I don't know why anyone has problems here; they have a great deli/bakery and vast supply of goods esp meat dept....the people are always friendly and helpful(I'm 72) a lot of the customers are rude ass-wipes but the people working here are fantastic and they keep things moving along esp as busy as this place is...love the chicken, kung pao, shish ka bobs, bacon, and the produce is fresher than Fred Meyer....although I go there for my pharmacy/pop specials/backdoor pickup/and gas discount....Winco is great also but not like the Winco's in Salem....w/all the different departments....Another thing, the people in the balloon/flower dept are the best and quality is #1. It was a dark and windy night, ahead in the distance a red beacon of hope....the Safeway sign. Customer service ladies were friendly and quick in helping me with my bus pass purchase and every grocery item on my list was acquired, with the help of knowledgeable employees who knew exactly what aisle to shoo me off to. My one grievance was the cashier who, while very friendly, spent more time talking to people while the line grew. I'm all for good convo but the line grew to a point she could have read the room and wrapped it up a bit quicker. I'll be back when the milk runs low. read more

First of all most of the employees are nice and helpful people that work really hard. But there is one employee at customer service named Rick that makes my skin crawl. He is always rude and acts as if he owns Safeway. He doesn't provide customer service but acts as if you're bothering him. In the last year we have tried to come when he's not there. He refused to help us with our Safeway cards for discounts and said they don't have them anymore( which was a lie), also I noticed he's been rude to women and minorities but not to white men. Well...I finally had enough. After yet another debacle over promotional pricing, I promptly broke my Safeway card in half and left it on the Manager's desk. Shortly after the most recent ad hit the streets, I tried to buy said item and was told that it was sold out! When I asked for a "raincheck"...the clerk (meat dept) told me that it would likely be next year around the 2025 Holidays beforee they would be back in stock. Mind you...the item was not some obscure once-in-a-lifetime special item. It was a beef roast!!! There was no offer of a substitute item at a similar discount (by either the clerk or the "manager" I later spoke to). I should mention at this point that my relationship with this company as my "go to" grocer goes back over 4 decades in a variety of states. Even at smallish margins found in grocery stores, that has to amount to a sizeable amount of business. My struggle with Safeway (and, sister companies) began some years ago when their promotional structure underwent significant changes. I won't waste my time detailing them here...but suffice to say they were, and are, very VERY difficult to understand. This sentiment is shared by the vast majority of consumers I have spoken to about this. The only way I was able to be sure that an advertised sale price was honored was to divide my order into "sale" items and non-sale items...literally causing me to create two transactions for one order. Now, I'm not the sharpest tool in the toolshed!! I can and do make mistakes. However, I always strive to correct them. Not our friends at Safeway. I am sorry that this situation had to come about. However, there are plenty of forthright grocers who understand the value of their customers. I would urge Safeway management to go for a shopping trip to SEARS or JC PENNEY and countless other recent retail "deaths" to get a lesson in customer service. I was in the deli department early in the morning about 9:30. On March 10th of 2025. There was two young ladies talking when I was standing waiting to be helped. I asked the one in the front if I could be helped at the deli and she said that the person across this other side is the person that's going to help me. I explained to her that that was her job to let that person know I needed help. I then proceeded over to the other lady whose name tag was under her apron. Asked her for some help she said just a moment cuz she was working on roast beef slicing I said that's great I'll wait. She's been came over and asked me what I wanted and I told her 4 piece dark. When the lady that I had asked originally came talking to her about her job and what they were needing to do. I asked I said did you possibly wait until after she helps me. She said well we're discussing on things that needed to be done. I said I understand but I'm a customer and I had asked her just like she had told me to to help me. And she argued with me about things that were a priority. I said I am your customer and I'm the one that's paying your wages. She folks said no you're not actually. I said yeah I am. I asked her what her name was she said she didn't have to give it to me. So I let it go and I asked the lady that was helping me how I would go about getting her first name. She told me that we don't have to give you our first name. And I left it be I continue on to the front to purchase my stuff I have to speak to someone in charge above and deli and I spoke with Nicole. Prices are insulting. They seem to have finally stabilized, but rest at a bank-breaking, offensive level. Around the beginning of June 2022, there was a major shake-up of personnel. This happened before about 4 years ago. They hire on all new inexperienced workers. Also if you clip "Just for you" coupons and spend time pouring over the weekly ad, you need to review your receipt before leaving. There is inevitably an over charge. Many times multiple overcharges. So as long as you don't mind not being able to trust your grocer this store is; Clean, Organized, has great variety of quality product and unless you spend time coupon "clicking, clipping" and bargain hunting, is expensive. Since I possess more time than money I shop here and bring my overcharges to the customer service desk where they always reimburse me. read more

This Safeway has great people and great goods; prices are often higher than Waremart but the quality is good and the individual attention is better esp in the deli, bakery, meat dept, and flowers & produce....have I covered everything. This is our go-to store but the customer service could be better. We went yesterday for a few items and the checker said to "make it easy for him" only put one of each kind of our vitamin waters on the belt, and then acted annoyed when we wanted them bagged. I have an arm brace on and no, we don't want to carry in 12 vitamin waters loose and not in a bag to into our house. My boyfriend ended up bagging the vitamin waters. Also I have an avocado allergy & if I want sushi, asking for it without avocado almost always seems like I'm bothering the sushi maker. I want to love this store since we spend money here every week but sometimes the customer service could be better. read more

Ok, I know it's just the Safeway deli, but you still expect the food to be edible. I've purchased Safeway Chinese entrees many times in locations in Salem, OR and found it satisfactory. Today, I was up the road in Keizer and stopped in to the Safeway on River Road to pick up an easy dinner. I had asked for chow mein and steamed rice but when I got home, I had two sides of fried rice. Both entrees (General Two's chicken and Kung Pao chicken) were so hot they burned our tongues. With noses running and eyes watering, we rushed to throw them both away. That left us with egg rolls for dinner. Surprise! So salty we couldn't eat those either. Yuck. We are very lucky to have a choice a variety of grocery stores to shop. Different stores have different qualities. With that said, I purchased a product on the "marked down" shelf's. It was an anti-flea and tic product. It had a very old Albertsons sticker on it as well as a 50% off Safeway sticker. Originally $50. I paid $25. when I returned home I realized it was for a much larger dog than mine. when I trie to return it I was refused as I couldn't find my reicept.. with that being said, I'm grateful that Safeway isn't the only act in town. I like this store, this is my home store. But this review is for management to take notice and fix a cashier issue. Her name is Sierra, she was my cashier last week and she is NOT the person you want talking to customers. None of the extra stuff I have come to expect like a courtesy check to make sure the eggs aren't broken, nope she didn't even glance or care. She had a bad habit of not bagging anything. I get it that she didn't have a bagger but wine? No bag, just set it out for me to carry by hand. Coffee? Nope, that isn't worthy of a bag either even though I had 4 cans of coffee. When I asked for a bag (you know because I still have to carry $300 in groceries into the house) she put two bottles of wine in one single plastic bag. One was a 1.75 liter, no separation to keep the glass from clinking against each other, no way that single ply plastic bag is strong enough to carry multiple bottles without splitting so I asked her to double bag it. SCOFF!! She acted like I was asking her to marry a hobbit, and the eye daggers I got for daring to ask her to do her job was actually painful. Just wasn't impressed one bit, I named her intentionally because she was that bad of a representative that I actually am considering driving PAST safeway to get my groceries at Winco even though it would mean I have to go out of my way. At least they are nice there and I will get my $300 in groceries home safe without ruining them... Please make her go away, or at least hide her in the back where she won't be seen by customers. read more

I went to Safeway on a Monday to get some dinner from the Deli, I ordered 2 pizza sticks and a corn dog. Both of the pizza sticks were hard as rocks and were completely burnt on the inside. The corn dog was also burnt on one side. I get it's cheap for the sides, but that was completely unacceptable. I will never come here for hot food again. Maybe hire some people who won't burn everything. read more

I've been to a lot of safeways, and have always thought i could count on some consistency from safeway. but this one is by far the worst. The self checkout person seems to alway be roaming around the store, and when i need my ID checked they are no where to be found. Ive asked were things are and employees cant seem point me in the right direction or walk me to the correct spot, And there deli employees are even worse! Ive had two bad experiences at the deli there, the last time I tried to get a 8 piece dark meat and the lady said it would be 20 min because the got bought out. Her fellow employee said no, actually we aren't making anymore. And didn't offer a customer friendly solution. My boss would have lit me up when i was doing customer service if i would have pulled this crap. Average Safeway. This is the Safeway I have grown up going to. It's kind of funny that when you live in the same town your whole life, you know exactly where everything is at in the Safeway down the street. You basically grew up in the store. When someone new moves to town you can tell because they don't know which aisle the bread is in (the back right of the store). Nothing very spectacular, but it will do. Food is always stocked, and never a can out of place. I like that in a grocery store. The staff seems to know what they are doing and do it right. They always greet you with a hello as you walk up to checkout. They offer to bag your groceries for you, and sometimes if you have a lot they will offer to help take it to your car. Overall it's fine. Nothing that makes you say, "wow this is a great Safeway" but also nothing that makes you say, "wow this is a horrible Safeway, I am never coming back here again." Growing up in high school I would always stop to get lunch here. They use to have a lunch special at the deli. read more

There are many things I love about Safeway in Keizer. I used to think it was one of the most pandemic safe stores around. A couple of weeks ago a young man entered the store from the parking lot to return carts and had pulled his mask down to his neck. Today, as I was checking out I observed that your checker had her mask below her nose. Whether people get that a mask below their nose is the same as no mask, or they just don't care I hope you give your staff some CDC training on mask wearing and enforce it. read more

The pharmacy is horrendous. The staff are nice enough but generally incapable of helping or providing more than very minimum of service. Forgetting to bill insurance companies, and not filling prescriptions are common problems. The store's prices are mediocre with no corresponding increase in quality. Unfortunately with Roth's and Albertsons out of business the only nearby alternative is Fred Meyer, which is not much better. Winco, which is much better, is a fifteen minute drive, but worth it. read more

After being told by locals that Safeway was less expensive, I gave the store a try. The positives of the store are that the produce area looks attractive and the gentleman in the deli was friendly and helpful. The negatives are that it's difficult to find items you're looking for, and there seems to be no one available to help. The store is very crowded with long lines. After changing manufacturers on one of my prescriptions and finding the same medication from the new did not work as well, Olena was quick to address my issue and satisfy my needs by getting me a new prescription with the proper medication. It is this kind of customer service that will give this pharmacy a better reputation than it has been getting. I understand it's Safeway deli, but you think you would be able to cook potstickers! Deep fried for about 3 minutes! Right? Nope! Maybe a minute and a half and obviously they weren't done! I generally don't eat the garbage that sits all day so the sorry saps that buy it for dinner get dry hard noodles and crusty veg after a hard days work! I just wanted pot stickers. Well it was as I suspected, it's all garbage. I don't know who does quality control but they should be let go! I've given them more chances than I care to admit and they have never been able to bring me to even say, "not bad". It's always been over/under cooked, sitting all day or just looking at it, I loose my appetite. Maybe don't cook 20 pounds of sweet and sour chicken at 10am and expect it to be good at 6pm. Logically!! Never again will I get food from this deli! It's overpriced slop at best! Get it together Safeway! I know it can be done better, I've had it at other stores! I recently moved to Keizer from Corvallis and I am not impressed with this Safeway. I have seen employees be mistreated by supervisors and also sexually harass a customer in yoga pants, one of which was a supervisor. The fruit wasn't rotated properly so there were rotting apples and had to dig around for decent ones. Every time I go in I wait in very long lines. I shouldn't have to wait in line for fifteen minutes when there are plenty of people standing around in front of the customer service area. All around it's a hassle going in there. I would rather shop at Fred Meyer. read more

This is a pretty nice Safeway. The prices are better than Albertsons/haggen, but not always cheap. There's a Starbucks in it, and I like that there are cup holders in the carts. The service is always pretty good, and the cashiers are friendly. The one issue is there are usually very long lines and not very many registers open. read more

I am thoroughly upset with how I have been treated at this Safeway. I went to cash a check and they approved it and wrote all over the check with their requirements. They then could not cash the check because it was dated for the next day. I came back the next day to cash it and they refused to cash it and I am not sure why. They said I'm sorry we just can not cash it. They scribbled all over it which made it impossible to cash anywhere else. I had to deposit in my bank and wait until or cleared to get the funds(2 days). I always have to call and ask them to please look at your fax machine. A customer should not have to parent the pharmacy staff. My meds are never ready. I used the floral department today to get a bouquet of balloons for a coworker. The person who assisted me was fabulous. She was thoughtful and polite and meticulous with the balloon creation.
