During the course of our time in NYC for my bachelorette, this was probably one of the highlights of the trip. It was so much fun getting to see the city from a different perspective. Our extended family of 12 wanted to all get together for brunch, and decided to skip the usual hum drum bagels in someone's apartment and make it a day we'd all remember. Captain Paul and his 50 foot sailboat and crew gave us a 3 hour catered brunch in the Hudson we'll never forget. They handled every detail from first phone inquiry to final docking with professionalism and friendly service, yet never intruded in the least with our family dynamics and fun. That privacy as a family to enjoy our kids on deck playing in their sailor hats, the sun and breeze of sailing the Hudson together, photos in front of The Statue of Liberty will be memories for a lifetime. I "won" a trip for four people in a charity auction thinking this would be a ​really fun way to spend an evening, as we so often forget NYC is on the water. The organization and details were perfect. We were text'ed the morning of our trip by Captain Troy with the details we needed and they were perfect. We met at pier 25, went out around the Statue of Liberty and then meandered back after about 2 hours. We also were reminded over and over not to obsess over the weather. Which was amusing and important: you will have a good time on the boat no matter what the weather. Sailing is relaxing with or without a sweatshirt. I guess if I had one wish it would be that we could have full on sailed in the boat, but I get why it is hard to in NY Harbor: the wind comes from the South meaning an exit is beating to windward - this is not the most relaxing thing to do on a Saturday​ evening. Plus it​ means we just​ can go as far given the time. Next time. I am not sure anyone but me wanted to be on the boat for 5-6 hours anyway! HAHA! The boat was lovely and new, Bluetooth​ for your tunes and Troy as not skimpy on the pour for the drinks. We did the 8 ppl Sunset sailing on 12th July 2020 and it was a great experience (first time) to celebrate my husband 50th birthday with our friends together. The captain Mike is very nice bc and welcoming and funny as well and he explains safety guild very well and professional. The chef also server Micheal, he is very nice and the food presentation is great as well. The sailing experience is definitely surprised my husband and his friends and everyone is very enjoy it. However, there was a miscommunication about the passenger minimum, I booked the reservation for 7ppl and also I ordered food and beverage from their kitchen as well and I received the confirmation and credit card receipt right after, it was 3 weeks before the depart date. The day, 6 hrs before we head to the pier, I received a reminder email from the company and it shows I have booked for 8ppl and the food I ordered was all gone so I have to call the company to clarify this problem and the person told me the booking has to be 8 ppl and he didn't know why there is no food order on my booking. I was frustrated at the beginning but eventually the chef Micheal called me and help to figure out the food issue. I suggest the company need to update the web booking that shows the 8-12 ppl sailing has to be 8ppl minimum otherwise the web is showing 7 ppl option on the booking site. read more

First of alll. Thank you for bringing up the fact that your creepy captain has photos of us. The fact that he still has photos on his phone is disturbing. He was taking pictures of us without our consent and made several of my guests feel uncomfortable. Your caption was so fixated on us that the boat started to drift to the shore and he didn't even notice. A lifeguard from the beach had to swim in the water to tell us that we were too close to the shore !!! And why is that ? maybe because your caption was paying to much attention to us and our bodies instead of the boat !! That's alarming that you condone that behavior especially in today's climate. I read other reviews which stated your Captains are perverted and your MANAGMENT is rude, this is obviously true. The bathroom was filthy there is no question about that. I personally didn't go in the bathroom but 2 of my guests did and once I got a chance to speak with them about the event I contacted you immediately. I scheduled an appointment to speak to both Paul and our captain John! which at the time "Paul" you had no issues with speaking poorly about John, which was shocking to me because he was still employed yet, you received a lot of complaints. Then Paul, you mentioned that you would like for John to be fired because "you're tired of his mess". Buyer beware!! My wife bought a gift certificate for my Birthday unfortunately due to extenuating life circumstances, we weren't able to use the gift certificate in the allotted time. The setting was Chelsea Piers at Pier 59 on a stunningly sunny summer early evening, where my wife was greeted with a bouquet of red roses, and their beautiful, luxurious and well maintained 50' sloop Purse Princess picked us up. From that point, think of the Four Seasons Hotel on water with personalized concierge service, with amazing Captain Paul and Five Star Chef Andrew tending to our every need with genuine and authentic courtesy, expertise, and professionalism. Setting our phones via bluetooth to the sloop's on-board wifi helped us customize the music and set the relaxing mood. Captain Paul offered two routes, up the Hudson or down. We selected down and were treated to the most amazing and stunning views of the two skylines of NY & NJ. From Hudson Yards, to Battery Park, to Jersey City and Ellis Island and right up close to the Statue of Liberty. There are no better views of the NYC skyline. During the two hour sail we dined on Fresh Oysters, Shrimp Cocktail, Shrimp Dumplings, Yellowtail Sushi, Chilean Sea Bass and Salmon entrees, and succulent chocolate truffles and chocolate swirl cheesecake, all accompanied by a bottle of Dom Perinon. Just Chef Andrew's amazing kale salad drenched in a to die for reduction sauce was worth the visit, let alone the rest of the Michelin five star meal. To top it off, Captain Paul operated a quad copter drone to capture video footage of the special occasion. This was among the most luxurious and unique experiences we have ever experienced, and we have experienced a lot. Buyer beware. Aggressive rescheduling/cancellation policy and terrible customer service. I booked a marriage proposal charter with sailawayny and the week of the charter my girlfriends grandma passed away and we needed to reschedule. Sailawayny pocketed $1000 from me and told me they would do me the "courtesy" of charging me an additional $350 to reschedule. It also rained the day of the planned trip so it would have had to be rescheduled anyway. I called 4 times each time requesting a call back, but never got one. The emails I sent took literal weeks and multiple attempts to get a reply. If you're going to propose, I would suggest any another company as once Sailawayny has your money they will ignore you and couldn't care less about your situation. Given the surprise nature of these events, their cancellation policy serves to protect them and screw you. The most expensive and frustrating mistake I've ever made. Pick another company to help you propose To the business owner Paul below: "We held your booking for months" I booked it on aug 1, it's August 29... I got to experience this yacht service when I was invited to a birthday party. It was a perfect Saturday afternoon ride around NY. If you're looking for a one of a kind birthday experience - this is it. We had a party of 11 when the yacht could fit 12. There was enough space on our yacht where we didn't feel cramped. You could either sit under the canopy, go downstairs to a couple of seats, or go to the front of the boat - which is the best part because you can lay on a cushion and watch the skyline go by. Great photo opportunities! They make you take your shoes off before you go on the boat so you don't scuff it. You are allowed to bring a second pair of clean shoes/boat shoes, but honestly it was nice to walk around barefoot. I forgot I wasn't wearing shoes honestly lol. The Julia has an small Ice Maker, a fridge,plates and cups and non slip mats for your plates and cups(worth mentioning). If you love ice, bringing a bag wouldn't hurt. Weather was perfect Your allowed to sit inside the Yacht, the back and on the very front. 4 choose to stay in the back my friend an i stood in the front(laid out tanning) after a few drinks. if you get sea sick, definitely bring your medication. i also got to help out with the docking of the yacht. i Would definitely recommend. Planning was so easy. I screwed up the booking and Paul fixed it within a half hour. I had a question later, he answered with an hour. I loved his efficiency. Great trip. Took a 2 hour tour with Captain Matt. He was really chill and happy to tell us about the boat and anything else we could have come up with. Shortly after the trip started my group migrated from the seats in the rear to the front of the boat for incredible views of the city and Statue of Liberty. He also didn't let me cancel so I could accommodate my group on another vessel. Per his email to me the night before "It is only the captions decision to cancel any charter. Again, even if the captain decides to cancel we do not offer refunds". I obviously couldn't take my top clients on a sailboat with pouring rain, so Captain Paul got to keep my $2,000... We were signed up for the sunset cruise tonight for my birthday and instead of calling us to let us know they canceled they sent an email less than 7 hours prior to the tour. When my husband called to see what the deal was they told him another couple canceled that was supposed to be on our tour so they decided to cancel ours too. The boat is beautiful and comfortable. Everything we needed to enjoy the food and champagne we brought with us was provided for (they also give you the option of having them serve you a full meal with wine). I organized a 3 hour private charter (4pm-7pm) for my friend's bachelor party (4 of us), and what a way to kick off the festivities! Communication with Capt Paul was excellent during the planning phase, and the booking process was very easy on their well laid out website. The instructions on finding the marina and advice for how best to enjoy the day were very clear. I paid slightly extra to be picked up from the North Cove Marina, and everything was extremely punctual. Although the menu choices looked great, we decided to bring our own food and beverages from Eataly Downtown, and organized a server to be there on the yacht (she actually called in sick that day but Paul's girlfriend and young daughter came onboard to look after us and they did an excellent job! - thanks girls!) The weather was perfect. Unfortunately it was too windy to break out the sails, but it was still extremely relaxing and such an escape from the craziness that is NYC. Even though we weren't far from home, it really felt like we were on vacation. We cruised to Lady Liberty first, took some photos, then went up the hudson as Paul recommended that to be the calmest route for the day. I've been out on the hudson river before, but not like this! The yacht was extremely comfortable, clean and luxurious, with a seating area near the cockpit with a table for us to enjoy our well presented food and drinks, and we could also go out to the front of the yacht and sit out on the provided cushions which was awesome. We also hooked up music via bluetooth to the surround sound system which was a nice touch. Definitely make a relaxing playlist to enhance the experience before you go. We certainly did. And when the music stopped it was also great to enjoy the natural serenity. 3 hours was a great amount of time and I feel like 2 hours might have been a bit short - if you're going to splash out on a private charter you might as well have the time to enjoy it! We did this for a bachelorette party excursion. Captain Paul and his first mate were very accommodating, kind and helpful. It was windy (April) but we got a spectacular sunset and enjoyed our sail. In particular, if you have a large group for a private event, sail away is perfect. read more

We took my 88 year old father and 18 month old grandson to NYC for my daughter's graduation from med school. We booked an afternoon sail with Captain Paul for our first day in the city. What a treat!! The boat is beautiful, Captain Paul is an excellent host/city guide and the experience is a "once in a lifetime"! Wonderful time with Captain Paul despite the bad weather I booked the boat for my family who was visiting from France for my mother's 70th birthday. Unfortunately, the weather was bad as it was raining, but the boat was all set so we could still be seated outside on the deck, with plastic protections around us so we didn't get wet at all. My father is 90 but was safely helped on the boat without any problem. We were 8 adults and 1 child, and were all very comfortably seated around the table. It was lunchtime so I had ordered a few things to eat from the boat and brought salads and a birthday cake, as well as wine and champagne. 2 people were taking care of bringing the food and drinks upstairs so we didn't have to worry about service at all, which was great. We sailed for 2 hours from the North Cove Marina towards the Statue of Liberty and up to the Brooklyn Bridge, and back. Captain Paul was very knowledgeable about the area and taught us many interesting things. He also told us about all the proposals that have happened on his boat, which was a lot of fun. My family was absolutely thrilled and although we were really unlucky with the weather (sun was shining the day before and after the cruise!), we had a wonderful time.
