Lack of concern for the patient is palpable here. I was forced to come here because I signed up for "insurance" through work and apparently it was an HMO and they put this dentist on me. I had already been seeing a dentist and oral surgeon. But to get the OS tooth extraction cost covered with this new HMO, I had to have a referral and it HAD to be from the dentist on file. I get there about 5 min late. That's on me, but after making me wait to even be spoken to, because she was on the phone, she made me wait longer to ask the dentist if he would fill out my referral. She came back and said I still had to be seen which I was ok with- except I couldn't be seen she said because it was now 20 min into my appointment and some new patient forms were not filled out. I guess their texts were coming across as spam. I didn't see them. And since it was 20 min into it I would be cutting into someone's lunch. I could have had the paperwork done in a minute or 2. I work fast. And I simply needed that dentist to sign this form I had so the oral surgeon I needed to see Friday to remove a molar could be covered. NOW I will have to pay $400 for that. All because the dentist could not be bothered to speak with me and see that I didn't need more than a few minutes of his time. I was not looking for a new dentist. I just needed to wade through the bureaucratic BS paperwork the HMO was putting on me. The hoops they are making me jump through. And no one there gave a crap about me. Thanks a lot. I do not recommend this office or this doctor. They do not care. read more

Multiple issues at this practice. More than once they cheated me out of doctor's exams even though they were told my plan includes 2 doctors exams a year. Most other practices include the exam standard with every visit but not here. They only want to do every other visit. Lots of upselling of products or services making you think your dental health is very poor. Recently I got assigned to a very lazy hygienist who insisted on leaving the suction wand in my mouth the entire time instead of only putting it in when needed. Well this made me gag and when I said I couldn't take it sitting in my mouth she made me hold it and do it myself the whole cleaning. In my entire life of going to the dentist I've never had a hygienist do this. On my most recent and last visit my teeth were not polished and she didn't say a word until I asked and she claimed they were out of polish. I called the office manager the next day and they were unable to confirm whether or not they were actually out of polish but said I could come back at a later time if I wanted the polish. Why should I have to waste more time to do that when I was supposed to receive it at the original visit? This is just a low level chain office where the patient experience is mediocre at best. I have now switched to a privately owned practice with one doctor. read more

Place was nice and the people were kind until I got a bill of $140 from them, first time I went there they told me I have to pay $100 evaluation fee but my insurance only covers that once every 5 years, but the lady at the front desk told me she would waive the $100 and get my deep cleaning done. They went ahead and presented the $100 to the insurance and of course it was denied. I tried talking to the office manager but was rude and he said there are no notes about the $100 and I have to pay it, they won't see you if you don't pay the evaluation fee and I already got my cleaning done. At the end be careful, they will overcharge the insurance and you get to pay what the insurance denies. read more

Staff were very un-professional, and they really need to educate their staff. asking personal questions and making fun each other. Hygienist is pairing with staff and making fun of patients etc. They really did pair each and making fun and laughing of the patients (I was the victim). Not sure, why Sage dental or doctors are not educating their staff about work ethic. I felt extremely disappointed and discouraged. I want to start off by saying that this poor review has nothing to do with the customer service. Unfortunately, I have had to transfer out of this office due to the office rescheduling my visits twice. I've only been a patient of theirs for a year... The initial exam was fine, but the second cleaning was rescheduled without notice, and then the third exam was cancelled due to staffing issues. The issue wasn't being rescheduled, it was being pushed out from September into December. It's a 6 month cleaning, why would I want to be pushed out 2 months? I believe they should have some flexibility in place for situations like this. I wouldn't recommend this dentistry. read more

the "dentist" stuck a tool in my mouth for ~30 seconds, told me i had no cavities & my teeth looked great, then left. the "hygienist" poked at my gums & told me i had periodontal disease & that i needed deep cleaning... turns out this didn't include teeth cleaning, as she stated "i work with the gums, not the teeth." i asked about getting my teeth cleaned (at the dentist) like 5 times & my question was brushed off. instead my dumbass paid ~$600 to get my gums sawed into for 30 minutes. then i was told i wasn't ~eligible~ for teeth cleaning (at the dentist). i was naive, the "hygienist" scared me into thinking i was gonna lose all my teeth. learn from my mistakes, stay away from this place. also, the "office manager" conveniently forgot to mention that the costs he explained to me were for each side of my mouth (who the actual fuck gets just one side of their mouth cleaned??? well GUMS because i guess dental services do not include teeth cleaning). nobody had name tags on so idk if any of these people even have any sort of credentials. i'd let hank hill work on my mouth before any of these dumb fucks. read more

So, I was here at Midtown for the second time. The second experience was even better that the first. The doctor's work is awesome, his assistant was very young but with lots of talent. Soft spoken, very polite and with an amazing hand. I had 2 broken molars, 1 upper left deep-filling with a craked/missing corner, and lower right cracked corner also, they grinded all down, made molds for the lab and at the same time made up temp caps, this little girl (with all due respect) she took the time to even match the color of the temp caps, she polished them down, curved them right for an exact fit. So disgusting and sad that this office sold out to the highest bidder. We have driven here pretty much since Dr Sonbol started his practice even though it's a 3 hour round trip. The reason was because a previous chain similar to Sage Dental totally messed up my mouth causing me to lose a couple teeth. I remember talking to Dr Sonbol and his compassion and empathy to where it was worth the drive. Now my husband needed to see him because his tooth is chipped. We have the same insurance. An insurance we kept just to continue going to Mid Town Dental. We get a call an hour before they closed ...going to another family members phone so by the time we knew it was too late to even speak to someone. The message stated there's now a problem with our insurance. Of course mid town dentistry / Dr Sonbol has all our current X-rays etc. Now my poor husband has to scramble tomorrow on a Friday to find a different dentist as a new patient. I'm just so sad because I believed he cared. I believed he was different. I never would have thought he would put selling out above his patients. It's already started. Look at the reviews. I'm so disgusted that the sane dentist that personally answered the office phone years ago and listened with empathy as I cried into the phone about losing 2 teeth ...now is like this. BE CAREFUL!!! They try to charge you for things you shouldn't pay for because they don't know how to check insurance properly. The girl they had left them, and the office manager didn't do her job properly and file claims when they were supposed to be filed. They do dental work without checking if your insurance covers it. They are crooks. Because they didn't do their job correctly, they are leaving me in braces that are supposed to be taken off Saturday and telling me I would have to pay $1,700 to get them off when my insurance covers it and THEY screwed up. Since relocating to the Maitland area it was hard for me to find a dentist partly because I'm so picky because I've had the same dentist for 20 years. I can across MMD because it accepted my insurance, I looked at 10 different dental offices on Yelp and decided on MMD. I am so happy that I went to them! Today was my first visit and I went for a teeth cleaning and the dental hygienist, Kathy, was wonderful! She was so gentle and explained everything to me and it made me feel very comfortable. Also, when the dentist came in to check on me at the end he also made me feel at ease because he also explained the process to me to ensure that I fully understood. I found my new dentist office and I couldn't be more excited because they are great. If you're someone who dreads going to the dentist or had a bad prior experience with a dentist then you should go to MMD because they will take great care of you. read more

I had been looking for a dentist since my husband and I moved to Maitland 3 years ago. Trying 3 different dentists. Then I lost a crown and needed a new one. Looked at a lot of reviews and found Dr Sonbol. He replaced my crown in one visit. It was nearly painless except for a brief second or 2 for the novacaine. The crown is great. I love this dentist office, I never really have to wait, they get me in and out,and the staff is great.

I came in needing some relief for a tooth that had been on and off painful for a long time, I thought it needed a root canal but the dentist strongly recommended an onlay so I went with that. The onlay failed and a day or two later I was left in a great deal of pain so I had to schedule another appointment to get the root canal, which to their credit they scheduled quickly but it was an awful experience and a huge extra expense. I figured that was the end of it but after visiting a different dentist, the tooth with the root canal/onlay is decaying and will break soon if a crown isn't put on it so that's even more expense and hassle that could have been avoided if it was handled properly the first time. read more

I had a pleasant experience at Midtown. The office staff is very friendly and warm, from the receptionist to the hygienist. My appointment went a little long, but it was fine for me, since it was my first visit, it gave me a chance to get to know the staff and the inner workings of the office, and Dr. Sonbol addressed my dental concerns on the spot. The hygienist was fantastic and Dr. Sonbol took time to draw a picture explaining the answer to my question. He is very relaxed, though, so if you're looking for formality... The office is new and modern with high tech looking equipment. For ex, your X-rays are presented on a flat screen monitor that you can view from the dental chair. I think I got an honest evaluation (yes, I still need to floss more--I hear that every time I go to the dentist) and excellent service. I look forward to my next cleaning. read more

Great service, they got me in for a wisdom tooth removal the next day first thing in the morning. The procedure itself was quick and painless, much better then the previous wisdom tooth removal I had done somewhere else. I was healed and feeling 100% by the next day with no lingering pain. On April 21, 5 days ago to be exact, this visit was not easy for me. After parking I was incredibly anxious and stayed in my vehicle for another 10 minutes. I had to replay in my head the reassuring conversation I had with Dr. Sonbal prior to this appointment has eased my worries. I googled and searched many dentist, asked for recommendations from friends and read reviews. I then narrowed it down to this clinic and made a call and left a message. A few minutes later I got a call back from Dr. Sonbol who introduced himself and I began telling him what I was looking for. He indicated that the clinic was closed that day and he would have Christina call me back the following day. True to his word she did call and set my appointment. Despite my apprehension, I walked in a clean, calming, and the most aesthetic clinic I have ever been. It didn't have that smell so typical in a medical or dental environment. I had fear of dentist because of what I have experienced from dental procedures at a very young age and the humiliation as an adult and what I have been through in a dental environment. This affected me in many personal aspects of my adult life. I have divulged this unpleasant times to Dr. Sonbol, to Kathy his very gentle dental hygienist and Deata who listened to me and it helped trumped my anxiety. Dr. Sonbol listened to my concerns and didn't feel rushed. He answered all my questions concerning insurance coverage and my options. My conversation was easy and knew then he is trustworthy. Listening is crucial to have a patient's concerns acknowledge and understood and he did that. A lot of practitioners only hears.
