This is the place to come if you have a hangover and need some breakfast stodge to soak up fumes. In particular its great in the summer when you can sit outside the front of the ivy-covered building on the flagstone courtyard and read the Sundays. Saints & Scholars is famed for its large all-day breakfasts, and I can attest, you can't really beat them, from scrambled eggs and salmon to bagels and fry-ups. Apart from the breakfasts, the rest of the menu reads like the best of Mama's Home Cooking: pies, casseroles, hot sandwiches, teas, coffees, cakes. The only thing I would say is sometimes the service is a bit hit and miss, I'd like to see the staff perhaps be a little more flexible of requests, there have been occasions where I've asked for a modification to a dish and haven't accommodated.

I have never eaten here, and if I'm completely honest, don't really have any desire to, because I do see this place as a sophisticated, beautiful 'bar', with sophisticated, beautiful 'beverages'. I have however, heard good things about the Sunday roast in particular if that's what you're after. Now onto the best bit, the cocktails. The staff are well trained here, and definitely know what they're doing in terms of making a good drink. The menu has been designed to cater for the mass market, but not in the "lets just stick a load of sugar syrup" way that most places do. I've sampled a fair few off their menu, my favourite being the "hello sailor" which comprises of sailor jerry rum, cinnamon, apple juice (and something else that my rum-fuelled brain can't remember). Absolutely delicious. It's a great little place, with knowledgeable and friendly staff, a soft warm ambience, and great drinks. I'm donning the flat shoes in future to make the short walk to greet my rum-flavoured seaman. Hello sailor.

Unfortunately I had to downgrade my review quite considerably…read more We returned here quite recently as I always found it to be a great place to go to cater for all sorts of people. They used to offer burgers, seafood, meat, salads and a special board but now it is just primarily Burgers, hotdogs and two types of steak. I was quite stuck what to have and so eventually chose the satay burger, himself another sort of burger..anyhoo I upgraded to haloumi fries as these were a past favourite along with mac n cheese balls. The service was very slow but friendly. Eventually I asked for a passion fruit margarita himself a flat white. My cocktail was very tart his was a good coffee apparently. Anyway the food arrived and the mac n cheese balls tasted frozen not homemade along with the fries.. I had frozen fries with haloumi sticks on top..I said I had upgraded to haloumi fries these were replaced with my now cold burger and just haloumi sticks which were like rubber. The satay sauce was weak and the burgers..again not fresh.. I left most of my meal. We were partially refunded but it left a bad taste in my mouth..such a shame to see such a decline in quality after coming here since they opened.

This is a pretty big building so the one advantage it has over the original Solita is the ability to book a table for less than 6 people and not have to worry about a long wait. I went with a couple of friends on a Monday night just a few days after it had officially opened and obviously the news had travelled fast that it was open as it was absolutely packed. We had a ten minute wait at the bar before our table was ready which wasn't a problem for us as we were happy to have a drink and a chat, although it did take ten minutes for my glass of wine to appear as they couldn't find a corkscrew! The guy behind the bar was super apologetic and quite embarrassed by it so I'll put it down to teething problems.... The menu here is the same as Solita NQ so expect lots of mammoth burgers and dishes that will generally induce a heart attack just from reading the description. If you're veggie or watching your weight this probably isn't the place for you. Luckily neither me or my friends had those issues so we went for the bacon fat popcorn and rooster scratching to start and then all had burgers for our main. I had the KFB which was cooked perfectly pink and generously topped with 'Kentucky Fried Bacon' - YUM! One of my friends was brave enough to go for the 'Once In A Lifetime' burger which was almost as big as her head and obviously delicious and she polished it off without leaving a crumb! Service was really relaxed and friendly and the girl looking after us was a natural. She even managed to retain a sense of humour a huge smile on her face when we were messing round with the bill for what seemed like forever! I couldn't eat here all the time as it really is guilty pleasure food but but it's a great place to meet with friends for a relaxed bite to eat and a few drinks. I actually think I'd choose this Solita over the old favourite now too, especially with the ease of booking and parking if you need to. Love the decor too!

I took my parents here one Saturday afternoon for a little sit down and a hot drink after exploring the local shops. My Dad and I ordered a latte each and my Mum ordered a pot of peppermint tea. Both lattes came out at the perfect temperature and with a good amount of frothy milk on the top. Sadly, the pot of tea my Mum had ordered was a used pot of tea and was therefore half full and stone cold. It seems that one waitress had cleaned off another table and placed the finished with tea pot next to the freshly brewed one, so the wrong one was accidentally bought over. The staff were so apologetic and immediately bought over the actual freshly made pot of tea as soon as we noticed. After that minor mishap, everything ran smoothly and everything tasted just right. I really enjoyed the simplistic style with a few pieces of quirky artwork dotted on the walls. I'd say there's a kind of nautical theme running throughout the café, as there's ropes hanging from the ceiling and a few other seaside/fishing type items dotted around. All very cute and trendy. I'd recommend Rustik to anyone in the area, it's the perfect place (not at all like a standard high street coffee shop) to stop and have a quick drink. Also, the tables are spaced out, so you can enjoy a nice chat or catch up with friends or family without feeling like you're being listened in on.

I've walked past here on numerous occasions and it's always been busy so I can't believe that I'd never thought of giving it a try. We had to wait a few minutes for a table, but it was obvious that the staff were trying their hardest to clear tables and get people seated as quickly as possibly. Due to the cafe being so busy we expected to wait a while to be served but after a few minutes someone came over to take our order. We also didn't have to wait very long for our food to arrive either - the kitchen staff were clearly running around like headless chickens, but the food came out looking like a piece of art on the plate. I ordered eggs Benedict royal which has salmon in place the of the ham and my friend had normal eggs Benedict. All of the eggs were runny in the middle and the sauce was to die for. The portion sizes were great as well, we were both happily full afterwards. After sitting and chatting for a while whilst drinking tea, we saw a few people ordering slices of cake, the cake looked delicious so we headed over to the counter to have a look at the options. There was a good selection of around 6 different cakes. I opted for the banoffee pie and I'm so glad I did. Each mouthful was a little taste of heaven - crunchy base, creamy topping and a flavoursome banoffee filling with little chunks of banana. Yum. The only fault I can give is the name of this place - its not really a 'deli' more of an italian themed coffee shop, apart from that, it was absolutely amazing. The staff were friendly, the food was of exceptional quality and the menu was pretty big too so there's plenty more things to try on my next visits.

The food is marvellous, the drinks range wide enough. It's as if someone airlifted a bar from the northern quarter and dropped it in the middle of fallowfield for my convenience. Another amazing thing about this place is most non-students won't venture here because it's nicely tucked away, hidden behind the hullabaloo of wilmslow road. Others will probably be put off by its awkward location at the end of a road full of terraced student houses. But if you can look past the studenty atmosphere you'll realise that actually a lot of the punters are either older students or local young professionals. I just love the decor and layout of the whole place. From the small intimate dining/cafe/bar area downstairs, to the live music bar and terrace upstairs. It's a real hidden gem of fallowfield. I've been coming to live music nights here for a while and discovered Glass Tides (my favourite Manchester band) here. So the place holds a special place in my heart. Love it and so will you.
