This is a truly awesome event space, and I will write a review about the bookstore here next time. New spaces like Abe's (which I believe serves food) will be moving in, and Que Bella Bakery is in here as well. Moreover, there are vacant spots (there used to be a honey milk tea place) so expect new businesses to be available soon. Definitely check this place out!

I absolutely love spaces like Sailor & the Dock. It's a 100 year old warehouse downtown that was remodeled and repurposed to be a hub for arts and small businesses. It's a super cool and unique space for events and the coolest thing is that everything they do is eco-conscious. The first time I heard about the space was when I was looking at potential dance venues. They host a monthly social every fourth Friday and I was able to attend. A lot of the shops were closed since it was late, but they all look amazing. There's a bookshop, a bulk refill shop, a plant store, a coffee house, bakery, boutique and even a crystal shop. I look forward to returning when they are open. They also have pop up vendors every Saturday and Sunday. The founder was welcoming everyone as they were coming in the door, which was a super nice gesture, especially for those of us who hadn't been there before. He generously gave me a tour and showed me the spaces that are available for events. In the middle of the space there's a sailboat, which I realized later, is the bar! That's hands down the coolest bar I've ever seen. They don't serve hard liquor but they serve healthy mocktails with fresh ingredients, local beer and selected wine. Their website has more information about leasing for various options and applications for each. They seem to provide a lot of support and resources to its tenants. The space in the back where the dance social was also has a big garage door which can remain open during cool days. Check out their amazing lineup of events on their site. There's always something fun going on.

Guests were being questioned, followed around, and treated like criminals over rumors and assumptions. Staff interrupted important moments of the ceremony and repeatedly pulled the bride and groom away from their guests instead of handling concerns professionally and discreetly. Several guests were confronted about their vehicles and personal belongings in a way that felt invasive and intimidating. Families with children were made uncomfortable, and the overall atmosphere became tense and hostile because of how aggressively the situation was handled. What should have been a joyful wedding turned into an evening full of stress and drama caused almost entirely by the venue staff. There are far better venues out there that know how to treat paying customers and wedding guests with respect. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, professional wedding experience.

So I really love it when I find a new space that I really don't think anyone knows about. I attended a luncheon here last week, put on my Leadership Oklahoma and featuring several downtown experts talking about new trends in downtown. The owner of the building did a little introduction and talked to us about the room we were in, and how it is newly available to be rented. I think this is such a great idea. The company probably routinely needs a large space for trainings, seminars, and company-wide events and meals. So, the top floor of their building is a big, empty room with A/V capabilities. It has large windows overlooking Bricktown and Downtown, and a big outdoor area that's also available. The floors are polished concrete and the walls are exposed, rough hewn brick, so basically a blank canvas for events, weddings, parties and more. It's such a cool location, and such a nice space. I'm happy to have one more place on my list to suggest to people when it's time.

I loved Park House the restaurant, and had many fun times there, but I do think that this spot being an Events Center is its rightful place as a treasure in our city. Architecturally, this place is so beautiful, and also such a great set up for an event location. The bar area is naturally separate from the rest of the restaurant, so a cocktail hour is easily contained within the bar and cocktail area. When it was time to open up the assigned seating, which fanned out from a fun dance floor and DJ area in the middle of the room, we found our seats easily and could see the head table and all the action on the dance floor. Offering a panoramic view of the Myriad Gardens and the city beyond, you get both the view of the park and all it's natural beauty, plus a view of the Colcord, the Devon tower and the rest of the city beyond. I can't think of any other place in the city where you can find such a perfect mix of natural and manmade beauty nearly everywhere you like. If you're a little bit country and she's a little bit rock and roll, this is the wedding and reception venue of your dreams. Add to that features like a great set up for guest drop off and valet parking, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better location for private events in OKC.

The venue was incredible: lots of seating options for groups to individuals, easily navigable, decor was rustic and filled with tongue-in-cheek humor, and % classy! They also had plenty of outside seating for individuals and groups as well as a cutely light gazebo...this would be a wonderful location for a smaller, more intimate wedding or celebration of any kind. (Not sure if they allow outside food/catering, but the owners seem very accommodating.) Great place to have a date night, meet with friends, or have an after work hang with coworkers. Additionally, they have merch by local artists and they make their own wines, so I'm a huge fan. Really enjoyed their Petite Sirah, Cab Sav, and surprisingly the Prairie Flame (an off dry wine). The owners were absolutely delightful, lovely and personable, and they made a point of getting to know all the guests. Their story is incredible as well...be sure to ask them when you go! "Hey there, I know you mentioned carafes for water, but they weren't on your list, do you still need those..." There are other awesome peeps there, but these are the ones I know. Planning a wedding? A class reunion? An anniversary party for your folks? Helping your favorite non-profit plan a fundraiser? You can benefit not only from their experience and expertise, but also from their big ol' brain, full of cool ideas. That big bank of ideas is backed up by a huge, amazing warehouse full of treasures! Western party? Check. But you'd expect that in Oklahoma. Just keep walking. Disco party, astronaut party? They are so lovely and fun to get to work with! I highly recommend!
