card or the stores app to get the discounts and rewards toward gas. The gas is cheap compared to other places in Hollister and if you have rewards you get a discount on the price which is really good. read more

I've been shopping there sense they opened, I agree, sometimes they can be backed up or slow to wait on someone. I get that, what I dont get is why this person, called out the white people. I'm thinking she used this platform just to join the hate everybody but blacks group. This is so typical these days, people are starting to notice the color of your skin, how sad. Then, everyone wants to know why we cant get over this damn hate, from both sides I might add. There are very good people on both sides that dont align with any color of people. We started shopping here last year when we moved. I love Safeway and others in town do too. It gets packed in there. I recommend to go grocery shopping during the day or on a Monday night. Anyway, the people who work there are great! Super friendly and are glad to help. They have many check out stands open, unlike the other grocery store in town that rarely use "three'a a crowd. " Anyway, the produce is okay. That's why they're only getting four stars. Sometimes I find rotted strawberries out and one too many mushy avocados. They need to be on that a little more. read more

Gas station not cheap and charges for credit cards use. Groceries are higher priced than Walmart and about same quality.

On several occasions I have accidentally come home with something expired from this store. Not a day or two expired, but MONTHS expired. I recently purchased Red Diamond iced tea and made sure to check the expiration date. 5 out of 7 bottles had expired in APRIL! We are in mid June people! After drinking nearly the whole bottle, we found mold in the iced tea and a lot of it. Multiple failed attempts to contact the store, because when you select to speak top customer service someone picks up the phone and hangs up. I've brought the expired items to employees attention before, yet they still seem to be on the shelves. At this point I'm contacting their corporate office. read more

One complaint, why can't you keep egg whites stocked? The store is clean and I like the layout, but there are some items like egg whites that they are consistently out of so much so that I don't even bother going to Safeway when I am out but instead go to Nob Hill. If you want to save money - SaveMart, if you want good produce - NobHill, if you want to wait 20 minutes to check out - SAFEWAY!!!! Seriously - I used to stop on the way home during the week, but it is regularly taking 20 minutes to get through the two and if you are lucky 3 lines that are open. As a result the self checkout line have people with full carts trying to check themselves out. On-going problem that management has failed to address. On a positive - the gas discounts and price are good. read more

We visited this Safeway location recently after having dinner at a place in Tres Pinos. We were in need of a birthday cake (completely forgot my cousins birthday) so we needed to have something pretty and quick. The bakery decorator was gone for the day, but we lucked out because the staff member that helped us wrote on the cake for us and did a very nice job considering it was her first time. We were grateful and the cake was moist and not too sweet which was perfect. Thank you for taking care of our emergency. read more

I ordered a cake for my son's birthday and baptism and they let me know that they didn't have neither the Batman toy or the silver cross for the cake and I was okay with it as long as they can draw something similar to it and they gave me the thumbs up. The day I went to pick both cakes up not only the young man (didn't get his name) was very rude telling me "what do you need?" and making me wait 15 minutes to pick up the cake, I got the most plain looking cakes with just a "happy birthday" and "my baptism" written with no designs that i asked for... I really want to like this store...it has a lot going for it. It's newer/clean and although the checkout lines and be long they move quickly. My big gripe its that they constantly run out of items here. It is almost like they do not know how to properly stock a grocery store.
