First of all, I had never even heard of this place, or knew it existed until a friend wanted to go for her birthday. So a group of us went here on a Saturday night to see why she was raving about it. First of all, the service was fantastic. The young man who waited on our table (our group was a bit larger than the table should have accommodated) kept coming back to remove empty dishes, refill water, and make sure everything was great. We ordered a LOT of food and everything came out roughly the same time give or take a minute here or there, and everything was fresh, and delicious. Our group ordered a bit of everything and no one had a single complaint. People said it was the best pho they've ever had. The vermicelli bowl looked amazing. We had an off menu appetizer that our friend knew about it, and we had multiple banh mi. I had the Saigon Special Banh Mi. Nothing looked appetizing about it on the menu. It had pork bologna and some other things... but it was the special, so I had to try it. First of all, according to our friend, this was a traditional banh mi .... And it was amazing. The bread was perfect. The ingredients were perfect. Everything was balanced. It was just fantastic. Honestly this is a hidden gem, in a parking lot that hides the identities of all the businesses inside as you can't see anything from the road. I'd have to say I am QUITE happy with this place. The music wa loud and they had no issues turning it down. The waiter was a young lady who was quite tentative. As someone who always made homemade pho but never actually had it made by someone else it was quite warming to know I've been making it correctly. Food was comforting and delicious. This place was decent. The positives: spacious, clean environment. Nice simple decor. Touch screens available for take out orders. Portions of meat in the pho were generous and high quality. Grilled pork spring rolls were delicious! The negatives: for my preference, the broth had very strong clove & anise flavors. I prefer a beefier flavor profile. Was a tad bit pricey compared to other pho places in the greater Reading area. Also, the tapioca pearls in my taro milk were slightly undercooked (drink was yummy though!) Would love to see a kids size portion of pho added to the menu as a full sized bowl was huge even for pho loving kiddos! Would probably return with a few changes to our order! read more

I came here with my parents at the end of November for lunch on a cold day. I ordered a chicken com tam, and my parents ordered a vegetarian tofu pho. I really enjoyed my dish and finished every last grain of rice. The chicken was plentiful, juicy, and had very nice proportions. The fish sauce was sweet and not too fishy--just how I like it. My parents' dish, however, were not as favorable. Their vegetarian broth was so plain, it was basically slightly flavored water. Also, their dish had a big lump of tofu, another minus point. It was be a nice experience to have bite-sized tofu. I don't recall their feedback on the vegetables within their pho, but all I know is that they didn't have positive remarks. It's not that unusual to come across subpar vegetarian pho; we have yet to find our favorite place for vegetarian pho in PA. As a meat eater, I would be open to trying this place again; but unless there are changes to the vegetarian pho, I don't think my parents will be back. Good service and nice ambiance. read more

If it weren't for the delicious fruit drink, I would have had to rate lower. While they say they have a variety of options, the menu (in my opinion) is small. It's weird because the plates come a certain way with certain meats, so for example if you want chicken instead of pork on one of the rice plates, but you want it to come with everything the pork plate comes with, you have to pay extra for it?--as if you cant just pick what type of plate you want and then select the meat you want. Good way to make extra money on people for sure. While the service was nice, the food itself was not that great. The meat was seasonless and dry, the rice portion was small, and the egg quiche was tiny, dry, and also seasonless. There is basically no appetizer menu... you get to pick from a cold type egg roll (not fried) or a fried egg roll... how boring! The restaurant itself is nice to eat in at. There are booths and tables. My friend mentioned her food was bland too, she got the pho (soup). If you're looking for a great variety of tasty food, don't come to Saigon Banh Mi. Do yourself a favor and make food at home. I appreciate their effort with promoting the restaurant and having it advertised on Facebook and Instagram... but the food itself is subpar. The drinks are pretty tasty, so if you live in the area and are craving a bubble tea... stop on in, otherwise, keep it moving. I'm sorry to be so blunt here, but I was not satisfied. Disappointing Visit: Slow Service and Bland Food We rarely write reviews, but our visit last week was disappointing enough to warrant feedback. Though the restaurant was not busy, service from our server, Ly Ly, was extremely slow. We felt rushed when ordering even though the place is new and we were tying to see everything the new menu offered. When the food finally arrived, the quality was poor and the eggrolls were cold and flavorless. The pho broth was equally disappointing--it tasted like basic stock with no added seasonings. The meat for the Banh MI and the Broken Rice was also cut too thick and made it difficult to eat. When my wife and I requested extra sauce, Ly Ly brought just ONE small container for us to share . We were not checked on again until the bill arrived. We sincerely hope management addresses the slow service, inadequate condiment portions, and overall food quality. read more

Service was friendly and quick. Very impressed with how clean the restaurant is, modern and bright. We started off with Vietnamese egg rolls, which were excellent. Lightly crisp on the outside with a very flavorful pork filling inside, with plenty of sauce for dipping. We shared the appetizer because we knew the pho we ordered would be large and wanted to make sure we had room. We ordered rare steak pho and Saigon Pho. The bowls were huge with very generous, steaming portions, noodles cooked perfectly, and the broth was outstanding. I read some reviews about there being too much spice seasoning but we really thought the broth was delicious! It came with fresh bean sprouts, cilantro, and peppers to add. I took one star away as the steak could have been thinner and more tender in the rare steak pho. My daughter ordered the Saigon Pho and she didn't have any complaints. The milk teas (I got strawberry and my daughter got Thai) were very good, not overly sweet. I highly recommend the strawberry! We will definitely be back and look forward to trying other items on their menu! read more
