Super excited for this painting activity. The location is in a busy artsy neighborhood. So the parking is a problem. I suggest arriving early to get a spot. I was running alittle behind but was able to secure a unpaid spot around the corner. Walking up to the entrance was alittle dicey as I didn't know which door to open or which direction to go upon entering. Once inside, I was greeted quickly and offered a mimosa. The actual painting area was pretty small and finding a seat for (3) alittle tricky.. again arrive early for seating. My party of three kinda watched what others were doing and followed suit as far as getting apron, paint and setting up brushes. Once the facilitator arrived she was bubbly and patient helping everyone get started. I can't say I'm the best painter but the atmosphere was lively and fun. I've walked by Paint N' Cheers (PNC) several times (when heading to The Press) and it never even caught my eye (my peripheral vision is trash, it seems). A recent work team building thing brought me here, and I got to experience the whole thing (minus the "N' Cheers" part, because, you know... work event, so we were just there for the "Paint" part). The painting instructor dude (I looked him up, his name is Adam) made the whole experience. Like, imagine that you're being guided in the painting process by Bob Ross, where he's telling you to just go with the flow, and that mistakes can be easily fixed. But now imagine that Bob Ross is also maybe a little high, and chock-full of bawdy innuendos, crass jokes (double entendres from start-to-finish). He was deadpan in his delivery, which made it funnier. I dunno if he's like that during every session, but if he is, then consider this a warning: this may not be your jam if you're kind of a pearl-clutcher about profanity and adult humor. Not that it's bad to be sensitive to those things (despite my "pearl-clutcher" comment). Just be aware that it may be a package deal. My only issue was that some of the instructions at the beginning were vague. It resulted in me not using certain brushes until the end, and I was kinda annoyed knowing the first part could have been done better if that was communicated earlier; if I had known at the beginning what he explained about 85% of the way through, I would have been much happier with the final product. Also, the music selection was fantastic. There was one song that I heard that I was like "yoo this is bangin'!" I looked it up, found it, but then forgot to save it to my playlist, and now I don't know the name of the band, and I've been sad about it ever since. I probably won't ever put up what I painted though... Because it's not just my parents that are perpetually disappointed with me. read more

A steady 5 star rating is the norm for this place and for the most part I can see why. However, there were 4 of us who thought it would a be different and fun activity for adults. It was upbeat with the music and the energy projected by Adam. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is because, while sadly, it is the norm in our society and doesn't faze most people under a certain age, it shouldn't be assumed that just because it is adults and regardless of their age, using the "f-word" and other profanity throughout his presentation wouldn't offend anyone. Additionally, it was very uncomfortable listening to a song which consistently repeated a crass nickname for a female body part. The only other thing was that it is a small space and you're very close to people sitting beside you. I would definitely recommend this as a fun activity to try, but I would also add a disclaimer with my recommendation. read more

Instead of politely rescheduling, Adam refunded us with an extremely rude message saying "Do not buy tickets to my event ever again. Everyone has COVID." Had a GREAT time here! I thought I would need a groupon for an event like this but the price was perfect. The wine and beer selection is plentiful here. They sell wine by the bottle so no need for a groupon really. We made dinner at home knowing we paid a bit extra for the painting on the weekend event and planned to pay for a bottle of wine at the event. A bottle of Riesling cost us $25. Not bad. We received a text prior to the class about parking to help us plan so that was great! The class itself was so much fun. I've attended these types of paint classes before and I would definitely say this one rates one of the highest. It was great!! Please support this business and support our plaza district. Adam was funny and his humor really made the evening more fun. I have ZERO artistic skills in my body and I was a bit concerned my painting would look terrible but his instructions were good and everything turned out alright. Brought my mom here for Mother's Day 2014, and it was a great time. The lead artist/owner was very kind and always had a smile on his face. Everyone was guided with patience and care. The location is very cool, and had plenty of room for artistry. They had two different rooms available which I guess would be to cater to two different parties. They offer drinks if you want, and you are also able to bring your own. If you forget to bring glasses and a bottle opener then they will provide you with some as well. the lesson was discussed briefly and locations for more paint were disclosed in case you needed more after you got started. Everyone had adequate elbow room for painting and lighting was no issue. The parking wasn't bad on this day, but it is the plaza district, so you know what's up with parking if you've been to this area. read more

This is a perfect place for a girls day or night! I went on Sunday for Bottomless Mimosas and Painting! It is great for you and your BFF or a whole group! Today there was three of us that went and we just so happen to have been the only ones there (first time this has happened normally the classes are full). With it being just us they treated us like queens! They went above and beyond to make this a great experience! Being strong teachers when we had messed up and got us on track or just jamming out to the music as we all painted!! I recommend this to everyone! This is a great activity that I would recommend, for all ages really. The staff are great at explaining exactly what you need to do, and of course the focus is all about having a good time. Bonus points: compared to other wine and paint-type experiences, the music here is way better (in my opinion). I would highly recommend signing up for a bottomless mimosa or sangria class. They'll keep you filled all throughout! Be sure to book in advance, especially if you want a bottomless drink class. They fill up! read more

Every year, I book a paint night for 50 people to enjoy. Paint-N-Cheers brings high energy, fun, easy to follow instruction to this annual event. By far THE BEST painting place I have ever been. The gentleman in charge is the best instructor, and is,not constantly hovering over you like some other places are. This place is so fun that my friends and I were already trying to plan to come back before it was half way over. The best thing about this place is that they change up their art constantly, so you can actually be a regular. For $35 per person, I believe it's definitely go to place if your bored and just want something to do for a date, a girls night out or just a solo outing. They played a variety of music for everyone and it was pretty upbeat, which I definitely appreciated. If you're in a small group like 2, 3 or 4 buy a bottle of wine instead of a cup, it equals out. I scheduled a very fun and exciting night out with my fiancée to this establishment for a painting class. Unfortunately he and I both woke up that morning with high fevers, chills, etc. I contacted the owner to see what we could do, considering illness, and he was rude and short with me. Giving us no alternative. The day after, my fiancée tested positive for Covid, so I feel it was only responsible that we had to reschedule last minute. This seems like a fun place, but if you feel you may become sick, with anything, don't book. Because he has no flexibility after the 48 before the class. Which who knows they might be or not be sick the day of? Business nowadays, during a pandemic, should understand the impact of Covid and work around it. But he did not. I will never go back. He sucked in $70 for the both of us with no alternative. I do not recommend unless you know you will ALWAYS feel great. read more

I booked a private event for my sister's bachelorette party. She's loves otters and they had the perfect painting for it! It can be a little pricier if you book a private event and don't bring the minimum amount of people, but they were completely transparent about it and in the end it was my choice...and so worth it! The classes seem to be totally reasonably priced. My sister is actually hoping to plan a date night with her husband and attend one of the classes. Success! I know if I'm ever in the area again and have the creative itch, I'm coming back here! The instructor was amazing, friendly, and helped us each step of the way. Sooooo I was really excited about this place. I drove from Houston to celebrate a late Mothers Day with my mom. When I called this morning Adam was super nice. We walked in the door with sno cones we had just bought and the lady at the corner "ummm we're not going to be able to do those outside drinks" her tone was way too tough for me. She made us stand outside of the class until we downed our sno cones. I guess if you aren't purchasing drinks from them then you can't have them! Which is crazy because you can bring your own food and snacks. Like seriously we spent $140 to come paint and we can't bring a $4 sno cone! If she would have politely said "I'm sorry we don't allow outside drinks" it would have been a bit different. It's not what you say but how you say it. Plus alllllll the painting places I've ever been to you can bring drinks, but ok. Fast forward...the same lady is teaching the class! It was like she forgot she was teaching and was in a room painting by herself. We had to continue to ask questions because she was in her own zone and not explaining what she was doing (unless we asked). I'm used to the instructors engaging more.
