I thought this was a cute description.

I've been going here for years. There are a few hot pot restaurants in edmonton, some have lots of selection, some hate some hot foods. But none of them have the quality of food this place has, I always know exactly what to expect and the broth is just amazing. I always bring friends here for their first hot pot experience, and they always leave full and happy, and we always have fun talking and eating. They always have something new to try. U can try other hot places, and they are okay, but this place feels like home. They are always friendly and the prices are good. I have to keep it a secrete when I go here, because people get upset I didn't invite them sometimes... Its become a sort of tradition. Lol. anyways, try it, they have safe food (people like me) and they have stuff that is more adventurous (some of my Asian friends)

    Everyone has their own!

Do not let the outside of this place fool you. Though it isn't 100% top notch inside it is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. I often shy away from hot pot places because I am overwhelmed with the quantity of food that I am expected to eat. Expected is probably a little harsh, but just go with it. I liked this place because it is individual which isn't unique on its own, but my favourite part is the buffet. They have 4 broths to choose from. You get your own veggies, meats, fish, noodles, etc. in the exact amounts you want. And obviously as much as you want being that is how buffets work. There is lots of sauces and even rice if you want it! Just don't waste any food as there is a charge extra for it.

Spicy soup broth a mix of viet thai and spicy flavours !

Basic hotpot but very good ! Great value . Friendly owners and good food ! Not fancy like the downtown hotpots but it shines in its own way . Hotpot basics with a Vietnamese twist Spicy satay soup broth is very tasty and not oversalted like other places .

Visited this delightful little gem for my first hot pot experience last night and am thoroughly impressed! The restaurant was bright and clean and the staff (owner?) was very helpful and really nice. They didn't bother us, but were there if we had any questions. I really liked that each person got their own individual broth pot- this way, we didn't all have to try and come to a decision on the same one (I opted for the Tom Yum)! Same thing with our food choices... they offer up a bevy veggies, meats, seafood, etc. It was a tough thing trying to figure out where to start. Everything I tried was delicious and cooked perfectly by the broth. When it was time for dessert, I wasn't sure I would like any of the traditional dessert choices, but I did! Pleasant surprise, that. It's located in a residential area, but is easy to get to and the parking was decent. It would have been 5 stars if it was a little cheaper. I know, I know, it's a buffet. And we definitely left full. But on my budget I can't justify $25 for just my food on a regular basis... I will return for special occasions though! Had a blast with the girls and left completely satisfied with my hot pot experience. It's perfect for those chilly evenings when you just want something warm. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

This was such a fun experience. Our first time going to this restaurant. We live downtown- and whenever we drive through the neighbourhood the hot pot sign has always caught my eye. Upon entering we were greeted by a very nice gentleman who explained the concept, offered to show us the food, and made broth suggestions. My Husband had the classic chicken broth and I chose the Tom Yum. My broth consisted of tomato slices, lemongrass, and I think bay leaves? Along with other delicious spices. We went over to the main station and chose from fresh spinach, bok and suey choy, broccoli and shiitake mushrooms along others. The noodles were plentiful and included the rice, glass, thicker noodles, Shanghai, and wontons. The proteins were amazing. Beef, lamb, salmon, chicken, maki, organ meats, squid, and then the very yummy fish, shrimp, squid, lobster and a variety of other balls. This was a fun experience cooking our food and expert levelling with chopsticks. The dessert was super interesting. We tried the grass jelly, some green jelly, and mango rice pudding with liquid sugar and coconut milk. Overall very clean and bright atmosphere inside. Everything was spotless and our hot pot stations worked well. I could not believe this place wasn't busier when we went! I think it all comes down to their location (quiet and low traffic). Hence, I am Yelping to share the news and encouraging you to try it out !

And we also came with a very large group. Honestly they had all the reason to kick us out, but the staff took care of us regardless. Since we were late we just picked the soup broth and 5 add-on's. I got the Herb and Lamb broth. It was delicious, savory, and hearty. And for the add-on's, I picked the sliced Beef Sirloin, Enoki Mushroom, Napa Cabbage, Fried Tofu and Flat Rice Noodles. They didn't have Fried Tofu so I asked to substitute for Fried Bean Curd instead. Looking back at this now, I'm glad (and I'm sure the kitchen was too) that we only picked 5 things. AYCE would've been too much and too overwhelming with all the options there. And honestly, they gave us so much for the 5 things we ordered. It was a whole spread of meat and veggies. I was actually very impressed. Portion size was huge. I was also impressed by the service we received. It was late, but they really took care of us as patrons. It's a 4.5/5 for me. Definitely one of the best service I've received at a sit-down restaurant/food business and I wish this place success.

I love the online ordering system of scanning a qr code and ordering on ure phone. It makes life so much easier instead of trying to flag down a busy waiter. I loved this concept and I hope more restaurants do this. I started with the beef oxtail tongue and is was super delicious! I loved it. It's a tad spicy if your not used to it and for me it was not spicy enough. I will have to order this every single time bc it's just that delicious! I had the coconut curry soup with upgraded hand pulled noodles. It was a delicious upgrade. U can get unlimited noodle refills. But I preferred the hand pulled ones. They had a really good chew. My company had the tomato based broth which tasted like added some ketchup in the soup, it was sweet and tasty. Personally I loved the coconut curry though. We finished off with those warm coconut balls which were gooey and warm and so much better than regular sesame balls. Get them. They end up being $1 each. Definitely a nice cheap way to end the meal. Portions were good. Service was stellar. And I'll definitely be back!

Wow! First to review this place!!…read more We came here in June after their soft opening. My mom had heard about Han Shi Fang through WeChat and the videos looked so enticing. I was dying to try the combination of hot pot and grill. The staff were incredibly attentive and prompt. They gave lots of suggestions as to what to order, and my favorites were the supreme beef slices, sliced lamb, enoki beef rolls, and quail eggs. For five of us, a two-flavor pot worked very well. Also order the fresh watermelon juice, as it helps cool you down from the hot soup and grilled items. Take advantage of the make-your-own-sauce station near the entrance. My fav is ponzu with green onions and a little bit of garlic.

Seems to be all you can eat only since we weren't offered an a la carte option. It's $32.95 per person PLUS the cost of broth $6.95 for 1 flavour, $8.95 for 2 or $10.95 for 4. I guess if you only want hot water it's free? But who would do that?? They also have additional items you can add for a cost but we stuck to the AYCE menu. $3.25 for unlimited refills of canned pop or $8.95 for 1 pitcher of their fresh beverages. We ordered a half non-spicy pork bone broth and half house special butter spicy. You can adjust the spice level and although we asked for medium spicy, there was definitely heat to it! Once we put in our order, we went to the small sauce station to make our sauces. Not as many options as other places in town, but did the job. The broth pot came out first - a communal pot for the table, so be aware. Topped with a grill plate over top for your BBQ. The spicy butter was indeed spicy and heavy on the grease. I don't think I'd order it again. The pork was better, but although both had lots of aromatics in them, we both found them to be rather bland. The hot food options were ok. You get 1 order of enoki beef rolls per table, already cooked, and they were tasty. Didn't love the crispy pork. As for the rest, our favourites were the shrimp paste, the hot pot beef, hot pot lamb and quail eggs (already cooked and peeled). Service was incredibly attentive and friendly. The moment we had an empty plate, it was whisked away. No complaints there. Overall, it was about $90 for 2 people before tip and drinking pop. Definitely not a cheap meal. That said, service was great and the ventilation was good where it wasn't stuck to our clothes & hair (often we leave these restaurants smelling like hot pot forever). The novelty is fun with both hot pot & BBQ, but I didn't find the BBQ great. Would be better going to an actual BBQ restaurant for BBQ. For the price, the options are limited compared to other places.

For drinks, we tried the strawberry coconut milk tea and the dirty brown sugar milk tea, and both were delicious. The food was amazing. I would highly recommend the pork bone broth for first-timers -- it was hands down my favorite. The sukiyaki was also a standout (perfect if you enjoy saltier flavors). The Tom Yum was great if you like spice, but it's more of a specific taste and probably not one I'd personally reorder. The decor is beautiful with subtle cultural touches, and I loved how modern and easy the experience was. They have an online ordering system you can use right from your phone, which made everything super convenient. Bonus: they offer a happy hour deal on the beef short until 3 PM, where it's $2.99 instead of the regular $6 -- such a steal. The service was incredible. The staff brought the food out quickly, and our server took the time to explain everything, which made our first hot pot experience stress-free and enjoyable. The place looks really fancy with its atmosphere (aside from the gender neutral bathroom). Mainly writing this review to express the disappointment in service me and my girlfriend had to deal with, we got seated right away with a female server (name Idk of) and this male server named "Jay" (looks Russian) said he was our server today and said to look through the menu and he'll be right back and when we're ready he'll take our orders, dude literally ignores us for like 30mins all the while he's helping the tables near us with simple tasks, this guy has the nerves to look me right in the eyes while I tried waving him down (not once but a couple times) to take our orders and he just continues to either help those other tables or walk away entirely to go talk with his co workers, my girlfriend said lets wait for another couple minutes and I reluctantly agree but only for 10 more minutes. Server "Jay" continues to purposely ignore me and my girlfriend (mind you on her birthday which I wanted to make a special time with) so I take her hand and make us walk out with utter disregard for the place or server "Jay". Service sucks unless you're working class white individuals or Asians. Wrote this specifically so the establishment can make server "Jay" can work on his behaviour for racial equality and avoid anymore embarrassment for their name.
