Alright sooo, this place is likely the worst Indian food that I've ever had (and also poor service). This was my last dinner in Syracuse before left the next morning (work trip) and was I disappointed... Off the bat, it took 5+ minutes for someone to come seat me, even though the "restaurant" was empty, save for one table. I got seated in the corner, which I don't mind, but it definitely felt weird considering all the other, more comfortable seating choices available. After what seemed like forever, I was able to order the Chicken Biryani, pretty standard Indian fare, and mango lassi. After another considerable wait, I received my "biryani" and lassi. Starting off with the positives: the lassi tasted like a lassi. The negatives: the biryani felt like it was made earlier and put in the microwave...gross. The rice on top was warm and the inside were cold. The chicken was rubbery and inedible. I attempted to eat the rice, which strongly tasted of cumin and pepper and nothing else, but could not keep going. Needless to say, I didn't need a box. Overall, food 0/5, service 1.5/5, ambiance 2/5. If you want any kind of decent tasting food, look elsewhere! read more

Unfortunately, I cannot give Sahota palace a rave review. My wife and I recently visited for lunch and were really disappointed. We are new to Indian food and weren't sure what to expect, so we tried Sahota Palace on the recommendation of a few friends. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived and we were greeted and seated right away, the gentleman serving us was pleasant and welcoming. The place was clean and nicely decorated. We tried several chicken items from the menu, and while the good well seasoned and tasted okay, it was dry and seemed like it had been cooked a day or two earlier and simply reheated when we ordered. Also, we didn't receive the rice that was supposed to be served with out meals eventhough we reminded the waiter. I'd like to think that it was just a one off bad experience and I will most likely give Sahota another try at another time. read more

I ordered the chicken biryani, extra spicy. A star for the chicken, rice & spice, but since there were no cashews or sultanas, they don't get those stars. Their Naan was a bit dry & overcooked. & not very garlicy at all. Their raita is very runny. Like they forgot to get the water out of the cucumber first. Their Mango lassi was also watered down. While the spice was great & very nice to find from an americanized establishment, a biryani missing half the ingredients can't be excused. We ordered takeout yesterday and this place was pretty good! We ordered the chicken biryani, chicken tikka, and chicken jal farezi! We enjoyed all three dishes. We love Indian food but this was our first time trying the chicken jal farezi. The chicken jal farezi is in a red sauce and looks intimidating but it's actually fairly sweet and not very spicy at all! We look forward to coming back again! read more

If you really want to serve people authentic food, don't mix meat and rice and call it biryani when the customer can clearly tell from the taste that it's plain left over meat mixed with pulao rice. Mixed grill meat smelled and tasted old. Is there any honesty left in the world? We paid $50.54 to get this mean to feed our kids from a long trip and everyone went to sleep hungry because this was the meal we could afford. This is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the area. They offer a lunch buffet most days of the week and a dinner buffet Sundays. A great way to try different dishes, especially if you are not familiar with Indian food. Their dishes are very flavorful and I love the chicken chili and mango chicken in particular. They seem to always offer salad, different sauces and chutneys, basmati rice, naan, chicken dishes, a couple vegetarian options, fried pakoras and samosas, golub jamen, and kheer. I have found that Syracuse Indian buffets tend to be more on the medium spice side vs. the Albany area which I would categorize as mild. I think serving mild at a buffet is probably a safer idea if you want to introduce people to your cuisine. The place is nestled in an older plaza. Bathroom is down a darkish hallway and is dark and outdated. There is a tv in the dining area that plays Indian music videos. Today the sound was pretty loud. Some of the videos are not that appropriate for young children. I wish they had it off and just had some music playing. Would make for a nicer dining experience. read more

We ordered Lamb Byriani, Bhindi Masala, Malai Kofta and Peshwari Naan Considering that Liverpool & Syracuse is not blessed with many Indian food places, this is definitely one of the best options. Tried this place with my brother, he forewarned don't judge on appearance. On my own I'd probably have gone elsewhere, but the food was above average. For appetizers we shared paneer pakora and papadum (1st time I've seen a restaurant charge for papadum). Together these were $5. Served with sides of chutney. The flavor was average, the papadum wasn't overly strong in flavor and the paneer was very mild amidst lacking in flavor. For entree I enjoyed the lamb Rogan Josh. This was above average in flavor and well worth the $14.95. I requested medium and they spices it perfectly. We finished with a bowl of kheer, $2.95. The flavor was every bit of what I wanted and expected, but interestingly there were little frozen balls of kheer in the bowl. I am giving it 3* instead of 2* based on an opinion this place likely has been greatly effected by COVID and is still figuring their way through the Grubhub / Door Dash world. What I cannot excuse though is the lack of service. There were only three tables and the service was awful. But sure what kept the man's attention from the three seated tables but should be no reason to not check on tables regularly especially when there are only three seats parties. Best Indian food in the Syracuse area. Been there many times, and have not been disappointed with their food. If you're not sure what exactly you want, the staff is helpful to pick which items suit your cravings and at what spice level. Only criticism would be the look of the dining area, though I've only done takeout. And expect 45-60 minute wait when placing a take out order. read more

The food is good here but the problem is when you dine in it takes forever to get your order even when you're the only people in the place. Also when you have a pick up order. I'm standing here now and I was told 1 hour ago my food would be ready for pick up in 20 minutes, finally got my food after 1 hour and 15 minutes after the initial call..... fast forward the 35 minute drive home. I open the bag to start dishing out to my family and it is the completely wrong order. Not a single dish was correct. I ordered 2 shrimp masala and a chicken Biryani. It was not busy- there were maybe 4 other tables besides us. We were seated promptly and asked if we wanted buffet. We asked for menus...and that was it. About 10 minutes later we still had no menus, my husband was staring the server down and he finally brought them out. Another 10 minutes, he came back and took our order. We had onion kulcha, paneer mahini and palak paneer. It took another 25 minutes for our food to come out - the entire time, our server never came over to see us or refill our water. Complete Scam. I ordered a chicken biryani which was supposed to apparently have a 'touch of saffron' 'nuts and raisin'. It has none of that and instead i got rice mixed with chicken in some weird gravy (See Picture). NO resemblance to an actual fragrant biryani. There NO sides like yogurt sauce, cutlery or napkins. Awesome Indian buffet! My husband and I are regulars for the Friday night buffet (buffet is everyday for lunch plus Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights). The buffet offers a great variety and is different from week to week with a few stand-bys such as Chicken Tikka Marsala that are always there. The only complaint that I have is that they are sometimes a little slow bringing water but that's gotten better over the past few visits. We go at least once a month if not more! read more

I think this is the best Indian in the Syracuse metro area. If you're looking for rich, savory, satisfying Indian food, go here. LOVE their vegetable pakora and chicken makhani - but really you can't go wrong with their buffets, offered for lunch seven days a week, and for dinner Fri-Sun. The food, on the other hand was quite warm and so very tasty! The buffet has quite a few options, all very traditional and delicious. If you decide to order off the menu; the dishes are quite affordable and sizable in portions. I would suggest the Makihini Paneer; it's not too spicy, but it's bursting with flavor! As I've continued to visit, I've gotten to know the people that work here. The servers may seem quiet at first, but they are quite friendly and very attentive once you get to know them.
