Had a very mediocre experience. Called ahead a few days before to see if they had a nebulizer in stock. They did and they said they accepted my insurance. Came into the store a days later. I told the clerk what I was there for and she pointed me to the item. She then asked if I had insurance and with who and I gave her the name and she said they worked with them. I grab the item and then she says something to the effect that I can't just take it... there's a process, and that she had to contact my insurance to see about my coverage. There was nothing in her tone that was kind or friendly, or service-minded(she didn't say how long, when I could get the item...nothing). I explained that I had called a few days before and had I known that this was such a process, I would have taken action sooner. I then said, I will just pay for it out of pocket and be reimbursed. As she's ringing me up she says " well I mean it could take 30-40 minutes". At that point, I was just frustrated because I kept getting bit of pieces of information at a time. I started to wonder if this was a bait and switch type of situation where they tell you they take insurance but then make the process sound so complicated you just pay for the item and handle the reimbursement on your own?I'm not sure, all I know is that on that day with that clerk I didn't have the best experience. Even as I paid there were issues with her not reading my card correctly and attempting to reject my payment even though she made a clerical error ( twice I might add with no apology). So, I'm glad with the people who recently wrote reviews had a great experience - I did not. On the upside and the reason for three stars versus two. The place is easy to get to, there's parking out front, and the establishment itself is clean and orderly. UPDATE - the owner or manager of this establishment did attempt to reach me. Don't bother unless you are willing to pay for upgraded models and don't want to use insurance. They clearly don't want to work with insurance. Needed a walker with wheels. Gave them all the info, had the doctor send script directly to them, a few times before they actually said they had it. Then they said they needed Insurance approval so after more waiting they tell you they don't have any of the less expensive walkers that insurance will cover but will be happy to sell you the more expensive walkers and you can submit it to insurance to see if they will cover it. if you want the one insurance covers you need to wait and it could be a long wait until they get more... it's like dealing with a bad used car dealer that plays bait and switch - don't waste your time find a reputable business. read more

Let's do this! So I'm going going to speak facts here because this company likes to come back and insult their customers. Read the negative reviews you'll see there is factual information that everybody reports. I did my research with my insurance company before I purchased the scooter. When I walked in, Daniel I believe his name is, introduced himself, and was very friendly and willing to help. I purchased the scooter off the floor and he offered to submit the documents to our insurance company. I waited three months and followed up many times. He refused to take my calls. The lady sitting in the desk next to him continued to tell me he wasn't in the office. And if I wanted to speak with him, I would need to go up there in person. Fine you want me in person you got me. I proceeded to call the office as I sat in front of the store, seeing him sitting next to her as she stated, yet again, he's not there. I walked in, and he greeted me not knowing who I was, I ask him about a scooter. I pulled out my receipt and said I'd like to talk about the scooter I already purchased from you. I asked him why he chose to ignore the calls from my insurance company and me. He didn't answer that question. So I called my insurance company in front of him. He tried to leave the desk and I asked him if he was trying to run away again. He said he would be right back. He didn't come back. Not surprised. So we handled the information with the girl who normally answers the phone. It gets better come to find out. They submitted the receipt for my scooter for a lesser amount, stating that it had upgrades, which was not true. Then stated we can't submit it for the amount you paid because your husband isn't large enough for the scooter so your insurance won't accept it. That wasn't true. Again I did my research I know what my insurance will pay. Long story short, they submitted wrong amount and requested for the payment. Not only did they receive my payment for the full amount but then they received my refund. Yes, they took my money and my insurance refund check! I would call that insurance fraud! At the end of the day, and almost 6 months later, I finally received my full amount refund from my insurance company. Yes, the full amount. Now they can respond and come at me sideways. Because that's the type of "professional" business they run, but everything I put here is 100% correct. read more

My doctor sent an order over for a mobility scooter. I've been dealing with them for over a month trying to get the insurance auth through. Doctor sends them info they claim they don't get it, but doctor has confirmation it was sent. My insurance changes in less than 60 days, and Safeway could care less and won't do anything to help me! read more

Very dissatisfied with the service we've received when we purchased a power chair for my 80 year old disabled mom . the chair was delivered in January and it has never worked. unfortunately I was working and wasn't there to receive the chair, the chair was left with my mom who also has dementia and her caregiver who only speaks Spanish. I called that week and months thereafter to say the chair is not working. and was given instructions as if I didn't know how to operate. I i was told someone would come out to show how to operate but that never happened. finally in April technician came out and sure enough the technician couldn't determine the issue. now waiting on the manufacturers response. it's now May and still my mom who is paying monthly for the chair, does not have a working chair.i have called several times to stop payment and my requests go unresponsive. paying since January for something that has never worked. If I could give no stars would be the best idea and the best thing for everyone. If you need medical supply this isn't the place. They will defraud you out of your money, my mother had gotten a air mattress from here because of bed sores. The mattress did not work it took over half the day to inflate it wasn't the right size for her hospital bed. When they came to get it no receipt and have not refunded the money but still accept payments from the insurance company. I have called, called I have called so many times and kept being told that the person I needed to speak with is never there are just walked out. I was trying to find a motorized scooter for my handicapped sister when I had to call a few companies to see if they had scooters. I called First American Medical and the agent that answered was extremely rude and disrespectful. I kept calling other companies and found Safeway Medical Supply. Shawna answered the call. She was polite, kind, friendly and very professional. She spoke to me like she cared about my sister's needs and listened attentively to my questions. Not only did she help us quickly get the paperwork going, but she even called us the next day to follow up on the process. I wish all employees would be half as gracious and professional as Shawna! I found this company to have the worst place to do business with in my 60 years of life. They hung up on me several times. They refuse to honor their warranty. They have no problem with telling lies. They stated they were in my insurance network and my insurance company repeatedly said no they are not. They stated they were working with my insurance company and never called them. They said my insurance company were crooks. They charged me 4 times what Medicare said they should. I am paralyzed from waste down and they took advantage of me due to my disability. read more

Recently I had to have hip replacement surgery....went in to see about a trapeze to help facilitate getting in and out of bed. Theresa, on the phone, and Shauna in person were both so very helpful with suggestions and different things to consider. I ended up with a lift chair that was delivered and picked up as planned. There were complications during surgery and they were so very helpful as I tried to determine what to do for a non scheduled obstacle....Foot Drop. I get that they like to help out with things going on in the community and the COH, but if you cannot have enough employees to keep your doors open during posted business hours, you're not making money. I am not impressed. It has taken me almost 7 months to get a Rollator. I asked and repeatedly mentioned I was a big guy and needed a larger Rollator. My Dr. even wrote BARIATRIC across the prescription that I emailed them. After 6 months and repeatedly being told I was getting the Cadillac of Rollator, it was delivered. That night, I tried it out. It must be a compact cadillac. I received the smallest one possible. I cannot sit on it and I am at the weight limit for the weight capacity. Now they will not return my calls to return or refund. I had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with this company. My insurance sent us to them for a walker for a 95 year old man. We received insurance approval the day he was at the doctor. Two weeks later "Monica" kept saying she did not have insurance approval. Today I called and she said that we were not going to get the walker without paying full price because she had not gotten insurance approval. I told her it was approved to weeks ago and asked her what she had done to get a copy of the approval. Her exact words were "I don't have to tell you s..t". I asked for a supervisor and she said she was it. I asked who she reported to and she said "Monica". I asked who the owner of the company was and she said "Monica." She then got more nasty and said things I cannot write here. My doctor is now sending us to another provider and I have submitted a complaint to my insurance company. in December I went there to get a breast pomp which my insurance was supposed to pay it. We did not receive the product since then. I thought insurance did not pay so they did not send it. That was fine until today which is February 1st. They said they sent the product and insurance did not pay and I have to pay but we did not receive anything. My mother has been very ill and unable to get in and out of bed without assistance. Sadly, on several occasions, she wet her bed, because she could not get up on her own. Since we were unable to give her 24/7 care, our family decided that the best option would be an electronic hospital bed. The insurance company gave us a list of equipment suppliers and I called Safeway. I was pleasantly greeted by Lubna (spelling?) and Vern, who clearly explained my options and associated costs. They immediately faxed the request to my mother's doctor to get the ball rolling. Once her doctor finally faxed back the form, Theresa helped expedite the insurance approval and coordinated the delivery of the bed the very next day! Anytime I called into Safeway, whether I spoke to Lubna, Vern, Maureen, Ed, or Theresa, I was absolutely blown away by the kindness that I was treated with. While I was overwhelmed with my mother's deteriorating health, they took on the burden of diligently managing the paperwork. They treated my mother's needs with urgency and personal care. I felt like she was a top priority. You just don't find this kind of extraordinary service at most retail stores these days. I am beyond grateful that I had the blessing of working with the incredible folks at Safeway. They were instrumental in providing the relief and assistance that my mother so desperately needed.
