I am SO happy my boyfriend asked "Is there a good Vietnamese restaurant up there?" -- So I searched Yelp and lo and behold Saigon Noodle House came up. Walking up you could SMELL the delicious smells wafting toward you. Get inside, it was already fairly busy at around 5 on a Wednesday, and we were greeted by the sweetest smiliest hostess ever. It smelled like heaven. Our server (I think our receipt said Lisa) was phenomenal, so on it, quick, friendly, and thorough! I got the extra large P6 (thin beef and meatball pho) and my boyfriend got the beef and brisket. I also got a Bahn mi (BM2) to go. I am not exaggerating when I say this is the BEST PHO BROTH I HAVE EVER HAD. You can taste the deep, rich (yet somehow light?) flavors made with SO MUCH LOVE. It really needed no doctoring with hoisin or sriracha. We were both so so happy and thankful that we decided on Saigon for our dinner before the Janelle Monae show at Avondale. I just ate my Bahn mi today, and it is STILL super fresh and delicious, with a perfectly balanced amount of meat, pickled vegetables and patê. This is added to my list of Birmingham "MUST EATS" It was so good -- we bought a shirt to prove it! It will be proudly worn, and thought back on fondly. We will be back for sure. read more

Saigon has always been one of my favorite Asian restaurants in bham. Sadly on my last couple visits I've noticed severe inflation AND shrink flation . Everything on the menu has seen at least a 20% increase which is expected but the portions are so tiny now that I definitely need at least an appetizer to get a full meal. My take out beef was $16 and had ten little cubed pieces of beef in it. It WAS amazing though. read more

When we had a few chilly days, we couldn't help but crave Pho, so we ordered our favorites from Saigon Noodle House. My kiddos want only the chicken, broth, and noodles that they season with hoisin and sriracha, so we go with two to three orders from the children's menu. You can also order extra broth and noodles if they don't add that much chicken. I always order an extra peanut sauce for the spring rolls, so we don't have to share. I learned that we need to pay $0.25 for each extra peanut sauce. We ordered through ASAP (formerly known as Waitrapp) and they have sides that you an order, but peanut sauce isn't on the list. You can order a side of limes and specify in the instructions that you are paying for extra peanut sauce for the spring rolls. I suggest adding a little sriracha to the peanut sauce. I like the fried tofu spring rolls (A7), but it's hard to beat the charbroiled pork spring rolls (A6). I'm a fan of their Noodles with Fried Vietnamese Pork Egg Rolls and Charbroiled Pork, but I can't finish it in one meal. Ask for an extra fish sauce to brighten the flavors and season it again because the noodles soak up all of it the first time and mutes the flavor. read more

Ok so I went to Pho place and enjoyed myself thoroughly and then I went back on a Tuesday to see they are closed on Tuesdays so I looked up for more Pho and came across Saigon Noodle House.... Well yum yum! It was delicious! I got the beef and brisket Pho and shrimp spring rolls. The peanut sauce that accompanies the spring rolls is simply amazing! I had a new waiter who was very attentive and ensured that I had everything I needed. This is another come as you are placed, so no need for fancy gear, just come with a great appetite! The restaurant was clean and they even give you peppermints if you want one to close out your meal! I definitely recommend! read more

The broth is so good that I often crave this dish. Love the Cafe Su Da. They serve it "old school" where the coffee is slow-dripped in the individual coffee strainer. After having eaten here about a half dozen times or so, I can confidently say this is one of the best if not the best Vietnamese place in town. Their measures are extremely awesome for covid, they are truly going above and beyond to make sure everything is safe. For example- if you go in to pick up a take out order, they have a jar for used pens and sanitized pens after signing your receipt and touch free checkout otherwise. The food! It's always so fresh and piping hot. If you note something like you want your dish extra spicy, they are happy to accommodate. I really need to be better about trying new things, but sometimes it's so hard to stray from a favorite! The spring rolls and egg rolls are all great. Bun (b4-1) with stir fried chicken and onions in a spicy lemongrass sauce is a favorite. P3 is also great Bun Tai Nam - pho with thinly sliced beef and brisket. My fiancé almost always gets b4 - Bun with fried Vietnamese pork egg rolls and charbroiled pork. We have truly never been disappointed! They have the takeout process very streamlined. The workers are great communicators and happy to recommend items if you're not familiar with the menu. We will continue to be regular customers here! read more

As a Vietnamese individual, I would rate this business with 5 stars across the board for its food, assistance, and atmosphere. I consumed Pho for my midday meal. The Pho broth had a delicate flavor profile, devoid of sweetness, and achieved a harmonious blend of herbs. The Veggie and Pho Thai (thinly sliced meat) were delicious. I also tried Ca phe sua da, and I was pleasantly surprised by the coffee's condensed milk sauce. Initially, I believed it to be caramel sauce, but, the skillful manner in which they harmonized the level of sweetness was very remarkable. The server, whom I believe is named Alex, provided us with valuable assistance. In addition, she displayed an amiable demeanor and effortlessly recalled our purchase without the need for paperwork. I would have given this place 5 stars had it not been for them providing me with the wrong sauce and cold broth. I ordered pick up and requested sweet chili sauce with my tofu spring rolls. Even upon pickup when they repeated my order the lady stated sweet chili sauce, and lo and behold, I got the peanut sauce. I am allergic to nuts, this is why I was annoyed. But thank goodness I had sweet chili sauce at the house though. Also, the broth was served a little colder than lukewarm. Odd because the noodles and vegetables (served separately) were hot. Makes me think this broth has been sitting somewhere, not temperature controlled, for some time. Despite all that, the food was very good. That is why they earned 4 stars. The food taste, quality, portions and price earned them 4 stars! I would order from here again, I would just check my food prior to leaving. Finally, I have the time to sit down and update my review of this place. At first, I thought it was average, but after having tried multiple other pho-serving restaurants, I would have to rate this as my favorite based on menu options, quality, quantity per serving, service, and atmosphere. I have yet to have a problem with the quality of the food here. I love the pho and bun bo hue so much that I have yet to venture outside of these two noodle bowls. Of course I've had the spring rolls, but I have yet to eat here so often that I am not craving either pho or bun bo hue. My friends that have had other menu options like the vermicelli or rice platters have thoroughly enjoyed them. Thus, I have no doubt they are excellent. Quantity, for the price you pay, I would have to say that I leave this place satisfied and without a large dent in my wallet or bank account. Fair prices for the quality and quantity of food you get. Service: Has always been excellent. Servers always pleasant to interact with and very polite. Never had an issue, unlike other places I will not mention in this review. Let's just say, I always come back here because of the service as well as food. Atmosphere: always crowded. And it is for a good reason. Enough said. Cannot get enough of this spot. I drive across town for it at least once a week, and after I always can't stop thinking about it for days. I want to make it through more of the menu but I can't pry myself away from ordering the beef pho, even in the dead of summer. The broth is so so flavorful, best I've had, and they give you an extremely generous portion of delicious meat. I also love their Thai tea boba, not too sweet and great texture on the boba. They're located in a shopping center off Hwy 280, so it's not exactly the ambience for a fancy date night or anything, but the food is worthy of any date if you ask me! Haven't really ventured out to try much more than their Pho....sometimes you just got to stick with what you already know is good! I personally would recommend that you ask for the sprouts to be steamed instead of brought out raw....they will still have the crunch, but already cooked some and hot so they don't cool down the broth unnecessarily. I like my soup HOT!! Also, you can sub in coconut curry broth in the Pho for an extra dollar. Worthwhile in my opinion! I hear so many people raving about Pho, but I don't particularly care for the flavors. I also tried the shrimp and pork spring rolls with peanut sauce. It was just okay. There was nothing wrong with the food preparation or food itself, it's just not my thing. With all that said, I might try one of the sandwiches in the future. I went here while looking for something quick, craving some Asian food! I found this little spot while trying to get off of beloved 280 traffic! It wasn't too bad, I'm not quite sure yet if it was good enough for me to return! The chicken was okay and the spring rolls are quite different (as you can tell pictures below)! The spring rolls would have been better had it had a little bit more flavoring! I'm not sure if it's just my basic taste buds or the way they do things at this restaurant the Spring Rolls could have been a lot better had the Shrimp been flavored or seasoned. Authentic Vietnamese food! The service is always great and so is the food. My family and I have been eating here for years. Every dish I have ever ordered is delicious. Try the noodle dish with a fried egg roll with the charbroiled pork chop or the Brisket Pho. Those hands down are my go-to's. The broth for their phos is consistent and packed with flavor.
