Chicken curry puff
Gloria N.

Solid Thai food on the North side of Edmonton!! I was craving Thai food so checked out Thai Avenue. First off, we wanted to try the chicken curry puffs and papaya salad. When we received the chicken curry puffs, some of them were not really hot so we returned them back for them to heat up and I really appreciate our server for being so accommodating with that. Papaya salad was fresh but I do wish it was a little bit more sour like other papaya salad but it's really just preference. I was really in the mood for something soupy for my entree so I chose to get the kow soi. It was super delicious and the flavor was definitely on point. The soup is a curry soup base so if you like curry too, this dish is definitely for you. The overall restaurant isn't too big but it certainly does give off a cozyish vibe. If you're looking to support a local business, definitely try them out!

The food had good flavor. It was rich in coconut and coconut milk, and overall very enjoyable. The coconut soup, in particular, stood out with a delightful blend of coconut and tomato flavors, distinguishing it from other restaurants where you might taste only one or the other. However, the chicken curry puff was a bit of a letdown. While it tasted good, it seemed like a premade item from Sysco, merely deep-fried. The dinner for one was a good size for an individual, accompanied by a choice of coconut rice or sticky rice. The only suggestion would be to have a bit more rice. The curry was tasty but slightly on the sweet side, lacking a bit in saltiness. The ambiance was pleasant, and the service was good. The pricing was reasonable, making it a place worth trying at least once if you are in the area. 2 people 77.98 plus tax and tips your call

This family owned restaurant in North Edmonton is a hidden gem! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and everyone is so friendly! The dishes are authentic, flavourful and prepared with quality ingredients. We tried the Panang Curry with Tofu, Coconut Rice, and Spicy Herbal Stir Fry with Chicken. The curry was really tasty, the rice had the perfect texture and the stir Fry had a nice spice. I'm excited to return to try more dishes!

Came here for date night. Lots of dine-in room. Was only 10% full at 5PM. Service was fine as they did refill our waters once but we did run out completely at the end of the meal. We started with the Spring rolls (they did not have pork so we had to get the veggie ones). 9/10 good. Very hot/freshly made. I got the BBQ Pork (5Pcs) ( Moo Ping) Serve With Sticky Rice. Pork was 10/10 delicious. Moist, great flavor. Sticky rice came in a bag which was a little weird as I would have liked them to take it Out of the bag before service. ?did they forget??? Boyfriend got the Pad Thai. Lots of noodles - great pootion to share. Love that the nuts are on the side so you can add per your preference. Decent flavor but pretty oily/greasy. There are a couple items on the Thai Street Food menu I want to come back for!

We arrived and from the outside thought it would be small inside but it was comfortable for our birthday gathering of 10. The service throughout the evening was excellent. Even when they closed, they didn't rush us out as we were paying. For my friend that was celebrating the birthday, they even provided her with a birthday dessert that include mango ice cream and deep fried banana and put a candle on the dessert. What a sweet gesture! Between two of us, we shared 3 items; chicken satay (4), Pad Thai Tom Yum, and Pad See Ew. The satay was fine but not something I would order again as it wasn't amazing. I enjoyed the noodle dishes. They were flavourful and delicious. My table mates all enjoyed their meals that included noodles, rice, and meats. I found the service to be great along with the food and if I lived in the area, I would frequent here more often.

The husband and I frequent another popular Edmonton Thai restaurant which is downtown, and therefore a very long drive... We saw a sign up for this restaurant, and were very excited... It finally opened late last week!!! We didn't know what to expect, because it's in a small strip mall, next to Boba Club and a salon.... So at first glance, one might think it's more of a quick service type place. Incorrect! It's a sit-down restaurant- tasteful decor, brand new interior and furniture, and felt super duper clean. We were impressed from the moment we walked in. We ordered the red curry (chicken) with a side of coconut rice, and pad Thai (chicken)... with a green onion cake to start. Because we like heat, we asked for extra spicy (both dishes already had a Chili next to them on the menu to indicate spicy...) the server seemed surprised, and in a way I can understand why- because the dishes definitely must have already had a good kick to them anyhow. This won't mean anything to anyone but me- but this "extra spicy" was as spicy as when we ask for "extra extra spicy" anywhere else.... Haha. For myself in the future, I would definitely still ask for extra spicy on the red curry, but I would like to try the pad Thai with the spice-level they normally give. The service was so friendly, and we can tell this is going to be a neighbourhood go-to. Even if it wasn't 5 mins from us, I'd say this place is worth the drive. Thanks so much to the staff at Thai Avenue! Keep it up, and don't lose your quality after being open for some time. This we delicious.

We have been waiting for a Thai restaurant to open closer to us for a while now, so when this popped up we HAD to try it. We are frequent visitors of Boba Club, and this is in the same parking lot. When we walked in, it was clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The workers were all very pleasant and attentive. We were having a late dinner (around 715pm), and came to learn the place closes at 8, but we didn't feel rushed or anything. We ordered green onion cake which were fresh and tasty, and for mains got chicken pad Thai, Red curry with chicken and coconut rice. We ordered everything extra spicy, and they definitely listened. The red curry was very flavourful with the right amount of heat. The pad thai was even spicier than the curry. I still feel the heat in my mouth as I write this review lol. I would describe the pad thai different then what I'm used to, but still very tasty. The dishes seemed a tad bit pricier than other places, however the quality in the food and service was there and it's close to my house SOOOO I can't complain. Definitly check this place out!!!

Atmosphere was simple, modern but had the Thai vibe. Enjoyed the decor, even the fake plants were a nice touch. Our table had a strong smell of old wet cloth. Didn't take too long for our food. Portion size was small, and pricy for what you got. Flavour was on par, really enjoyed the food. Spring rolls were plain Jane with just cabbage inside. Customer service was friendly!

Cashew nut stir fry this chicken #36

I heard good reviews for this place but I must have hit them on an off day. This was the worst Thai food I've ever had. The cashew nut stir fry was a watery mess, no flavour and to call this a stir fry is insulting. Won't be going back.

This Northside gem has been open for about 2 months now. The restaurant is brand new, modern & very clean, and in a brand new plaza too. Service was good. The food was delicious as well. It's nice to have a new Thai spot in the city, just wished they were Southside (as travelling to the North is extremely far for us)! The Tom Yum Soup, & Chicken Satay were incredible. Their Boat Noodle Soup, was very unique, and if you're fond of Liver, it is a must try!

Another satisfying meal experience at Thai Avenue! Daniel and his crew offer warm, personable service and really yummy Thai cuisine. Atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. It won't disappoint

It's also generally quiet enough to have a nice conversation, if you're a talker like me. The service was quick and friendly, and they were very good at reccomending dishes! We found this particularly helpful for choosing what meat/protein to put in our meals, and we all agreed that they knew what was best. As for the food, it was the most absolutely wonderful and authentic Thai I have ever had. Every dish was flavourful, fairly priced, and came in a huge portion! We have never gotten a single bad thing there (and we experiment often), and we have never left without takeout containers full to the brim. The leftovers are always amazing, too. I could go on and on about how much I love this restaurant, truly. What a lovely place to dine in St Albert that I wish I had discovered so much sooner! If you're interested in what to try, my favourites are the Pad Thai with chicken, or the Pad See Eiw with chicken or tofu. I'm not a beef lover, but they make it quite well there I will say. The curries are quite good but some of them get fairly spicy, at least for me. The peanut curry is definitely my favourite! As for appetizers, they have these excellent deep-fried crab and cream cheese dumplings that I can never get enough of! Be aware though, there are lots of peanuts used in recipes, so be careful if you have an allergy.

Tried this place twice about a month apart, the food is great but there's inconsistent portions and service can a bit slow as it's a mom & pop restaurant. Seating arrangements are ok but can definitely could use a deep clean/upgrade - old time hole in the wall look, feel & vibe. During our latest visit, the restaurant opened up a few minutes late as owners were running a bit late. Service was slower as there was only one person attending 6+ tables that came in about the same time. The food tasted great but again was inconsistent with portions & plating. We both ordered the same Pad Thai Tom yum at the same time & one plate completely was missing mushrooms & lacked bean sprouts while the other had an abundance. The rice curry dishes are good but could use a much bigger portion of rice.

But there it was, this bright green little gem. It's not as modern as other places, but the food was fresh and topped up on the buffet + even though not as big as others, there were still a few items I hadn't seen anywhere else. Their broth was good too - we tried the satay & tom yum and both were flavourful. They've been open under the same management for 11+ years! Covid has been tough - they closed completely when dine in was shut down and are just starting to rebuild business (I don't think they do take out but I'm not 100%). It was completely dead when we were there, minus one other table - and they still kept filling the food with fresh items. They kind of fall under the radar, maybe because they're not as flashy as other places? But they are yummy with super nice people - if you're considering hotpot, it's worth checking out! A few things to note: it's one of the cheaper AYCE hotpots in the city (I think it was $26 + $2 for broth - other places are $35-40). AYCE only. No late night or lunch special, the price is the price all day. Cash or debit only.
