    Fresh juice for mimosa

I loved this mimosa tasting ,along with the amazing stories of Sailor and the doc .the fruit is from California and no pesticides. So delicious and amazing experience.

This is a truly awesome event space, and I will write a review about the bookstore here next time. New spaces like Abe's (which I believe serves food) will be moving in, and Que Bella Bakery is in here as well. Moreover, there are vacant spots (there used to be a honey milk tea place) so expect new businesses to be available soon. Definitely check this place out!

I absolutely love spaces like Sailor & the Dock. It's a 100 year old warehouse downtown that was remodeled and repurposed to be a hub for arts and small businesses. It's a super cool and unique space for events and the coolest thing is that everything they do is eco-conscious. The first time I heard about the space was when I was looking at potential dance venues. They host a monthly social every fourth Friday and I was able to attend. A lot of the shops were closed since it was late, but they all look amazing. There's a bookshop, a bulk refill shop, a plant store, a coffee house, bakery, boutique and even a crystal shop. I look forward to returning when they are open. They also have pop up vendors every Saturday and Sunday. The founder was welcoming everyone as they were coming in the door, which was a super nice gesture, especially for those of us who hadn't been there before. He generously gave me a tour and showed me the spaces that are available for events. In the middle of the space there's a sailboat, which I realized later, is the bar! That's hands down the coolest bar I've ever seen. They don't serve hard liquor but they serve healthy mocktails with fresh ingredients, local beer and selected wine. Their website has more information about leasing for various options and applications for each. They seem to provide a lot of support and resources to its tenants. The space in the back where the dance social was also has a big garage door which can remain open during cool days. Check out their amazing lineup of events on their site. There's always something fun going on.

The problems started literally seconds before the bride walked down the aisle when the venue manager stopped her to warn that the wedding would be shut down if any more alcohol was found. The alcohol in question was a sealed bottle discovered inside a backpack after venue staff/security conducted what many guests felt was an unnecessary and inappropriate search. Regardless of venue rules, confronting an emotional bride at that exact moment was unbelievably unprofessional and immediately created tension. After the ceremony, everyone complied with instructions and removed anything questionable. Despite that, venue staff and security continued searching vehicles and going through personal belongings in both suites without guests' knowledge or consent. The bride and groom were later pulled away from their reception because security claimed they overheard guests talking about alcohol in a trunk. The entire situation ultimately turned out to be about guests grabbing Black Cherry High Noons for the bar while someone changed shoes in their car. Guests were repeatedly harassed throughout the evening. One grandmother was followed to her car by security while buckling in her grandkids. Another guest was stopped from re-entering unless his vehicle was searched because of an energy drink. To make matters worse, staff began pushing cleanup over an hour before the contracted end time despite a cleaning fee already being paid, leaving family and guests cleaning tables and trash themselves. The entire night the venue staff felt hostile, discomforting, and wildly unprofessional. Rules are one thing, but repeatedly disrupting the reception, searching personal belongings, harassing guests, and creating this level of tension was completely unacceptable. I would never recommend this venue after what I witnessed.

So I really love it when I find a new space that I really don't think anyone knows about. I attended a luncheon here last week, put on my Leadership Oklahoma and featuring several downtown experts talking about new trends in downtown. The owner of the building did a little introduction and talked to us about the room we were in, and how it is newly available to be rented. I think this is such a great idea. The company probably routinely needs a large space for trainings, seminars, and company-wide events and meals. So, the top floor of their building is a big, empty room with A/V capabilities. It has large windows overlooking Bricktown and Downtown, and a big outdoor area that's also available. The floors are polished concrete and the walls are exposed, rough hewn brick, so basically a blank canvas for events, weddings, parties and more. It's such a cool location, and such a nice space. I'm happy to have one more place on my list to suggest to people when it's time.

I loved Park House the restaurant, and had many fun times there, but I do think that this spot being an Events Center is its rightful place as a treasure in our city. Architecturally, this place is so beautiful, and also such a great set up for an event location. The bar area is naturally separate from the rest of the restaurant, so a cocktail hour is easily contained within the bar and cocktail area. When it was time to open up the assigned seating, which fanned out from a fun dance floor and DJ area in the middle of the room, we found our seats easily and could see the head table and all the action on the dance floor. Offering a panoramic view of the Myriad Gardens and the city beyond, you get both the view of the park and all it's natural beauty, plus a view of the Colcord, the Devon tower and the rest of the city beyond. I can't think of any other place in the city where you can find such a perfect mix of natural and manmade beauty nearly everywhere you like. If you're a little bit country and she's a little bit rock and roll, this is the wedding and reception venue of your dreams. Add to that features like a great set up for guest drop off and valet parking, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better location for private events in OKC.

And then, you know the wash of relief you feel when they ask you questions only they would think to ask.... "Hey there, I know you mentioned carafes for water, but they weren't on your list, do you still need those..." These are the types of people for whom it would seem their sole purpose in life is to make hostesses around town just look really good. And that they do. But not just for the pros (or semi-pros, as I consider myself)... Anyone can look like a planning whiz with the help of Brian, Robert, Christina, and Kelsey at 110 Events and Rentals. There are other awesome peeps there, but these are the ones I know. Planning a wedding? A class reunion? An anniversary party for your folks? Helping your favorite non-profit plan a fundraiser? You can benefit not only from their experience and expertise, but also from their big ol' brain, full of cool ideas. That big bank of ideas is backed up by a huge, amazing warehouse full of treasures! Western party? Check. But you'd expect that in Oklahoma. Just keep walking. Disco party, astronaut party? Aliens, wild animals? Dorothy, Alice in Wonderland. Time travel, Victorian, tons of rustic chic. 80s. Loads of midcentury. Lots of cool props that actually work. In short, I left there with enough Yelper party ideas to keep me in this gig until I'm 70. Seriously though: amazing props and features. Beautiful linens and all manner of lovely tabletop and glassware. Centerpieces and lighting of your dreams. But none of that would matter, if it weren't for the people who work there. They are so lovely and fun to get to work with! I highly recommend!

We spent about three hours exploring Mix-Tape and still felt like we could have discovered even more. Every room is filled with hidden details, secret passageways, interactive elements, music, lights, and artwork that constantly encourages you to slow down and look a little closer. The experience is whimsical, nostalgic, and surprisingly thought-provoking all at the same time. One of the things I appreciated most was learning about the mission behind Factory Obscura. The exhibit isn't just beautiful--it was created by local artists who are supported for their work. Knowing that the installation continues to evolve with contributions from more than 100 artists made me appreciate every room even more. As a travel photographer, I loved photographing the exhibit. Every corner offered a completely different color palette, texture, or composition. The special diffraction glasses they provide make the lighting even more magical, so don't skip using them while you explore. My advice? Wear comfortable shoes, plan for at least 2-3 hours, and don't rush through it. Open every drawer, look through every little window, touch everything you're allowed to touch, and if you're able, crawl through the hidden passages--you'll discover details most people walk right past. Whether you're traveling with kids, visiting as a couple, hanging out with friends, or exploring solo, Factory Obscura is one of the most creative and memorable attractions we've experienced.
