We came here while in the area when my kid wanted their favourite meal option: lemongrass beef. This may not be the most common preference for preschoolers but mine loves it so very much that we seek out Vietnamese restaurants for it specifically. The kid really enjoyed the lemongrass beef which came with great noodles, vegetables, fish sauce and so on. I had a great vermicelli bowl. It was topped with great toppings of the meat/seafood options. My partner got the pho. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the kid loved the décor in the restaurant. Service was very attentive and staff confirmed that my kid did indeed want the flavourful lemongrass beef. I'd definitely come here again if in the area. And I know my kid would too. read more

We have been eating at or taking out from this restaurant for years. They have excellent vermicelli bowls. Lemongrass chicken is our favourite, but there several other varieties. Their ginger beef is one of the best we have eaten. Crispy and tender with an excellent spicy sweet and sour sauce. I have attached pics of the latest (April 2024) menu. The prices have gone up since the previous menus were posted. However in my opinion, the food is still worth it. read more

Last minute lunch plans with Natdogg. Forged ahead with our plan to try all the spots along 97 Street. Next on the list was Saigon Paradise, a Vietnamese and Thai restaurant. We came on a Wednesday for lunch and it was pretty quiet, except for when a pile of people came in to grab their takeout orders. The inside is pretty standard but Natdogg wasn't a big fan of the decor. The menu is massive, which happens when you try to do two cuisines in one place. We stuck with the Vietnamese food. - Salad rolls (#5) ($7.00) - they didn't cut the rolls very well to share. Standard fare. - 2x Beef sate (#27) ($11.00) - this isn't your usual sate broth. They throw in grilled onions, cilantro and top with crumbled peanuts. The broth tasted light, herbally and the lemongrass shows up quite prominently. SP won't blow you away but from what we tried, the food was respectable. read more

We used to go to this place quite often but stopped as the service was terrible. Not once did the people at our table receive our food anywhere near the same time. At times, it was a five minute wait for all to be served our meals. The food was good but not worth the service. read more

Nestled in a small shopping center on 97th Street here in Edmonton, this restaurant puts out one mean Pho. The broth was full-flavored and vibrant and was chocked full of vegetables and meat. I went with the special Pho and it included different types of beef along with tendons, tripe and meatballs. read more

I wish we could give half stars to make this 3.5, but I really can't justify a 4. The food was really delicious and decent portions for what we paid. However there was zero customer service in that the waitress just said what do you want and that was it for speaking for the evening. I went to pay and no one said a word to me and just spoke in their language to each other. I found it pretty rude and like they couldn't care less if we had a good meal or not. They just wanted our money. The place seemed kind of dirty or greasy. And it was like they were cramming as many people as they possibly could in a living room. It was literally so small. As I said though, the food was great. We had the ginger beef and rice, along with the lemon grass fried chicken and rice. The lemon grass was amazing and totally hit the spot. My beloved Nam's on 137 was closed and I needed Pho STAT! So I took a cruise down 97 to see what I could find and was fortunate enough to come upon Saigon Paradise. Was it my fave pho in the city? No. Would I return in a pinch? Absolutely. It was clean, tons of parking and the service was just fine. If the food is good(which it was) then they're hitting all the right notes of what a casual Vietnamese resto should entail. The pho was big and hot and cheap ($10 for sliced beef bowl). It was positively loaded with fresh onion and cilantro which is not a standard treat and I appreciated it very much. read more

As far as it goes, it was decent thai. The phad thai used angel hair rice noodles. It was ok... not amazing, just ok. The swimming rama (though they called it something else here) was also descent... could have used a lot more sauce though. The cool part (other than the overly garish xmas tree and glowing angels) was the spinach that came with the swimming rama, it was instead of the usual steamed/sauted spinach it was labeled as "crispy" spinach. This was deep fried spinach, it was crispy and tasted a bit like popcorn (oilly but tasty) and was sprinkled with salt and what I can only imagine was sugar! We used to order take out regularly from the Saigon Paradise, but no more. The food is always ready later than promised. Service is slow if you are dining in. Sometimes they will make a mistake on your order and that is annoying, but we put up with it for the tasty food. Most recently though, I arrived to pick up my order and they did not have my order and it took 15 minutes to figure out they lost my order. Idiots. I will not spend my money with these losers anymore! read more

One of the better Viet places so far in Edm. Portion size is good but per plate runs about 15 dollars or more so not all that cheap. Service was pretty good but the food came out over an extended time, sort of like Korean food of one dish at a time. Prefer my food together. The salad and shrimp roles in rice wrapprr were excellent as was the chicken with rice noodles and veg. Would do these again for sure. The Tenderloin beef plate was very tender but not much flavour. It was also 20 bucks for not a lot of meat. Not one I would get again. The spicy lemon grass fried beef was very good as was the mixed veg plate. Total with rice and tip but no drinks beyond tea and one gingerale was 85 bucks. Had lots of left overs. We will go back. read more

Fresh and delicious food. It's hard to imagine that this little corner has so many delicious recipes. Top notch food quality. I had chicken with peanut sauce and crispy spinach(124). Absolutely delicious! This restaurant was recommended by a friend, and I definitely think word of mouth is the best advertisement. My daughters started off with the green onion cakes, which they loved. We ordered the Pad Thai which was my favorite - nice and spicy. We also had the filet mignon curry with potatoes, the chicken curry with potatoes, and of course coconut rice. Service was fast and friendly from our waiter Le, and the cook (owner?) Tim came out and asked us how everything was. A great experience all around. We will definitely be back! read more

I have to admit I only come here because the people I work with have established this as a favourite place for lunch. I find Saigon pretty average I guess. There's nothing particularly terrible with the food or restaurant but there's also nothing amazing about it either. Portions are a good size and prices are fair - about $11 for a vermicelli bowl. I'd warn that if you go during lunch hour, service can be a little bit slow as they usually only have one server for the restaurant, although today they also had a bus boy. read more

Staff is very cold, unwelcoming, hostile & rude... Especially to people when they come into the restaurant needing a washroom... I usually do take out when I stop by... Last night I WAS going to order food & do take out - but not with your wait staffs attitudes & how I was being treated... Have been at your restaurant with a couple friends previously - we sat down & ordered - we were treated like trash with your servers bad attitudes... Previous to that I brought a group with me & due to the condescending attitude of the servers - we left without ordering & went elsewhere... Nothing has changed with your wait staff... You have a serious problem there... You as a business owner & your staff - you all need to remember working people with a lot of $ to spend don't look like royalty wearing heels & mink coats - often we wear leather & denim - we are the working class... Your staff needs to quit looking down their noses at people... You just lost a long time customer with your staffs condescending attitudes... Your establishment is not the Ritz Carlton nor a 5 star restaurant - you are a very small business that relies on customers to stay open... The only thing you have going for you is decent Thai food - that is it... Deal with your staff & their poor attitudes towards your paying customers... The best Vietnamese Chinese fusion cuisine ever! The produce is incredibly fresh and the food is fantastic. The only Asian restaurant I've eaten at that didn't upset my stomach at all. The food is wholesome and delightful. The restaurant is fairly small and simple but kept very clean. The staff are very friendly but don't speak incredibly good English and they are usually busy so they don't speak much but they tend to you in a timely manner typically. Service was friendly enough, but combining Thai and Vietnamese in one restaurant, a good idea in theory, falls flat when you can't execute on either one. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either, and definitely not cheap. Go to an authentic Thai or Vietnamese place. read more

This is a fairly new restaurant that opened about two years ago and is becoming more and more popular and busier as time goes on. We are big fans of Vietnamese food and have tried all the restaurants in our neighbourhood and we keep going back to this one. They serve all the traditional Vietnamese dishes and service is quick. The also specialize in Thai food that is really good but a bit more expensive that the Vietnamese food. We recommend the Vietnamese soups, vermicelli noodles and rice plates. We like it because the price is right and it is not as oily as some of the other restaurants we have tried. If you want something special the Thai coconut soup is really good and the deep fried spinach is to die for, it melts in your mouth. The servers are very friendly and remember their regulars. The chef /owner is very friendly and is not afraid to come out and recommend a special dish. read more
