Like the previous review, I also had a mortifying experience at Rite Aid…read more 7.24.24 1:15 PM I had a Paxlovid script (Covid anti-viral) called in by my doctor who told me I didn't need to isolate, but wear a mask. I, masked in N95 - no cough, went to pick up the script and the woman behind the desk asked my info, saw what I was there for and freaked out on me: "YOU SHOULDN'T BE HERE! IF I GET COVID, I COULD DIE!" I responded with "WELL I HAD CANCER!" She wouldn't help me so I went to the front desk to pay for my items. I asked for a manager, and none were there. A customer who witnessed this unprofessional behavior followed me to the front and said she was so sorry that happened to me and saw how poorly I was treated. The employee told me "they didn't have that (Paxlovid) here." I then checked the website and it says Rite Aid carries it. I call the pharmacy and wait 36 minutes on hold to talk to a Pharmacist, who was very nice. Turns out Rite Aid's supplier hasn't sent them Paxlovid so she said I can have another pharmacy transfer the script. Helpful! I called Safeway and they picked up the phone immediately. Have Paxlovid in stock, no problem. They fax over a request at 2:45pm. My husband went to pick up after 5 pm and Rite Aid, hadn't yet sent over the script. Called again, no wait time, and took care of it. Safeway, Freddy's, and Walmart all have the drug in stock and won't treat you like a leper. I posted online in the Newport FB group about this horrible experience and this employee has a long history of treating people poorly and has been reported multiple times. Why is she still employed? Why is someone who can die of Covid working behind the desk AT A PHARMACY?I Also, a suggestion: if you don't want sick people coming into a store that's called a PHARMACY, put a big sign out front directing customers to drive-thru! Tell them you don't carry the drug. Have masks available and hand sanitizer at the door! Also, call people who have the drug called in and tell them you don't have it and then they don't come for it. Problems all solved and no customer will be treated with disrespect - against Rite Aid's Code of Ethics and poor business!

I hadn't been to Rice's in years. I don't know why. Part of it probably was convenience. It's…read morenot on my normal route. It's a special trip. I usually commute by bike, so that's a bigger deal, especially since it takes some cycling on less than ideal streets to get there. I recently needed some wound management supplies. On the way home, my friend stopped by Bi-Mart first. I am a big fan. They didn't have what we needed. We went by Rite-Aid knowing they are usually the most expensive. They apparently carried one of the items we needed, but they were out of stock. We did take note of the price. I waited in line to ask the pharmacist in case they had some other things in back that weren't on the shelf. They told me to go talk to the other part of the store as they just dispense medication. Another line, and I got a cold, "Nope; if it's not on the shelf we ain't got it." We were going to head out to the other Bi-Mart and Safeway next, but decided to stop at Rice's on the way. I am glad we did. My friend didn't want to stop there, but my friend's mind has now been changed. Not only did they have all the items we needed, the prices were much more affordable. Did I mention the staff is very friendly? No. I guess I didn't. Well, they are. Helpful and friendly. Even though it's out of the way, I think I'm going to tell my doctors to change all my prescriptions to Rices. If that helps keep them in business, it's a no-brainer. Small independent shop that cares about the community, unlike Rite-Aid which is a huge corporation - allegedly number 148 in the Fortune 500. Far more personable. It reminds me of growing up in the '70s. One of our neighbors was a pharmacist at an independent drug store nearby. We always used that pharmacy for the same reasons I'll always use Rice's now.

The pharmacy's inconsistent policies and procedures have impeded my ability to manage refills effectively, with conflicting information from various pharmacists causing delayed refills. Unprofessional behavior, such as rudeness and dismissiveness, has further complicated the issue. Numerous times I have called in to make sure it's ordered and have received confirmation it will be available at a specific day and time, only to go in and be told it's not ready yet and I need to wait an hour before it's ready. The typical response is how over-worked and short handed they are and how it's not their fault. To take it a step further, I'm regularly told that not only must I call in to make sure my online request has gone through, but that I'm also supposed to call in to ensure the order is ready before I come in to pick it up! Are you freaking kidding me? They know that every month that my necessary medication is due, yet EVERY month it's a fight. The staff could care less, and actually attempt to make me feel like it's MY fault and that I should just roll over and accept their poor service. We are the customer and we should be the ones they're assisting, not the other way around. They know they're only one of two pharmacies in the area and they don't appreciate their customers. The female manager is completely snarky, disrespectful, and callous. This is the worst run business I've ever encountered.

Well, the other place said it had been filled, so they couldn't. I spent over a half hour the first day trying to reach them to tell them not to fill and didn't reach them. The second day, I spent 45 minutes talking with someone and they said they would cancel it. Sadly, two hours later, they called me and said that the Rx's had been filled. That set me over the top. Never go there because it can take up to two weeks to get something filled and you never know if employees will really be working and that the Rx will be open even though it is posted open hours. I really rate them a -20!!!!!
