This winery has become one of my new favorites this year. It has beauty, charm, hospitality, and fantastic wines. I first visited this place in March 2025. I was so impressed. It's quite magical - from the intriguing artwork to the gorgeous garden - it's a place to settle into and take a moment to enjoy wine and nature. In March 2025 they offered complimentary wine tasting that specific month. I think each month they have a special event or a special offering. In March we did buy a bottle of their wine to take home after our tasting. They also serve small snack platters which pair excellent with the wine. We ordered one and it was deliciously fantastic. In the spring they had yard games and in the winter they have a cozy fire pit. Right now in November/December 2025 they are offering tickets on select Saturdays to come to their special holiday night light show. I went last Saturday. They had S'mores, mulled wine, hot chocolate, and hot fresh apple cider. The gardens dazzled with music and lights. I had two s'mores and a little cup of each drink. The cider and hot chocolate brought back childhood nostalgia and hit the spot. Tickets are required, but the first weekend was free unless you did wine tasting or buy wine by the glass. It was very magical. Everyone was friendly and full of holiday cheer. The gardens were beautiful to walk. I took my elderly parents. My mother recently experienced a bad head injury so my parents opted not to drink. I tried a small taste of the mulled wine, but it was too strong for me. I made an Instagram reel of my experience besides this review. I hope others can come out and enjoy the magic of this place too. I definitely will come back. I hope they offer more food and events. That really raises the bar and makes them the best winery in Yamhill Wine Country. read more

If you are into interesting/modern architecture, stunning landscaping, incredible koi ponds and other artworks, this is probably your spot. I absolutely LOVE the building! Such a great design, and perfect for a wine tasting. I particularly like the "orange" room. Service is relaxed and friendly. It's darker and more red than others. Almost looks like a Pinot noir but has great flavor. The pond has huge koi fish and beautiful plants around. Absolutely gorgeous location with some noteworthy Pinots. Reservations are required, and they evidently fill up quickly on the weekends. The Japanese garden with koi pond, lavender fields, and serene walkways were all exquisite. The building itself is beautiful with great artwork within. Detracting from our visit this particular Friday was a wedding they were setting up for. We had to walk through the wedding photo session to enter the building and were questioning whether we had the right date/place down in our calendar. No warm reception by staff who themselves seemed disoriented by the wedding hubbub. We seated ourselves at a two-top by the floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors open to the outside since the patio was full. This would normally be just fine, but the wedding set-up soon blocked off our outdoor view , so we moved ourselves to a table-less spot on the patio. The patio is definitely the place to be on a summer day. I am regrettably and embarrassingly bad at remembering names, but our server (Lauren, maybe??) was great. She said it was only her second day. She was friendly, accommodating, and didn't hesitate to find out answers to our questions when she didn't know them off hand. I was thankfully the only one of us doing a tasting that afternoon. I say thankfully because these were some generous pours, and we would have otherwise had no choice but to stay for the wedding until we sobered up enough to drive home. My friends who recommended the winery said the same thing after their visit last summer, so I don't think this was a case of someone new being heavy handed. While I didn't care for the white or the rose I tried, the Pinots were lovely, and we ended up bringing two home with us which waived the tasting fee. We didn't partake, but they also offer a cheese and charcuterie spread as well as a few other small snacks. Surely worth a visit, but try to avoid a day when there's an event taking place so you can fully enjoy your surroundings. read more

Literally, one of the prettiest wineries I've ever been to. Even though it was pouring rain outside, it still was amazing to visit. The drive to get there was a little long, but totally worth it in my opinion. Everything from the fun digital art to the beautiful Japanese garden makes me want to stay there all day. COVID precautions are in place. It's not too crowded and there was only one other group there when we went. My boyfriend and I got the standard tasting since it was complimentary with Alaska Airlines. Visited Saffron today. I'll start with the good. The wines were pretty good and the setting was beautiful. The charcuterie board was pretty good and the snack tray was good. Now with the bad. The service was really really slow. If it wasn't the length between the popes it was having to actually go into the tasting room (we sat outside on the patio) to get water. Twice. We also had to actually go into the tasting room to revisit one to make a determination of what to by. Continuing the bad. The pours were really small and they weren't using those dreaded measuring devices they stick on top. Maybe they were pacing themselves. For $35, I would have expected more. I've been to close to 100 wineries and it was in the bottom 5 for size of pour. Hard to sample a wine when you get one shot at it. And more bad. At the entrance there was a special offer stating 3 of the wines for $129. Great! What a deal! They were having an event that night so I was thinking great they are trying to sell a lot of wine! I confirmed with out server the price. I go to pay and he suddenly leaves saying the price in computer was wrong. He comes back and says the price was wrong. It was the actually the price of another item on the advertisement. Jackie up the price $40 more dollars. What..... Mind you, we already paid $60 for charcuterie boards, $15 for the snack board and had small pours. I can understand the mistake but it was their mistake. Honor the price and then quickly fix it. TLDR; Saffron isn't cheap, service is slow and their are lots of other places to spend your money at. read more

This place is truly something else. My wife and I decided to go to this vineyard for my birthday as I wanted to try my hand at wine. It was probably one of the most enjoyable birthdays I've ever had! We signed up for the wine tasting experience and 2 hours passed us by in a flash! The service there was exquisite, all the employees were incredibly nice and very accommodating for us. Their wine was fantastic, and I highly recommend adding the charcuterie board, there wasn't a single thing on there that I didn't like. The vineyard itself is beautiful, they have a beautiful view as it is situated on a hillside. Their yard looks great and is the perfect place to relax. They also have a full Koi pond with a patio that lead right up to it and a nice little trail that goes around it. Even the vineyard building itself looks beautiful, and everything is very clean. I really don't have anything to compare it to price wise, as this is the only vineyard I've been to, but the experience we had was absolutely worth every penny! We will absolutely be visiting again for my wife's birthday and anytime we're in town! read more

But for the September review of Yelp friend Jessica K I would not have had Saffron Fields on my radar for a planned pre-Thanksgiving weekend wine tasting stop. So in the spirit of the season I start this review with thanks for hers and also extend her mitzvah by saying this: if you are wine tasting in the Willamette Valley go here! Fabulous new facility with intriguing architecture, gorgeous garden, spectacular views and very good first vintage wines to taste. The owners are husband and wife, Angela Summers and Sanjeev Lahoti, who are engineers from Houston. When they purchased the property in 2004 it was farmland with a barn (that will be of interest later if you read on) with a vision for a winery and winemaking through partnerships with local experts and contractors for the former and winemakers for the latter. FACILITY Set on a knoll, the wine tasting room building was created by a well known architect and the surrounding Asian themed landscaping, including water feature and sculptures and patio to take in the spectacular view, by a world class landscape architect. We had a chance to enjoy time with Angela as she walked us around to look at and talk about the art displayed throughout the facility. She also talked about the awareness on the part of the contractor as the work was unfolding that this was not a building with a garden but a garden with a building. The outside is integral to the structure itself. Some parts of the garden are still a work in progress and we are eager to see outcomes on our return visits. As to the structure, given the barn on the property could not reasonably be modified to become winery, although that was the owners' first thought to respect the land and origins, it was disassembled and the wood from the barn used in constructing this incredible tasting room. Look at the tight grain fir that lines the walls as you come in for just one example of that. Also impressive that they used local contractors for the project and a plaque outside names them and shows the distance from the winery where the businesses are located. Very nice. ART A perfect pairing with wine is art and some of the art here, from a visual graphic of beautiful but poisonous flowers projected on the wall to photos of Buddhist finger poses to bronze sculpture, comes from Angela and Sanjeev's personal collection. Some art, like a unique LED light panel display on one wall, was commissioned for the winery. What a treat to have this kind of gallery to enjoy with wine and views too. TASTING FORMAT Tasting flights are $15 and include five wines including the Saffron Fields first release of Riesling (very, very good - $28 / bottle) as well as their first vintage of Pinot Noir ($48). The former from grapes brought in from the Columbia Valley. The latter from estate grapes was my husband's favorite of the four Pinots poured, theirs plus three others using their grapes made by other local wine makers, such as Roots Saffron Fields Pinot Noir (which was my favorite). Great fun to taste how differently grapes from the same vineyard have nuance in the bottle based on how a winemaker treats them. Fee is refunded with a minimal purchase of any single bottle of Pinot Noir or any $50 total purchase. Metered pours in top quality stemware are offered by friendly and knowledgeable folks behind the tasting bar. During the pre Thanksgiving weekend event any tasting flight also entitled guests to enjoy a lunch of yummy petite sandwiches and fabulous cookies. (Note to self; Find this caterer!) That may be so for Thanksgiving weekend festivities too. TASTING SPACE Standing room at the bar. Also seating inside on a large, custom sectional as well as standard height (yahoo!) tables and chairs. More standard height seating on patio. PARKING A gravel lot right outside the tasting room front entry also includes two paved spaces for accessible parking. If the lot is full I imagine you'll need to park downhill of the long gravel driveway. ACCESSIBILITY From parking layout to pathway in the door to the tasting room and patios outside, this is a beautifully universally accessible facility. Although required to be so by Federal civil rights laws that are nearly 25 years old, it is astounding how many winery's ignore equal access. Kudos to the design and build team, including the owners, for getting this right so all people can get in the door. BOTTOM LINE Saffron Fields is fabulous all around right now. Pssst! Only open for three days and I am extremely impressed. Saffron has a gorgeous ultra modern tasting room that doubles as an art gallery. Fingers crossed in 3-4 weeks weeks the landscaping will be done and they will have their own Japanese garden designed by the same man who did Portland's own Japanese Garden. And the wine? It's good. Damn good. The Riesling is excellent. Their pinots are big. Right now they are utilizing three different winemakers but it looks like the main guy will be Tony Rynders. Wine, similar to food is so personal. Frankly, food and I go way back ..... unlike wine. We also go way back just not as far. While on our discovery of Portland wine country we wanted to see the most picturesque vineyard and were guided this way. The place is amazing, it is contemporary, cozy and has one of the most amazing outside patios. I could sit there and enjoy a glass of wine day in and day out. Sadly, I was not impressed with the wine but again, it is so personal. It does not mean it is good, does not mean it is bad, just not tasty to my palate. The scenery and the vineyard make up for the taste however! Bring a camera and enjoy! read more

I highly recommend this winery! We had a great time here. We got four wine tastings and four appetizers for 25$ each. It was a great way to taste and get some food in as well. The food ranged from BBQ sliders to delicious samosas. The property was beautiful and our server David was extremely helpful. Great photo opportunities as well as amazing views of the valley. Minimal, modern tasting room building that looks like it's straight out of an architectural magazine? Yes. Filled with the owner's personal art collection, which include some really nice pieces? Double-yes. Oh, and stellar wines from a few different wine makers (showcasing multiple takes on the same grapes)? This is all sorts of awesome. Seriously, I love tasting wines hand vs. land, and finding out how different wines from the same terroir and vintage can be when made by different folks. The labels being showcased here currently are Roots, Saffron Fields, EiEiO, and Tendril. Saffron Fields is made by Tony Rynders (as mentioned by Jessica K) who used to be the winemaker at Domaine Serene. His private label is Tendril, which I found to be the winning wine (2010 White Label) of the whole set. But all of the wines are fairly big, beautiful productions. The prices are concordant with the quality. However $48 for the Tendril I think is a pretty decent retail. It's a gem. The tasting room is still very much under construction. The building is up, but the grounds are all torn up and in process of becoming a Japanese-style garden. It's apt to be gorgeous. But the building alone is worth stopping in for, even if you don't taste the wine. read more

The ladies serving behind the counter were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Being able to wonder around the property is fantastic and enjoyable. This is not the place to visit in what is wonderful Oregon wine country. Save yourself some time and avoid. I've never written a negative review as I always believe in giving a business a second chance, but the experience was just so awful, I felt compelled to warn others. The wine wasn't bad, but it was the service that just made me embarrassed to have brought guests to visit. We left early and went to WillaKenzie which was amazing. The owners need to secret shop their own establishment and see they need a staff upgrade. Terrible experience. read more

Enjoyed the wonderful atmoshpere this weekend. Staff is very friendly and the setting is beautiful. We brought a cooler of food and ate outside. Reclaimed wood from the onsite barn was used to build the facility, water feature/pond designed in a Japanese Garden style and art, complete the ensemble. Got cought up in talking about the facility, I almost forgot to talk about the wine. They have been open less than a year, but have been producing since 2010, I think. They are selling everything from 2012 and I'll have to say, we enjoyed the whole flight including the Chardonnay. Great flavors from some of the original soils in the area. They are going to be a force to wreckin with. We only have two places we like to mingle at for a few hours, and this would be one of them. Can't wait to see what they have for the future!!! Loved this place. The wine was great. Priced well around $48 a bottle for Pinot. Bought two bottles. Tasting fee of $15 is normal around the Willamette Valley and is waived if you buy a bottle. Loved the winemaker's traditional Oregon style to making Pinots. We brought our tweens and they walked around the coi pond...no coi yet but lots of tadpoles for my daughter to catch. The architecture is beautiful. I understand they are planning on having events here. I think a birthday party in the winery would suit me fine! read more

The entire experience from beginning to end was fantastic. The wine was great, the views were great and the charcuterie board was great. We brought our young daughter with us and the staff were remarkable with her. The two women (Andrea and ??) showed her how to do tricks with the dog, let her feed the koi, and took her on a grounds tour with a tasting of the various blueberries. While this level of attention is never expected for children at a winery, it made for an incredibly enjoyable experience when most wineries pretend our very well behaved daughter doesn't even exist. I brought a group of people on a wine tasting tour for the day. Unfortunately due to our day's prior plans we were an hour late, luckily David and the Saffron team had our back. They exceeded our expectations with a beautiful table and customized charcuterie board waiting for us. David was our main guy, teaching us about Saffron Fields and wine in general for as long as we asked. The tasting room had a great aesthetic with modern art and an amazing view of rolling hills. Of the 3 wineries we visited in the area, Saffron Fields was by FAR our best experience. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. Great wine! Great customer service!
