We entered shortly after 4 PM, which is when they open. There was no one downstairs when we entered, so we walked upstairs. When we walked upstairs, we asked the man at the bar if we could be seated because there was no one downstairs. He looked a bit flustered at first, but still ended up seating us in the same spot. I sat before near the window, which is exactly what I wanted. He immediately brought us ice, water and menus. He pointed to the specials on the menu, and gave us some time to look. We were the only people in the restaurant. Within a few minutes, he came and took our orders. Then, we waited.... For like 25 or so minutes... for the appetizer. And honestly, when they brought the duck rolls out, I was super disappointed. These were not the duck rolls I remember. These were tiny, underfilled, mostly full of the wrapper themselves, and lacking flavor. Additionally, when I placed my initial order, I asked for all of the condiments/sauces to be brought out. I asked the server again when the rolls came out, and he didn't bring them out until I asked a third time when the entrées came out. When the entrées did come out (ga tiem and crab fried rice), they left a lot to be desired. Ga tiem: bland. And to make it so bad, the vegetables served with it, were not cooked in the sauce as they normally are. They were served on the side and we're not cooked all the way. I can't really eat broccoli, so I swapped it for green beans, but I could pretty much snap the green beans in half because they were still so undercooked. Crabmeat fried rice: the fact that they cut up like three full scallion stems, barely cooked them, and tucked them under/at the base of the rice is crazy. They weren't even cooked long enough to release flavor. Also, to be in Baltimore, the amount of crab was a little embarrassing. Definitely should have been more. Overall, the rice wasn't very flavorful. Thai tea: good! Not too sweet, not too milky. You want to know what really made me mad? I asked for soy sauce, and they brought those super cheap packages that just look like black water that the cheap Chinese restaurants provide you when you get carry out. Those packets literally taste like nothing. I have been to very few Asian restaurants in my life that provide that type of soy sauce, especially when you dine in. It doesn't taste like soy sauce at all. I was incredibly disappointed. And considering the fact that I had to ask for these sauces three times, I was even more disappointed. We spent about $62 on the items above. Would I say I got my moneys worth? No would I say that I enjoyed this visit as much as I enjoyed the last? Absolutely not.

Given my experience with DC and other parts of MD, I was determined to contact them ahead of time and make sure I would have a spot for brunch. But after some contact on IG, they said it's just walk-ins and I would most likely get a table with no effort or wait. I was concerned... but they were right! So we got settled immediately and started ordering. Our gracious server asked for drinks, which have a bottomless option during brunch. We could pick from mimosas, crushes, sangria and bloody marys. I tried everything but the bloody marys, and while they were good, whew there was a lot of ice in the mimosa... I'm not used to ice there, so it threw me off but it was still good! The REAL highlight was the food... the item I got changed my life: Crab. Cake. Eggrolls. They came with this amazing sweet chili sauce and were so filling and delicious! I also got chicken & waffle sliders to go that had a nice kick and the waffle texture was great! My cousin enjoyed his food as well. Also, shout out to the bagel wall that's on the way to the bathroom. It had great options and all the fixings! If I wasn't full I would've gotten one myself. I will return here for brunch.

I absolutely loved everything about my visit to Yard!…read more I ordered the curry shrimp meal, Brussels sprouts, and jerk wings, and every single item was a 10/10. The flavors were bold, perfectly seasoned, and just overall chef's kiss. The Brussels sprouts especially stood out--I'm already thinking about going back just for those alone! I also tried a beef patty, which was really good and a nice addition to the meal. Everything was so good that I'm already planning my next visit. I've got my eye on the Rasta pasta next time!

But my experience as a whole was a good one. First I'll start with the Service, the staff and the owner were great honestly. They were kind and very hospitable. The restaurant itself has a cool set up. The dining area is smaller and more intimate with great lighting, however the back lounge area is a lot larger and there is outdoor seating. So it perfect if you want to eat and then hold a vibe later on. You can do it all in one place. And it's BYOB which is great. Now let's get to the food. For an appetizer we ordered the Scotch kissed Brussels which were delicious. For my entree, I ordered the curry goat. The goat meat was good very well to my surprise, however (and it could've been because it was later in the evening) the bone to goat meat ratio could've been a lot better. I don't want to have to pick apart my meal just to find the goat meat. But because it was good I'll give them a pass. The steamed cabbage and plantain were also very good. The plate would've been nearly perfect and my rice & peas was not undercooked. And it was incredibly bland. It would've also been nice to have the option to swap for white rice. I love rice & peas (when cooked right) but I prefer white rice with my curry goat specifically. Next was the fried red snapper (escovitch). While I did love the presentation, and the fish was cooked well, it was devastatingly bland and the escovitch was not escovitch. It was a tiny garnish of sauteed veggies. I need spicy pickled veggies on my snapper. So you know, there were some winners and some losers but I was intrigued by the full menu and will definitely be returning to try more food. Also the portions are massive, I barely put a dent in my curry goat. I could legit make 3 days worth of meal prep out of one order. So that's a bonus as well.
