Saigon Noodle House ROCKS ! Another great meal this evening. Both me and crazy guest, a complete NUT; enjoyed everything ordered. This place is so dang consistent! The Spring rolls are like nobody's else I've ever seen, excellent with peanut sauce- you will want extra peanut sauce if you like this as much as I do. The Sandwiches- YUMMY - The Vietnamese ham, roasted pork and Pâté with "bimmy" bread or whatever they call the fresh made bread is so soft and unbelievable! Saigon Noodle House is truly one of Birmingham's hidden gems... or not! It seems like everybody knew about this but me! I came one night during our first cold snap of the season with a couple friends, looking to warm up with some soupy goodness. I ordered the classic chicken pho and dressed it up with all the bean sprouts, lime, and chili oil. It's perfect without all that, but the chili oil mixed in with the broth really sends it over the edge. We also started with an order of spring rolls where I asked our lovely waitress to "surprise us" with her favorite. I believe what she brought us was spam spring rolls, which I never would have ordered of my own volition, but were fantastic. The dipping sauce was great, too. Something in the peanut family but not fully a peanut sauce, I think. This place is run like a well-oiled machine. They churn out food quickly and run some no-funny-business service. Some of the tastiest noodle dishes I've ever eaten! There was so much on the menu that sounded delicious, it was hard to choose. The portions were a generous size and very satisfying. This is by far the best pho in Birmingham. Make the trip down hwy 280. You won't regret it. I've tried other pho places around bham, and their depth of flavor just doesn't compare. Also, don't get the fresh spring rolls anywhere else but here. The shrimp & charbroiled pork rolls are my favorite. They are 2 to an order and are huge. My sinuses acted up so horribly this week. All I wanted was a bowl of Bun Bo Hue (B5), Cha Gio (A1), Goi Cuon Tom Thit Nuong (A4), a fluffy blanket and good music or a nice movie. Saigon provided the food, I got the rest and now my night is complete. There was a promotion on doordash for certain apps being BOGO and I took full advantage for my pick up order. A1 was cripsy and flavorful, A4 are my fav rolls and B5 was delicious per usual. I need to request they increase the spice level for me next time, but I do always keep a variation of fresh and dried peppers at home thankfully. When you drive past it you may not realize it but as you search and see the photos and reviews on Velp and then the very second you walk inside you will see that it's best possible spot. The food was completely authentic and completely 100 percent perfect flavors and temperatures. Although the food and the layout and vibe was great my favorite was my greeter and my server. Made an order for pick up and it was ready within 15 minutes which was super nice. Started off with the pork eggrolls and fried squid, both were pretty decent, i would recommend them. I got one of the sandwiches and my wife got some of the noodles, again, both were pretty decent, not the best in the world, but gets the job done. Having recently moved to Birmingham from the Twin Cities, Minnesota, where we have one of the largest populations of south East Asians, a.k.a. from Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, etc., I know what good pho is. So Saigon noodle house was highly recommended to me so I thought I would give it a try. I was not at all disappointed! I have ordered delivery as well as dined in here. As I always do, I got the pho dac biet, and first try the broth without adding anything at all. Flavorful, rich, umami, with that complex taste of spices and herbs that makes a good bowl of PHO, amazing and necessary. The portion was generous, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. My only beef with the beef. (he hee hee I think I'm funny) is that the flank steak is usually cut thinner and serve raw to then cook in the steaming hot broth. Other than that, I consumed as much as my stomach could handle. I also got the fried egg rolls and those were delicious as well. Also got the banh mi with all of the meats and extra pate. A little bit on the dry side, and it could use a little more pickling of the carrots and daikon, but otherwise it definitely fulfilled my craving. They also had coffee, milk, bubble, tea, which was tasty and the Boba was the correct perfect texture. Service was great, the place was clean with pictures of Vietnamese dishes on the wall. Saigon Noddle House has my absolute favorite pho in all of Birmingham. The broth is so flavorful, and the portions are generous. If you don't want soup, try one of their vermicelli noodle dishes (my favorite is the charbroiled pork, my husband likes the pork and egg roll version). Or not a fan of noodles? Then have a banh mi (sandwich) or a rice dish (the cubed beef is a particular favorite, with a fried egg on top). Seriously, I've never had anything bad in this restaurant; you can't go wrong no matter what you pick. The spring rolls are delicious (I've tried all of them and my personal fave is the tofu). Another great appetizer is the butterfly shrimp. For dessert, definitely try the beignets, which they serve with a delicious coffee sauce for dipping. The service is always friendly, no matter whether we are eating in or picking up to-go. Although it may not appear large from the outside, upon closer inspection, one will discover that this restaurant delves deep. Like any quality Vietnamese place, they have large granite table tops that can accommodate many party sizes. The vibe exudes the charm of an old diner, coupled with the lively energy of an eager staff and the delightful aromas of a mix of funk and herbs emanating from the kitchen. True to their name, they have an impressive variety of different noodles that range from soups to stifried. One can get their fix of hu tieu, pho, mi, and bun combinations to their heart's content. The bun bo hue seems pretty legit and the pho dac biet was an ample portion, which is even better with summer rolls (goi cuon) or their fried spring rolls (cha gio). I appreciate when a place can rock fresh herbs as their garnishes and a healthy side of sauces as well. I realize that a lot of folks get their food to go, but for noodle specialty spots, I think it's best enjoyed in-house. I also know that banh mi is popular here, even if I think their baguettes are average. An added bonus is they have beignets here, which is better than any dessert in the house. At the end of the day, I think their friendly service, solid prices, and fairly abundant menu make Saigon Noodle House a winner. It is located near the Summit so perfect for a shopping day or when I am near the location. The staff is always so friendly and makes you feel welcome. The wait time is awesome too. Even if I am dining in or taking out, the wait is always less than fifteen minutes, even on verry busy nights. My favorite thing to get is the pho or the Bún bò Huế. Their appetizers are also amazing and it is well worth the trip. Their prices are very fair as well. I am always full whenever I leave the resturaunt. I go here more in the cold weather because soup in the cold is my favorite. Another menu item I enjoy from this location is the Bánh mi. The food here is so good. And it's good EVERY TIME. We go here a lot, and seriously,, the food is excellent every single time. We usually get pho and sometimes we get noodles or a sandwich. We haven't ever had anything that wasn't good. The waitstaff is always helpful and friendly and they earn their tips- if you ask for something, it appears quickly and with a smile. We get takeout from here often too and it's always packaged thoughtfully so the bag doesn't sag or the lid doesn't pop off the broth container. Vegetables are always fresh. If you get a pho bowl that has regular broth, you can always sub out for the spicy broth if thats your jam. The ginger chicken pho is a perfect meal when you're sick! read more
