Probably the best Nepalese food in South London!
Unlike many Indian restaurants, Saffron doesn't have an extensive menu with every possible variation on the theme of curry. The menu is brief and to the point, with a few dozen main dishes and a handful of starters and sides, so you know that time and care is taken over the preparation of each one. There's a few curry house favourites here for the unadventurous (Rogan Josh, Chicken Korma) but come here for the unusual Nepalese dishes like the fiery Chicken Everest or Kathmandu Lamb.
The head chef is Hitkaji Gurung, formerly of the Bombay Bicycle Club, and he takes his food very seriously indeed. All the spices are ground on the premises and the kitchen is open to the counter so you can see what's going on. And they don't use any artificial colours or preservatives - no MSG or luridly-coloured sauces here!
