i usually stop by Safeway to buy a breakfast sandwich and today was just horrible. I had five people with me and we ordered two sandwiches and three breakfast burritos they took almost 30 minutes taking our order and when they were done they over charged us by charging more things than they bought. my friends that got the breakfast burritos said that told them that they didn't have potato wedges. like how do you not have potato wedges. and then when they started eating the burrito THE EGG WAS COLD like come on if you're gonna already not put the potato wedges at least make the burrito good read more

Living in Glen Cove this is the nearest supermarket. I love it! Been patronizing this location for 4 years. It's always a joy shopping here. Employees are pleasant and simply nice-new and old. Produce department is organized with the freshest of fresh and I can always find habanero peppers. Usually, I wrap my own flowers, so not too Much interaction with any florists, but the prices are reasonable. On several occasions lately i've been visiting Starbucks inside. Favorite barista is Ericka- so pleasant and thoughtful. Not only is she a barista, she serves as a mixologist. She gets how I like sweet drinks and will suggest which syrup to include and extra pumps. Last week coming off a really horrible cold, she suggested mint majesty tea with peach tea. So yummy!!! So disappointed with Safeway. They never have enough cashiers, no matter the time of day! Lines are always long, even with the self check out. The produce is decent but seems to die quickly and the organic options are really limited and not of great quality. On a good note, The people working are always nice. read more

This safeway is always packed after 9am. Sometimes it gets inundated with ghetto/homeless/red neck/ meth crack heads, so becareful in the parking lot and inside. Theres always 1 or 2 cashiers present And a long line that wraps around. Its pretty interesting people watching inside. It reminds me of the people at walmart. read more

I'm no longer a fan of Safeway, however I prefer to have my hubby drive a little farther to American Canyon for this one, instead of this one in Vallejo. Unfortunately, my experience at this location has not been great. On the few occasions we did go here, I've had to return expired meat twice. Although the manager was nice enough to refund me, it should never have happened, let alone happened twice. Lastly, the selection also isn't that great and neither is the area. read more

Shop at this Safeway. Enjoy buying a s'mores cake that is so dry and stale that it tastes as if half the flour were replaced with a heap of sand? Rock hard marshmallows? Soft and chewy grahams? Shop at this Safeway. Enjoy shopping at a Supermarket where people block the exits, handicapped spaces and driving areas in the parking lot with their cars because they are too lazy to park at the far side of the lot where there is still space available? Well, shop at any supermarket in Vallejo, CA. This Safeway is awful. The service level is appalling, items are often out of stock, and their bakery is one of the worst I've ever encountered. The redeeming factors of this store - their butchers rock with excellent customer service. Can't find the cut of meat you're looking for? Ask and they will order it immediately. Also, the young kid that is always pushing around the dust mop? Yeah, he needs a promotion. I think the manager of this safeway does not understand customer service. Here are a few examples. The staff parks in the spaces up front leaving customers having to walk a long way after parking. I was at the deli Monday at 5:30 pm (always a very busy time). There was one employee behind the counter leaving many customers waiting. When i say waiting i mean 15 to 20 minutes. This is common at this deli. Does this look like good customer service?. Does it cut into his or her profit therefore not caring about servicing their customers? I am starting to visit Rayles in Benicia. It is a longer drive but their customer service is much better. I have lived in glen cove many years and have always used this Safeway because it is convenient. Today was the last day I will ever go here. They never have enough checkers and always have lines (2 checkers on a Tuesday after 3pm.). They have displays but fail to restock the shelves with product. Today I was not even greeted by the checker, she literally said nothing to me. And was talking bad about me in front of me as I was standing in line, to another customer. Ordered a cake for my son's birthday party. When I picked it up it was not what I ordered. I ordered a chocolate frosting. When they showed it to me it was white frosting. The man helping me was confused also because on the order it said chocolate. I called for the manager. Maddie the manager came and lied to my face telling me it was chocolate and that if I wanted to cut into it so I can taste it. I told her it's for my son's birthday party and I was NOT going to cut into his cake. The man helping me out was great. He apologize for Maddie's lie and wish he could of done more. PREFACE: This review is only for the deli and NOT for the entire store. I was craving a sandwich from the deli here. I normally order an all meat one from the walnut creek safeway but since I was in town i decided to get one here since I was waiting for my car to be serviced across the way. There were a total of 3 people making sandwiches. Now when I go to the walnut creek one I was "mentally trained" that it would take a while for the sandwich to be made. There were 5 people in front of me and when I normally go through that at the walnut creek location Im just used to waiting about 15 minutes before I even get my turn. I was in and out with my order in 5 minutes! I was so amazed on how fast the service was. The sandwich however was just okay. The bread didn't taste fresh and the meat was on the dry end. I went around 4:00 pm which is relative to the time that I go to the other locations. Five stars for the service but unfortunately for the sandwich i was rather disappointed. read more

The local Safeway grocery delivery service is awful !!! I'm home sick, so I tried ordering some groceries to be delivered on Monday morning. The website said there were no more delivery slots available that day, so I scheduled them to be delivered as early as possible on Tuesday. It turn out that would be between 3 and 4pm. I still hadn't seen the delivery person at 4:45, so I called. They said there was a delay, and that they were running about 2 hours late. I was still waiting for the delivery person at 8:30, so I called again. They said I wouldn't get them that day, and that I would have to reschedule for the next day. I said to just cancel my order, and they said it would take them 5 days to process a refund. read more

The Deli is nothing without Felicia. She was the force of the deli!! Previously I'd come get in & out within 10 minutes of arriving @ the deli with a perfect sandwich. NOW.... I have to stand @ the deli @ least 10-15 minutes before being told "we will be with you in one minute". & my sandwich is all soggy before I can even get home because it's soooooo much sauce. I am not sure why I ever come here anymore. I am currently standing in a line 20 people deep waiting to check out - I am literally half-way down the aisle towards the back of the store. I swear the lines get worse every time. I keep telling myself this will be the last time I ever come here, but I think I may be able to officially kick the Safeway habit to the curb for good after this. I would sit in SF traffic for 3 hours needing to pee than deal with these lines again! So long Safeway, and good riddance. Produce and deli are both terrible. I've seen bugs swarming the fruit, and have to search through anything prepackaged to find one that isn't past the expiration date. This Safeway has staff that has always been so friendly and helpful with a smile! Todays visit even showed me such sweet kindness from a teenage boy who asked if he could help me lift some of my heavier items unto the conveyer belt for the checker to scan! I am not an old lady, but how many young teenagers offer such sweet assistance! I have always had such a pleasant experience at this Safeway! I did have to deduct a star because there always seems to be some items lacking at this particular Safeway. The most annoying is when newly advertised items are not available, even though they are listed in the paper. I only wish it would stay open 24 hours. I thought I remembered that it use to be open all night, but not anymore. I use to live shopping after midnight when there was no lines or wait at the register. read more

First, this safeway has stopped carrying organic whole chicken. I don't eat chicken whose feed is tainted with Round Up. The staff are nice and this review is primarily aimed at the signature sour dough loaves. It claims to be San Francisco style and artisan made. It is neither. Real sour dough is made with starter. This is made with yeast. It also has gluten added and many more ingredients than good sour dough such as Acme and Boudin. It tastes nothing like real sour dough. Why can't Safeway either make real sour dough with starter and the minimal ingredients needed or include good sour dough from other bakeries so that shoppers will at least have choices. read more

I have come to this location many times after hitting up Yo Sushi or just being near by. My girlfriend swears by this Safeway and I have never found them to be under stocked on any product. This Safeway does not value its loyal customers. They have one employee in particualr (a female in management) that is rude and unwilling to help. After shopping there loyally for years, spending half of my paychecks there, she refused to call my bank and verify a check (i've written at least 100 checks there, never bounced one) because i didn't have my ID (even though she sees me in there ALL the time and has called on my checks before). Long story short, this place is a nightmare and I will never spend another dime there, even if it is right down the street. read more

Being that this safeway is just around the bend from my house, I'll admit that I'm slightly biased. I've been coming here since it wasn't Safeway and switched from Fry's to SaveMart to Safeway (and I'm sure I left something out). But as SAFEWAY, it has been wonderful. It has definitely progressed from what it used to be, now with the addition of an olive bar (yum!), Starbucks (too bad I'm not a fan!), and a wide variety of uncommon fruits and vegetables. I'm always pleased to see "ampalaya" aka Bittermelon in stock. I might have given 5 stars if I didn't currently live in Alameda and visit their Safeway frequently and find that Glen Cove's Safeway is slightly inferior. But as far as Vallejo Safeways go, Glen Cove is the way to go. (By the way, I have been to the other locations in vallejo and not only is the variety better in Glen Cove-Robles, but the service is on point!) read more

Second bad experience with an employee there. Everytime she approaches me she flip off her name tag so I cannot see her name. She is a older Caucasian women heavy belt. Both experience has been bad. Each time I left crying. The tune in her voice when speaking the harsh demeaning words and her hostile attitude. She always approach me in self out I'm always with my son. She watches me scan every thing in my cart while making remarks as if I'm going to try to steal. She does this in front of my son. Both times I ask to speak with a supervisor. The first time I spoke with a man supervisor he apologize for her behavior and told me she wasn't a racist. I have never called this woman a racist but she told him I called her racist. I really like most of the people here but the deli department is awful. I always stand there and no one will help me. There's union employees for you. The inventory is severely lacking, the lines are so long I usually drive 10 mins to Raley's in Benicia knowing I'll make up the time because I won't stand in line as long. I endure because usually employees are very courteous, friendly but there's always the one. This one needs to be handled, have had enough of this. 12/17/2018 I used self checkout lane directly in front of cashier, Constance/Connie, today at 12:10PM. I had 9 items and my 2 year old grandson in cart. I am almost 60 years old with mostly gray hair, long, straight and I appear African American although Multi-racial. I had on glasses, black pants, black tennis, black turtleneck sweater and black hoodie. I brought my own insulated green Rachel Ray grocery bag. Inside of the bag I left a canvas bag as I did not need it. I started to scan items but had to wait for my bag to be verified. Connie came over several times, again I only had 9 items. She verified how many cans I put in the bag after scanning. She searched under the canvas bag I had left inside of my green grocery bag. I entered information to look up price for Roma tomatoes, which scanned correctly no assistance needed yet Connie came to verify I actually had Roma tomatoes. She touched the bag of tomatoes while asking "Those ARE Roma tomatoes?" Let me say again I only had 9 items. Connie needed to verify each of the 9 items I checked. There were white customers at the other 3 self-check out registers. Yet Connie needed to verify each of the 9 items I had. She stated "Your bag is the problem." I have used self check out on many occasions. I have used my insulated grocery bag for 4 years. No other Safeway employee has ever expressed my bag as being a problem. No other Safeway employ has verified each of the items I have scanned and placed in my bag. You have camera's. Most of the staff have been professional and friendly. Today I was made to feel BLACK. As when I was a child in America before the 1965 Civil Rights Act was passed. I was made to feel as if I were a thief, an obvious shop lifter. I wasn't aware that shop lifters use registers in front of store employees. I have been shopping at that store for years. Most employees recognize me as a regular customer. Connie needs to hover around EVERY customer at self check out if her concern is Asset Protection. I am disgusted, angry and hurt. Explain what problem there could possibly be with my grocery bag. Explain why none of the other 3 WHITE customers were HOVERED over, watched, stalked, scrutinized with each item scanned, checked, produce verified, counted and bags SEARCHED. read more

You need to check expiration dates on your merchandise! I purchased a tub of Nestles cookie dough on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018. When I opened and unsealed it, the cookie dough was all dry. So I looked for the expiration date and was stunned to see "use or freeze by May 2016"!!! Of course, I no longer have the receipt so I'm out of luck. read more

I shop here almost everyday. The store is ok. But the Bakery is the absolute WORSE!!! Ordered a cake for my niece from the book but wanted a different color border. The man who took my order said it was fine. But someone called me an HOUR before my pick up time to tell me they couldnt do that and they cant put different toys with the cake. AN HOUR. this is a great safeway! long lines are usually at the end of the workday, when people are getting stuff to take home to cook for dinner. on sunday nights much of the produce isn't very fresh. i'd say the best days to go are wednesday mornings/daytime, since they change their specials/savings every wednesday and i think that's also when they get their new shipments in. when they redid the place a while back to better compete with it's organic-touting rivals (like whole foods), they did an amazing job, especially regarding customer service. not only do cashiers ask how your day is going, but they cheerfully joke around with each other and usually appear to be on pretty friendly terms with co-workers, which to me says they're getting well taken care of by management. bravo, glen cove safeway! read more

Recently ordered a cake for a birthday, it looked good at first nothing out of the ordinary. When it was time to do the cake cutting I noticed that there was way more frosting than actual cake it was like one half frosting and one half cake. I was none the less left unimpressed with the Bakery's work at this particular store. So if you are looking for an overly sweetened cake then this is for you but if your like me and prefer to actually taste the cake go elsewhere. read more
