My wife and I recently went in on a weekday afternoon to help my elderly father-in-law find a suit for his son's wedding coming up in about a month. We were there for over a half hour looking around and while it's nice to be able to browse without employees pestering you, to not acknowledge you at all felt a little rude. Did we not looked well dressed enough? I was in fact, wearing a suit as my wife and I had just come from performing music for a wedding! We were planning to spend $300-500... My father-in-law didn't know his suit size so my wife was helping him try on different sizes, colors, etc and they started to zero in on a particular suit jacket. This was of course still without any acknowledgment from the guy working there. Granted, there were two other customers hanging around who seemed to be picking up suits they'd had tailored, but they too seemed to mostly just standing there for a long time. Eventually, my wife tried to engage with the employee, asking about options for pants to pair with the jacket as we couldn't seem to find any on the racks. He quickly came over and looked at the same rack we'd been looking at, said that it looks like they don't have any options, and left. Maybe that was indeed the case, but good customer service would have at least asked if we'd like him to look on the computer for something that could be sent over or ordered, or maybe suggest some other options? My wife was going to ask but the guy's body language gave no invitation so she started looking on the men's warehouse site on her phone. The jacket didn't have a tag offering much info and the whole thing was getting so frustrating we left the store and went to Macy's where within a few minutes her dad was being measured for a suit. Within 15 minutes he had the entire ensemble together, including a nice shirt, a beautifully matched tie, and the incredibly respectful and helpful employee over there had even introduced my wife and I to the store manager with the idea of having us booked to play music for a Christmas event. Yeah, maybe just go there! Other Men's Warehouse locations have been great, but I don't see a reason to ever return to this one.

Hehe. So I went to Monterey today and did a little sight-seeing and lunch. While coming from Cannery Row back to parking, I caught a glimpse of this store, right near Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. "Hmm, imma check this one out." me thought. Lo and behold the scent of a thousand Vishnus! The moment I entered the store, the scent of incense hit me right away. Very very aromatic. Upon entrance, I saw a lot of Middle-Eastern fashioned clothing for women, mostly. A lot of colorful ethnic shoulder bags and knitted scarves. I was able to hold myself from asking the gentleman who seemed to be the owner, the price for one of the bags. It looked very colorful, with a unique design. I was pretty sure the people at work would think it was an ugly-looking bag BUT my Indian friends will definitely love it. Also, I ALMOST bought a belly-dancing skirt. First of all, I don't belly dance, second, even if I did, I had enough belly jelly to wiggle when I dance. The belly dancing skirts were 50% off...Holy Shiva! Om Rhythms was playing some kind of Hindu-trance music kinda. It blended so well with the smell of the incense. I walk towards the other end of the store and see that they have plenty of brass bowls. You know, the kind that produces this surround-sound ringing when sweeping pressure is applied around the rim. Alllllmost bought one for $130. They also have character figures of the Hindu gods and scented candles. They even have incense sticks that are cannabis-scented! I'm sure I didn't have the urge to buy that. So lots of ethnic clothes, ethnic jewelry (pretty!) and Hindu symbols, including Shiva and Vishnu. Brass bowls, bells, knitted items... The gentleman who was there was very calm and nice. When I walked into the store, I had to ask him what the store's name was (so I can check in at Yelp) and he said something like "omriddum"... I may have appeared perplexed although I said "Oh OK!" that's why he left shortly and brought back a business card. So nice! Prices of the goods vary from cheap to pricey. Had the brass bowls been between $20-$40, I might probably be ringing the whole neighborhood now. Those brass bowls are super keeeewl! The gentleman didn't even complain or say anything about how I lingered in the brass bowl area and not buy anything! With that said, I am surely coming back to this store. When I do, imma buy that bowl. Word.
