Spring rolls were legit better than most I've had at other places

This was a surpriser to have a meal at. It is almost secret from the outside that is never just accidentally noticed by anyone. You'd have to know exactly where it is bc you won't just happen to drive past it some time. The food and the service was very delicious. My server was super kind and she was very helpful too as I was curious of what to order. She actually talked with me and then I ordered a mindblower that was seriously perfect. The feel inside is nicer than you'll expect as you see it form the outside and even as soon as you walk inside the front door. After you take a few steps you'll see the actual seating area and you'll like it.

Okay the first selling point for me personally was the location - my odometer went up by only one mile round trip! Secondly, this place has been in business since 1988?! You know it has to be good to be around for so long. I ordered the spicy Szechuan wings for an appetizer, the Kung Pao combination, and the honey walnut coated chicken (with brown rice). The restaurant itself is charming and has strong family touches (pictures of children up on the wall around the register), seems very clean and comfortable. I ordered just as they opened and there were already a few people seated in the dining room. Employees were wearing masks and very respectful. Everything came out piping hot and perfectly packaged for my short trek home! First off - the wings. I wish they were a bit more spicy (I love heat!), but now I know next time to order them extra spicy. Flavor was great, perfectly seasoned (not too salty) and with a yummy dipping sauce! They were still almost too hot (temperature, not spice) by the time we sat down to eat. Next up, the entrees. Portion was great! This is easily two meals for me, maybe I'll make a little extra rice, but tons of meat and vegetables with a lot of sauce. I had the honey coated walnut chicken which was great! Veggies had a nice bit of crunch, sauce was not overly sweet, and chicken was moist. My boyfriend had the Kung Pao combination which he enjoyed! His veggies were also well cooked, the sauce was savory and plentiful, and the meats were all great as well. He loves spicy things like I do (maybe even more so), so next time he'll probably ask for it to be extra spicy. All in all this was a very satisfying meal, and it was tough for us to decide what to try from the menu. We'll certainly be ordering again to try some other new dishes and any other time we have a hankering for some great, fresh Chinese from a lovely family owned establishment!

Food was excellent not quite as spicy as I had hoped but flavor profile was on point. Quick friendly service with a smile. The ambiance was nice with tasteful decor. Definitely a must if looking for good Chinese in Birmingham . Will visit again.

Ming's is a spot I used to come to time to time for lunch when I worked nearby. But I haven't been since then which was at least 5 years ago. And it is an interesting story of how we ended up back here. I have heard for years about their peking duck being amazing. I always wanted to order it for a special occasion but never had. And with my birthday coming up, the consideration came up again. Long story short, we didn't call and try to order in enough time (at least 24-48 hours in advance) and decided to come in person. They had a crispy duck on the menu. And even though I know it wasn't the same, I figured I would give it a try. My wife wanted to try it to, so we went half and half with that and sesame chicken and some spring rolls. They didn't have a kids menu, so we got them some fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. What I had of the duck was really good and the sauce with it was tasty. Unfortunately a vast majority of this was bones that you had to pick through. Everything else was really tasty and enjoyed by everyone. The service was really attentive (it was also a slow Monday night) and that is how I always remember for lunch. Even though I would not order the duck again, I enjoyed visiting Ming's again. Also FYI, they said they don't do the peking duck any more anyway. Hate I missed that.

The restaurant itself is also fairly large with a lot of seating a few TVs and a nice dark-wall ambience. In the past, I've had Gen. Tso's chicken with fried rice, which I highly recommend, but today I wanted to do something different so I went with Kung pow chicken, which ads nice fresh vegetables and peanuts to a spicy chicken mix. It's a bit less sweet than General Tso's. I also had egg drop soup which was pleasant and mild as an appetizer. I might want a bit more rice delivered with my meal, my friend today asked for a second rice serving with his dish, and mine was a little short on the very pleasant fried rice. We had terrific service from our waitress, she was helpful and attentive and friendly. After your meal explore the grocery store. There are a lot of unique food opportunities in the cavernous grocery store, and, believe it or not, there's a ping pong tournament space in the back. A fun and fascinating visit.

They were steady but there was still a table available for us to sit. The service was incredibly friendly and efficient. We both got the lunch sesame chicken with soup and added on an egg roll. The sodas are in bottles but not overpriced at $2.50 each. The total was $38 not including tip for two of us which, in 2026, is reasonable. I got the hot and sour soup and my husband got the egg drop. I didn't try his but he said it was wonderful but the hot and sour may have been the best I've ever had. It had just the right amount of kick, the mushrooms were big and fresh and perfectly cooked, and it was steaming hot! The egg roll was fantastic, and if you are a hot mustard fan definitely ask for a ramekin instead of the packet. It's super hot and made my nose run but the flavor was incredible. The sesame chicken had very light breading, was juicy, large in portion and piece size and all white meat. I think I managed one bite of fried rice before I was full but it was cooked perfectly. Some of the reviews complained about the lack of music playing or art on the walls but truly the friendly service more than makes up for it; I don't go out to eat to listen to their background music, anyway. We will make a point to come back any time we are in the area.

My moo goo gai pan had barely any chicken in it. There were huge chunks of vegetables and it was way too starchy. It was like they were trying to compensate for the lack of protein in it. Hate to leave the negative review, but I need to warn people that they're using filler food to complete the orders and charging more. What's not cool anywhere these days is paying more and getting way less than just a few years ago. All of us are working hard to earn money and it just feels so disappointing to not get what you pay for, especially when you're paying more than you used to. I don't know who to blame for this. If I wanted a carton of vegetables I would have eaten a frozen bag for $2.50 tonight.
