This is seriously the worst Safeway I have ever been in which says a lot as I have been in many Safeways. They are constantly out of products, facing is non-existent as I am always having to reach back into the shelves to grab whichever product I need. Prices are not kept up to date or are just not marked at all. Go to any other surrounding grocery store in the area and you will be happier, trust me. Went to Rohnert Park Safeway yesterday to buy a couple of items quickly. Clearly got in the wrong line when I say how slowly the checker was moving! She was having a long conversation with the customer about reading glasses and who knows what else? Apparently she is unable to bag the groceries, ring them up while having a conversation. Instead of doing her job, she opted to have a chit chat with the customer! All unrelated to Safeway or their products. I turned around to see a longer an d longer line forming behind. Customers rolling their eyes and stamping feet. Then she finally moves on to next customer and proceeds to discuss the headlines on the People magazine with this one! Are you kidding? By the time she got to me, I had been waiting for 20 minutes to pay for 7 items. If you see a cashier named SUSAN, run as fast as you can to another line. I know I won't be going back. read more

This used to be the main place I shopped for food (both Heavy Duty and Quick shopping), but lately I've come to terms with a few uncomfortable truths: They are rarely stocked well. Sure they have a wide selection, but the items YOU want are usually out of stock. It used to be one of the cleaner Safeways, but on my last trip I was blowing inches of dust off of my canned goods. The produce has become low quality. Prices are no longer as good as I used to think. It's sad because I used to swear by Safeway, especially this particular one, but lately with me at least they have certainly fallen out of favor. On a lighter note: on my last trip there I almost peed my pants I was laughing so hard. While my groceries were being checked, the bagger walked up (a young man about 18 or so) and began to bag my stuff. I was doing big shopping, so there was a bunch of stuff flying down the conveyer belt towards the kid. Obviously overwhelmed, he started frantically hitting the button to stop the belt and yelled, "Whoa, b****!" LOL I thought I was gonna die!!! The checker lady was mortified. I used to hate this store. Something to do with stuck up people, horrible parking lot and me being grumpy. Now, its not that bad. Lets face it - who really wants to grocery shop anyways right? so your starting off with a not so enthusiastic chore to begin with. Sometimes I can not decide where to go grocery shopping and the first thing I think of is Food Maxx, of course because they are cheap, but then I have horrible flashbacks of crammed isles and screaming kids and the whole cattle chute layout of the place - one wrong turn and your like a lone fish swimming against the incoming salmon run - so if you look at your options, this Safeway is much less dramatic that other stores.... I can usually always find what I need, The checker Ken D. is always nice, as well as the others and if I begin to wander aimlessly around, someone is right there asking if I need help finding anything. Not great. They're open 24-hours, which is why I still shop here on occasion, but it seems like they're going downhill. They've recently phased out a number of gluten-free products as they try to sell their own brand of those goods (meh), and their prices are forever escalating. The store always seems a bit dirty, and it's dimly lit. The staff will actively ignore you until you make it almost comical that you're trying to get their attention. If you go there late at night, the aisles are often completely blocked in the middle by pallets for restocking, but nobody's around to help you get to a product you wish to buy (restocking is important, but it's kind of silly to have a 24-hour store if the aisles are only accessible during normal business hours). THE PRODUCE IS NASTY. I don't know how many moldy strawberries or flavorless onions it took, but I finally gave up on getting edible produce there. I just don't buy any, because it'll get thrown out or puked up. THE MEAT IS ICK. And OVERPRICED. It's low-grade ("Select", the lowest of the three USDA grades usually sold to the public), low-quality meat, and I'm not sure it's much fresher than frozen hamburger. The roasts only turn out so-so, the steaks are so-so, pretty much any of it is so-so. It's usually quite expensive, and the higher-grade/quality meats at nearby grocers (like Raley's, on the other side of the shopping mall) are usually around the same price (or cheaper, via sales). I haven't been able to purchase foods from their bakery for a long time now (no wheat/gluten), but about 1-2 years ago, it was pretty sad. I adore eclairs, and bought some for my birthday. They were soggy and the flavor was poor, and somehow they were intensely too-sweet. Hurt my teeth! I know it's a sweet pastry, but goodness! Pharmacy staff seems OK, but the prices are ridiculous. OTC medicines and personal care products aren't much better. If you get something on sale, it *might* be comparable to Target, but even then, just barely. Unless it's for a 1am, "direct-deposit just went through and there's nothing in the house" food/personal run, or a "baby has a fever and I need baby ibuprofen" emergency trip, just don't bother with this place. read more

As others have said, this place needs more checkers, deli help etc etc. No reason to only have 2 checkers open on Mothers day for gods sake. A.V.O.I.D. Safeway corporate management needs to overhaul the employees in this store. Today, I stood in the self check out line for 15 minutes because the 2 people using the self check out machines didn't know what to do/ how to use it and there was only ONE SLUG available to ask for help. man ALL The self check out machines. She needs to be fired STAT. It was more than obvious she didn't care about her job or helping customers. She was doing everyone a BIG FAVOR and she let everyone know it. A 3star rating because this is my neighborhood shopping source. 3 because I have come to like the employees and I come here often enough I know them well and they know me. I even have former students and athletes who work here and I love to see them doing well. No more than 3 stars because once again during a busy time there are lines of customers down the aisles. In my opinion there are not enough registers open to properly manage students returning from spring break and the usual Sunday evening rush. Of course now that you can't self-check if you have alcohol the express lane is less "express" and more "rush hour traffic". They card...consistently. Several times I've been here at different times and different days of the week. The employees have been firm yet kind and held to store policies. I like that! I agree with others that it would be nice if this store was updated to the more spacious and modern layout but I kinda enjoy the "old school" feel as long as it stays clean! read more

They'll help you a little bit if you ask them for it. If you have a question for them, they just kind of look around and ask one another without any results... The employees don't seem to understand how to do customer service. They're either making judgments about our food purchases or discussing their previous hunting trips in graphic detail (which is one subject that should be off limits, as that can be offensive to some customers). But aside from that, they have pretty good sales with their stupid "Club Card" and they're usually not too crowded (except on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights when people are standing in line for booze). read more

One of the few sources of 24 hour food of any sort for like three counties around. Clean, fairly pleasant shopping experience, it can get slammed after work and on weekends, but outside of the typical high-traffic hours it's fine and the selection is decent. They seem to have started doing some seriously fat breakfast burritos and sandwiches for 2.50 lately in the deli (from 6-11), and also a egg mcmuffin clone on whole wheat for 2 bucks. This makes Safeway actually a great stop for a cheap and decent breakfast when traveling, you can get some eggs and veggies and saturated fat in you at the deli, grab an OJ for $1, donuts and treats over at the bakery, good single-serve Tillamook yogurt for 50 cents a cup, cottage cheese, fruit, even get your coffee if you can stomach some Charbucks. Gotta remember this for my Great California Camping Tour this summer. read more

Oh my goodness! This was the worst Safeway I've ever experienced. I waited 10 minutes in the bakery for assistance. There were three other employees in the deli that wouldn't help me. It was literally just a cake out of the glass counter. The bakery attendant was nice but all she had was excuses on why she wasn't there. The checkout lines were busy, even the self checkout lines. Customer service is awful. Tried to buy a single bottle of wine, but was declined due to my drivers license being out of state-which is completely valid. Arizona DL do not expire until your 65th birthday. Meaning expiration date is far out. Cashier and manager totally embarrassed me in front of many other customers, and when I attempted to speak/educate the higher up manager he rudely walked away from me. I am a traveling medical professional, so updating DL is not necessary. Will not be shopping with Safeway any longer. read more

Always order family event cakes from here multiple times a year and this year it was a horrible experience. We ordered a Oakland A's birthday cake for my little brother this year and I am currently sitting here waiting 30 minutes for the cake I PREORDERED TO STILL BE MADE. It was suppost to be ready at 12 today we get here 12:09 it's still not ready and then they say it's about 20 minutes til it will be ready. My brothers birthday party starts at 12:30 it's currently 12:25 so not only do they have very rude employees especially ANGEL they are understaffed and before our arrival we called to confirm our order because trying to even order this cake was a struggle as well don't even get me started. Decent deals, but nothing special outside of your direct competitors like Target and Walmart. Seriously, 1 cashier for most of the day?! I came in at 8pm tonight only because the parking lot wasn't packed. Only to find a line that went 10 carts deep. I'm shocked more people don't just abandon their carts to shop elsewhere more often. I'll stick with Costco from now on. I recommend only coming here if you need a few things. Don't get your regular shopping done here unless you come in the middle of the night. I've Never been scared to ask staff for help! It Was early morning! Around 8am, the day after Mother's Day! I Tried to get some flowers for a late Mother's Day gift! Poorly run store. I'm a caregiver went in to get a electric cart. Was told by an employee I can't take carts out of the store when it's raining. "Because someone said they got a shock from one of them". Really? Instead of getting the defective cart repaired they banned disabled people from using them to get to & from there cars? If it's raining you will have to double park at the door, "good luck with that" (and hope they will let you use the cart). If your lucky to get a cart, good luck trying to navigate around all the products in the isles. The store is ADA unfriendly. Parking and checkout is a nightmare. Use to go to this store all the time. But has gone down hill so bad, I would not recommend this store to anyone. There are better choices. read more

WARNING. !!!! This store doesn't even deserve one star. I had an incident with Brandon at the sandwich station this morning . He didn't wash his hands ONCE in the midst of entering his department OR BETWEEN making orders with 4 different customers !!! I watched him. He then proceeded to make my breakfast burritos with gloves , I let him. So then as soon as he is about to wrap my burrito and give it to me , he takes off his gloves and puts his bare hands on my food, rolls it up.... and then i tell him those burritos supposed to get heated up one last time . And then as he waits for them in the oven he takes his mask and pulls it below his nose until my burritos were done . and then says "please don't walk out with this". As he gives them to me . I started to tell him how dare he . Let me speak to his manager . And he said ok let's talk to her with a challenging look on his face . And then he said customer service is over there pointing to the other side of the store. So I go grab his manager and she is just as bad as him. I didn't get her name but she also had a dumb founded look on her face like she didn't comprehend or even care at what I just told her . That's when I said let me speak to your Store team leader . And he was better , but still nowhere as he should be with customer service at his level. His name was josh. He gave us a five dollar coupon, this is kind, but minimal . I was very shocked with the level of professionalism that I saw from not one employee or two, but three. I don't know how this store passes health services. I would like to know how many cases of Covid have been found through out this store. They're all wearing masks YET DONT FOLLOW SIMPLE HEALTH GUIDELINES . Or take the necessary measures to discipline their employees. Brandon was yelling back to me from across his department !! Completely unacceptable. His manager and other store leaders didn't take him off the floor and give him disciplinary measures . That should have happened right away! What a disappointment . Normally this would be a 5. As I have always had good experiences with Safeway so the star rating is just for this particular day. It was mother's day and and my boyfriend and I went to Safeway to pick up flowers for our moms. And the floral department was packed. People everywhere but they had a few people working and everyone was doing the best they could. So we picked up the flowers we wanted and waited in line. When we got to the check stand the woman ringing us up was amazing. However the one behind her that was doing the wrapping was super rude. My boyfriend was confirming the amount with the woman ringing us up and the one behind made a comment "it's your mom just pay the damn bill". 1. We were paying the bill 2. I can hear you which means everyone else can too. Sooo unprofessional. It was shocking to me. I was blown away because it was none of her business and why do you think it's ok to be that rude when I can hear you. You were 2 feet from me. Well despite how I feel about this Safeway I will continue shopping here because it's close by and reasonably priced. That being said, this place is a freaking disaster. We have lived in RP 2 years and shop here weekly and it is always the same thing. SOOOO crowded. Not just a lot of people it's the aisles that are extremely over crowded with merchandise and promotional stuff. You can barely get thru an aisle without running into someone and having to back up and maneuver around them because the aisles are just too small! I would think its a hazard for sure. They are under staffed and a number of the checkers are pretty grumpy. Now this place is ALWAYS busy and the lines are ALWAYS super long that go far down the aisles. If you can avoid this place, I'd recommend it. read more
