Grilled veggies - nice complement to the other dishes.

This was a great find on a Sunday night in London. The place was empty I think because it's a little off the beaten path, but the food and service was great. We tried several dishes including the chicken tikka masala, the chicken tikka, and some skewered and grilled vegetables along with regular and garlic naan. Also a mango lassi! We enjoyed everything and the service was very attentive. It took a while for the food to come out but that's ok cause then you know it was made to order. I recommend, and prices were very reasonable as well.

Great food and great service! Will definitely come back again. My wife loved it too and she can sometimes be a picky eater.

    Vegetarian meal.

NGL this was the best Indian food I have ever had. We went in early on a weekday. It started with the papadam which was super fresh. The Nan was delicious as was the pakora and samosa and then ended up with tandoori vegetables and two vegetarian curry samplers. Everything was super tasty -- the spicy stuff was spicy and the service was the most attentive I have had at a restaurant in a long time. Our waiter discussed what we were familiar with from New York, how each place had different tendencies and advised us what to get. He also correctly told us we over-ordered. We didn't listen and couldn't move at the end.

So good! Get the Chicken Tikka sizzle or the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan. You will love this food it's actually amazing and pretty good for the price. We really enjoyed our dinner here and the service was very good in comparison to some other Indian restaurants we have tried.

We checked in on the lady with the tablet on the right side of the entrance. The left side is for walk ins. Super long line even at 5pm. But they were handing out small glasses of chai and something else. Anyway, the reservation line is short and they sat us right away. We wished we could have sat at the patio - it's covered. We didn't see that until we were already drinking. Well, next time! The ambiance - beautiful spot with lots and lots of tables. Every single one of them was taken. Tons of staff! They take good care of you here. Patrons vary, from dates to family dinners - the whole gamet! Come one, come all! The drinks came out right away. Dishoom IPA and chai. Beer came with a frosted glass. The chai was delicious! The food was amazing! Goan monkfish curry Ruby chicken Saffron cauliflower Garlic naan Basmati rice Everything was superb! I've had better roti in Malaysia and in the US lol Garlic naan (5.5): we ultimately got this because we didn't like the roti, but this also the garlic flavor was not shining through Other recommended dishes: chicken berry britannia with raita, charred lamb chops, murgh malai, okra fries Tip: you have to buy the rice, naan etc separately. Gymkhana isn't trying to reinvent Indian food, but instead focuses on traditional, predominantly Northern Indian flavors and is cooked with precise execution. Despite the fact that I was not always agreeable with some of the flavor profiles (mainly because I haven't encountered them before), I can't deny everything was cooked to perfection. Ordered the Punjabi Samosa to start, the Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops, the Lasooni Wild Tiger Prawns, Chicken Butter Masala, amd Pork Cheek Vindaloo as entrées, and of course had to get some Basmati Rice and the Bread Basket (the fancy name for naan). Favorite dishes were easily the Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops and the Chicken Butter Masala. The Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops were massive and cooked perfectly medium rare with no gamey taste. And this Chicken Butter Masala is exactly how I envisioned the perfect butter chicken dish in my head. Service is...well, more normal restaurant than two Michelin star level. It was fine I suppose. Exactly what I would have expected from a restaurant of this level, but nothing special. The restaurant itself was not as big as I thought it would have been. Very nice decor inside and not super bright. The one thing I wasn't too keen on was the £150/pp minimum spend, which was especially grating because later timeslots had less of a minimum spend. I would have been more ok with it if the minimum spend was £100/pp, because you're 100% going to get there. Overall, I thought Gymkhana was a good experience that was worth trying. The food was tremendous for sure. I would be more of a fan if not for the high minimum spend because honestly I could just come here for the Chicken Butter Masala and some rice and be good. The ambience is on point. The place is three levels and is very aesthetic. The aesthetic is different on each level. Definitely a vibe. 5/5 Food wise, it was okay for how expensive it is. I did the tasting menu for one, and I would not recommend this as this was a lot of food and I have some thoughts about the food as well. In retrospect, I would recommend getting a two appetizers and one entrée, and that should definitely be the lamb chop. I thought the pappadum and aloo chaat were great. The tandoori masala lamb chop (add on) was fire. I just thought everything was average. It was borderline too salty for my taste. This includes the kid goat keema, chicken butter masala, and venison biryani. I was expecting more flavor from the biryani honestly. The saag makai and dal were much more palatable. I would approach with caution but you're probably visiting, want Indian food, and they have Michelin stars, so you can't help yourself. I get it. Solid place but you'll find me there for a cocktail and for lunch off the à la carte menu.

I feel like all my friends who've been to London have come back talking about this place, and I'm happy to join their ranks. Dishoom was also one of a handful of dining options recommended by my hotel concierge for a party of 11, including kids. Booking was easy, via SevenRooms, no phone calls or emails necessary. It's a large restaurant, and part of a popular chain--I guess they have things figured out. The space was great, open and casual, exposed ceilings and eclectic decor. Lots of fans, which my three-year-old appreciated. Service was friendly and attentive. I started my lunch with a drink, a refreshing green India Gimlet, gin and Rose's lime with celery bitters and fresh dill. I also tried and liked a sip of the New Permit Room Old-Fashioned, a slightly sweet cocktail with coconut-washed bourbon, Pedo Ximénez sherry, and Medjool date liqueur. There was only one menu available for a party of our size, a pre-set family-style group feast for eight adults, to which we added a pre-ordered platter of lamb chops. I loved the variety of dishes that came with this meal, and every one of them was ridiculously delicious. (There was less available for the three small American children, but they loaded up on hotel breakfast and snacked on naan and colorful puffed crackers.) The first round brought trays loaded with keema pau, okra fries, and bhel, along with lime, cilantro, and sauces for serving. The keema pau was incredible, probably my favorite dish of our lunch, if in part because it was 100% new to me. It was a spicy, aromatic blend of minced lamb and peas with dill and lindi pepper, served with toasted, buttered buns to make little sliders. So much flavor, it almost explained, by itself, why the British could never leave India alone. The okra fries were warm and crispy, and I loved the bhel, a crunchy snack of puffed rice, peanuts, and Bombay Mix tossed with pomegranate, tomato, onion, lime, tamarind, and mint. The main course was another giant spread: chicken ruby, house black daal, awadhi jackfruit biryani, and chilled broccoli salad, plus our charred lamb chops, with sides of roti, naan, and raita. The chicken ruby was the highlight here, a fragrant, comforting curry with tender chicken in a buttery makhani sauce. The house black daal is a Dishoom signature, and it was lovely, cooked for over 24 hours. The biryani was fluffy and nice, studded with jackfruit, barberries, and sultanas. The broccoli salad was a fresh hit of green, enhanced with pistachio, mint, red chillies, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, dates, and lime. The lamb chops made for a hearty entrée with a lot of flavor, the lamb marinated, grilled, and finished with Kashmiri chilli sauce. The thin, griddled roomali roti and the fresh-baked naan were both great accompaniments, as was the minty, cucumbery raita. For dessert, we had a choice of kulfi, creamy ice pops available in mango, pistachio, or malai, the original flavor touched with caramel. All three were superb, so cold and milk, easy to throw down the hatch. This was, it turned out, an enormous feast, but everything was so delicious and well balanced that I didn't notice how much I was eating until I got up. I was still full several hours later, when we went to dinner. If you want to eat Indian food in London, you should definitely find your nearest Dishoom.
