My 3rd time on their tour, and with the $2.50 special, I couldn't miss out. The tour is very informative, begins with a cocktail and ends with a tasting as shown in the pics. You get to see it all as you walk through the facilities from cooking the mash to bottling. Tours differ slightly with each tour guide, but show up curious and ready to enjoy. Outside of the tour, check out the shop for some neat gifts or additions to your bar. Also, check out the bar area for some well mixed whiskey cocktails and more. I got to enjoy the Blue Angels show from outside on the lawn. Look out for their summer and fall Whiskey on the Water event too! Signed up for a cocktail class with a group of friends, and it was super fun! Very different and interesting to learn the techniques and ins/outs of cocktail making. The class is about 1 hour long and you make 2 cocktails that feature their drinks. The staff is super welcoming and excited to help you learn. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. Everything that is used as a mixer or addition to the drink is made in house. Super tasty. We made a tea based drink and then another one (see photos). Both were good. It was nice to have every single detail thought out and ready. The room where you are taking the class is very comfortable and has terrific views. We sat out on their lawn that is waterfront when we were done. Super nice area. They do have a bar that is on the premises as well. There was an outdoor bar, but it wasn't open when we were there (beginning of May). This would be a super fun place to come for lunch or just to hang out on the grassy area and watch the scenery. Booked a tour for a Saturday for four of us the afternoon before and there was plenty of availability. Jon was our tour guide. He was knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions! The tour was informative and included a tasting at the end. After the tour we popped into 1909 Bar for another a drink and to try a Rye that was not part of the tasting. The bar is a lot smaller than the gift shop and can sometimes be closed for private events. Plenty of selection of items in the gift shop available for purchase. Having Sagamore's distillery nearby is very fun! I recently came back again for their 8 year anniversary and took their mixology class with a friend. It was my 2nd time taking a class. The first time I had also gotten a tour which was neat. Their store inside is clean and nicely laid out. The staff are friendly and personable. It was fun to take the mixology class again. Had a great one hour tour of the distillery for 22 bucks on a Friday at noon in mid May. The four of us ended up getting a private tour as there were no other patrons. Our guide, Leah was terrific. She really knew her stuff and I asked her a lot of questions about their operation...she explained that the guides all have to be trained by actually doing the various jobs they have on site. Leah started our tour off with a small, refreshing rye cocktail! Nice touch. Unfortunately, we missed their bottling shift by about 10 minutes and I really wish we'd seen the line running. The tour finished off in their tasting room and we.were able to taste 4 different ryes, including their high end Manhattan finish. So . . . long story short . . . or maybe still long. I primarily consider myself a craft beer/mexzal drinker but lately I've been on a whiskey kick (primarily bourbon). Earlier in the year I toured a few distilleries in Kentucky and oh boy were my eyes opened. I found the history fascinating and even visited a bourbon museum in Bardstown. I purchased several bottles on this trip and a few more since. It turns out that I enjoy the taste . . . unlike how I remember it from the cheap whiskey shots I tried in my 20s. Last week, out of curiosity, I checked Yelp for nearby whiskey distilleries and was surprised to find Sagamore Spirit a mere 24 minutes from my house. There are a couple smaller places around that I'll check out but Sagamore called out to me this day. Following Maryland history and tradition Sagamore is a rye whiskey distillery. Upon arrival for my tour I was handed one of their premixed cocktails . . . Fantastic! I took a noon tour on a cold snowy Sunday and was the only one on the tour, which was great (but I'm sure unusual). My tour guide Paige (pretty sure her name was Paige) was great. I'm not going into too much detail here so I don't give you any misremembered facts. I learned all about the history of Maryland distilleries and their distilling process. Some of the equipment had cute "easy to remember names." (I want to say Kettle Dee and Kettle Dumb . . . . please don't quote me on that.) Then we got to the tasting. All were good. Rye is a little spicier to me than bourbon so I was surprised that my favorite was the cask strength. I definitely picked up a bottle at the gift shop (along with other things) before I left. This should definitely be on your "Things You Must Do In Baltimore" list! I know it's on my "Things To Do Again" list. read more

Incredible experience! My bestfriend & sister decided to check out the brunch cocktail class at 10am. The tickets were a reasonable $30 for two drinks. Parking was free for about two hours, which was just enough time for us to eat and grab brunch next door at Rye Street. The location is absolutely stunning with waterfront views. Mike, our whiskey professor was amazing. We were half sleep arriving at 10am, and he made sure to keep us engaged throughout the experience. He was able to thoroughly explain all of the history, creation, and distilling process of Sagamore's rye whiskey. Class was hands on, and were were able to add as much or as little ingredients as we desired. The "seelbach" whiskey mimosa was fantastic, and I loved that we used non alcoholic champagne so we wouldn't lose the whiskey finish. The whiskey cold brew was actually my favorite. The maple syrup was made in house, and it was interesting that we added orange liqueur to pull out those whiskey notes. After class, we were able to take our drinks down to the outdoor patio to enjoy the views of the Baltimore harbor. This was such a fun experience that I highly recommend! read more

The tour started with a luscious cocktail in their well-stocked gift shop. The tour was amazing! Kevin, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable, taking us through the whole process of fermenting to bottling (and with a great sense of humor). Wanted to try the 9-year and the cask strength ryes, so went to the bar and the bartender was super and explained all of the tasting notes. Great experience! Bought a new ball cap and the 9-year rye. I hosted a group of friends for their annual holiday lighting festival. It was raining all day but so blessed that the rain tapered off as this event started. There were about six food trucks there ranging from fresh oysters to a nacho bar. There were also vendors selling beer as well as promoting their restaurant and offering cake pops to dip. I've done the tour if you times before so did not sign up for this one although the ladies who did said they enjoyed it however most couldn't finish the whiskey samplings at the end with some being over 100 proof. I grabbed there tomorrow after sampling it and it coming highly recommended by a staff member during a recent visit and have been mixing it with apple cider to celebrate the season. It pairs extremely well. We were given samples of their doppelbock find extremely joyous staffer who so passionately described how it was created. It took the "Christmas Tree" three countdowns before it decided to light and it was definitely worth it. I love the faux snow and the whimsical scenery it created with the lit barrels. read more

We went to tour the distillery and didn't have high expectations, however, we were pleasantly surprised that tour was exceptional. Luckily, we had Andrew as our tour guide who was incredibly knowledgeable and personable. Seeing the vessels that they use to make a variety of whiskies was awesome with the yeast causing the liquid to bubble and give off heat. You are really in a facility that makes spirits!! You even get to see the wooden oak barrels in the bottling room where there is a conveyor belt to fill and label the bottles. After the tour of the distillery, you are brought into a lovely tasting room. Andrew is an enthusiastic whiskey teacher who taught us how to really have the full experience of tasting whiskies. I would definitely go back if more company comes to visit us in Baltimore. You will not be disappointed. read more

This was my first time visiting the distillery and I had a blast! My friend and I completed a tour and whiskey tasting. I learned so much about the making of rye whiskey and it's beautiful, deep history in Maryland. So if you love Maryland, this is the tour for you! It was easy to find parking, there is a large parking lot adjacent to the property. It was a little hard to find the front entrance due to construction, but we eventually found the front entrance. The tour started on time and it was approximately 45-60 minutes. The tour guide is energetic, informative, and Maryland spirited, which I loved! This tour gave me a deep appreciation of Maryland's history and the mission of Sagamore to bring back Rye Whiskey to many people's attention, because heck it's been around longer than Kentucky Burbon (which I also love). At the end of the tour, we had a guided tasting. Overall I had a great experience, I do wish there were more snacks available at the bar to eat so that we have some food after having strong whiskey. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, but I did not appreciate a staff member's "joke" about driving home while under some influence of whiskey, that is certainly not a good look! Such commentary takes away from the inclusive, safe experience of whiskey tasting. I would highly recommend the tour to anyone interested in a whiskey tasting, especially Maryland enthusiasts! But make time aside to just rest after the tour to explore the town or watch the pretty sailboats float in the backyard of Sagamore. read more

We visited this facility while in Baltimore from Tampa. It's in a beautiful location on the water. It was a Sunday and very crowded at the tavern. We were doing the distillery tour but had time before to have a drink. We tried to get a drink at two bars located within the tavern. We could NOT get any service at the bars. No one would greet us or take our order. So we left and waited for our tour. We did however have an excellent experience inside the gift shop and tour. Mike was our guide for the tour. We really loved the tour of the Sagamore Distillery! Our tour guide was Lars and he was very funny and knowledgeable and made the tour very engaging. The distillery itself is top notch and really looks still new even though they opened in 2017. Everyone that worked there was very friendly and welcoming! The tasting was obviously great- we really loved being able to taste some of the special casked spirits that you can't get in the stores. I do wish they had an option to buy snacks or offered something with the tasting- we were on an empty stomach and probably would've stayed and hung out at the bar longer if there was something to combat the alcohol! The bar was really beautiful and the mixologist was fantastic. We tried a flight of rye's that you could no longer purchase and we had the espresso ryetini and the sidecar- all delicious! The grounds themselves are really nice- it was great to sit out on the patio overlooking the water. It looks like a new restaurant (word on the street it's owned by the Clyde's group) right next door which I bet will bring a lot more business to both the bar and the distillery itself (and then people can eat something when they're drinking!). We look forward to checking out the Whisky on the Water events and having future visits to the distillery to purchase those special bottles! read more

The facilities and location are beautiful. Our tour guide Jake was fun, entertaining, and very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the process of whiskey making from its early beginnings to its present day process. We even learned what happens to the not so perfect batches. The tasting room is beautiful and located next to the onsite bar and a few steps to the store where you can purchase a few bottles to take home with you. The whiskey gets stronger with each sample but I enjoyed the process. LOL! Nextdoor is the Rye Street Tavern which has bites to eat and outdoor space to relax, sip on your beverage of choice while enjoying the views of the Patapsco River. They were not open when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon at 3PM which was fine because we had just come from having a fulfilling lunch 25 minutes away. read more
