I just found out that Saks is closing and I am a little sad about this even though I think I have only made a few purchases here. Back in 2006 I bought my first designer bag here and I felt so proud of myself. Now I have different priorities for where my money goes but I still enjoy walking through and seeing all the pretty things walking through to the play area. Everyone has always been friendly, even when my son was having a complete meltdown in the middle of the store. I am been a customer for years and recently had a bad experience after buying an item online from Saks. I was told to return it at my Columbus, Ohio store and they would not accept it-- even though I was told to return it to the store for an exchange. Customer service then told me send a picture proving it was damaged after I showed it store staff. I now have to send it via mail and this experience has taken me all afternoon. As a long time Saks customer in Columbus and NYC, I will not be doing business with Saks for Christmas 2025 and in the future. I am shopping at Neiman Marcus going forward. We are pretty bummed that most retail stores are closed so we were excited that this particular location accepts returns at their store front. I didn't want to have to go to a UPS locations with a pre-paid label to return the item. This process was fairly simple, we called the store, told them we were out front, and they came out to greet us for the return. The line was pretty long actually and I only saw one employee come out to each car. We waited about 15 minutes to make our return but the employee was super friendly. We were the last one in line and we got to chat a bit about the current quarantine and how it is affecting the business. Overall it was a pleasant experience and their customer service was outstanding. This type of interaction is exactly what you would expect during this outbreak. Nice job Saks! read more

Yikes, what a terrible experience. My sister and I were shopping around for new purses and after not finding what we were looking for at other spots at Polaris Fashion Place, we decided to see what they had here. We even had a $500 gift card specifically for Saks so we thought, why not. We were looking to splurge a little. For one, I never come here because the clothing looks like it came from an 80's catalog. It's simply not stylish in the least. Very dated and clearly not for two ladies in their early thirties. That being said, they do have a nice bag selection. We made our way there because it's the only thing we were looking for and started to browse around. We were looking for something specific, a smaller sized bone colored purse with gold accessories, not silver. Yes, we're very particular. That's when a young gentleman came over and asked if we needed any help. We described what we were looking for and after showing us a few that looked nothing like we described, he said they didn't have anything. We continued to look around and chat with the fella. That's when a Saks security guard or mall cop, I'm not sure which, proceeded to walk up and stand between us and the sales representative and just stared with his arms crossed. I even asked if something was wrong, because he clearly made it seem like there was. No response, just a stare. Not only did that make us super uncomfortable but we'll never be coming back here again. I was so mad I wanted to speak to a manager but instead we took our money elsewhere and who knows if we'll use that gift card. I didn't buy anything in the store as I was walking through it ironically for the very first time just to get to Bath and Body Works. From the time that I walked into the store and KUDOS to heightened security and police officers because of random shootings, that was pleasant. Even though I was walking through like I said, every retail salesperson greeted me with a "hello and how are you today?" Honestly, that's not common unless you're standing at their section or counter waiting to be served. I would like to go on notice that I LOVE positive interaction period. There's a few items that I did see plus makeup that I can purchase there. Saks is quickly going downhill. The YELP hours say "Open until 9:00 pm EST on Saturday", December 11th. I get there at 7:20 pm EST and there is a police officer at the front door apologizing and saying they're closed. What major department store closes at 7:00 pm EST 14 days prior to Christmas? What planet are you on? There are scores of people coming to your door and they're being turned away. I made a special trip to come and picked up my suit which has taken four weeks for alterations. Now I have to come back again another day and time. Saks' USED to be my go to place for clothing. My purchases have diminished and after this experience, they're trending to ZERO. Ugh, idk if the selection of women's clothes is super small because of the renovations they're doing here or what but there isn't much to choose to from. I went here looking for an outfit for an event at the statehouse and was a little put off by the time I left. The lady working there is ...we'll I think she was trying to be helpful but it just came off all wrong. Their clothes run a little small so most of the dresses I picked up in my normal size didn't fit. I had already had a dress on and zipped up when she came by and I asked for help unzipping it. Idk if she didn't understand me but she kept telling me I needed a bigger size and I was too big for the dress. I kept trying to explain to her I already had the dress zipped up and didn't want it because it showed too much cleavage. 5 minutes of listening to this lady politely call me fat I was finally able to get her to help me unzip the dress. Apparently I am one of the few who doesn't think that Saks Fifth Avenue is so great. I am not usually one to be so finicky, but I must say that I have never been treated more rudely or with such disinterest in my life. Correct me if I'm wrong, but most working at Sak's ARE indeed in the retail industry and should have a substantial amount of people skills and interest in serving the general public, right? Because I'm confused. Speaking frankly, I believe the service at Saks Polaris is dodgey and the products I'd rather purchase elsewhere as I feel my money and presence would be more appreciated. The service in some departments is lacking. In fact, I've written many a letter to the manager of this store about my concerns. There were 2 experiences that remind why Saks leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. 1. They judge you on how you're dressed. I came in last winter wearing a Carhartt jacket, jeans and yellow converse sneakers. I needed a formal long coat so I headed upstairs. Well, there were two employees who saw me and should have helped me, especially since i was the only one shopping!! I actually had to go over and ask for assistance. Then, the lady told me I would probably find something more to my liking at Meijer or Walmart. What she didn't know is that I wanted the Burberry trench with the extra lining..I just needed my size off the taller wall rack. After her rude comment though, I turned around and marched out. 2. They judge you in general. Even when I go in wearing True Religion jeans and Ed hardy sneakers it takes forever to get help! I wanted a new purse and so I was simply feeling out the merchandise...merchandise I intended on purchasing. This lady had seen me the whole time and now that I'm touching things, she wants to know what I'm doing. I told her I was fine and didn't need her help. Some other girl about my age walks in wearing D&G sunglasses and carrying a fake LV bag. The sales lady nearly trips over herself running to help her. So I went to the perfume counter and explained the situation. She got the manager who threw in a gift card, apologized and rang me out himself. Ridiculous. The only reason it got 2 stars was because of the Chanel make up shop, LV and the perfume counter. The folks working these departments are fabulous. They are the only reason I come back to Saks. As for jackets or purses though, I'll take my money elsewhere. read more

I generally don't come to Saks' brick and mortar location because online shopping is so much easier. Recently I visited with a friend who was looking for Chanel cologne. The store is super clean and well staffed but generally uninspiring. That's not a fault of Saks itself but rather a result of the market and who the buyers are. I guess I have a sense of style or that is different from the rest of Columbus. They have a wide selection of Louis Vuitton and very few Gucci bags which are the ones that I think are awesome. The shoe dept seems smallish, but of course they have all the luxury brands, but most of the styles they carry are very practical with the exception of some Fluorescent yellow Prada pumps. The shining star of my visit was Natasha who was working in the perfume area. She was talking to my friend and I about Creed brand fragrances and she really knew her info. She was very patient and knowledgeable and very pleasant to deal with. read more

I love that Columbus has a Saks but I agree with the other reviews that the customer service here is not great... One employee in particular, I believe her name is Josselin (middle aged woman in contemporary clothing). To put it lightly, she is bad news. On the positive side, I have had great experiences with other employees and I love that they have little events with free cocktails, etc. Perfume counter is great. This store is hit or miss. This review is not about Saks in general, but rather about this particular Saks. The staff here is aloof and not very helpful, and since I can get most of the things that they sell here in other stores, I tend to do that. The location isn't convenient for me, but then again, neither are any of the stores at Polaris which is on the other side of the town. They have been helpful with charity events and I've noticed a great change in service then. I've been in looking at jeans and never approached by any staff, but when i was there at the Key to the Cure event, staff was very friendly and helped me find several pairs of jeans that met my requirements. I'm so glad that Columbus has a Saks, but they really need to work on their customer service to bring them in line with the other Saks locations I've visited. read more

I love that Columbus has a Saks Fifth Avenue...I just wish it wasn't at Polaris because that is not an area of town I frequent very much. But for Saks, I will make a special trip. The store is neatly arranged and has all of the high-end designer stuff that a girl could want! I typically go to Saks for cocktail dresses and I think their selection is quite good. It is on the second floor across from the bridal salon. The few times I have gone there looking for dresses to wear to weddings or other events, I have gotten excellent service. The salespeople are very friendly and are willing to help you search for the perfect dress. I have never had a problem with salespeople finding me my size, bringing me other dresses they select for me to try on back to the dressing room, or at the point of sale. Columbus is lucky to have a store like Saks and I can't wait to find an excuse to buy something else from there. read more

Coming from New York, I expected that the shopping in Ohio would be very so-so with limited selection on items and brands I've become accustomed to seeing living in the Big Apple. The Saks Fifth Avenue at Polaris is no exception (i.e. I really wanted to see if this location carried the Parisian brand The Kooples...they didn't). Fairly small departments with very limited selection. Oh, and if you're looking for a great Friend's and Family discount like in New York, where almost everything is discounted, you're out of luck. Many F&F exclusions at this location on most designer brands. However, on a better note, when I stopped in and asked to purchase a few garment bags for my wardrobe at home, the sales person gave them to me for free =)...so I would give this location a decent review based on the staff, but not so much the shopping... read more

I have such a good experience at this store during a visit to Columbus. The gentleman (willie?) in the men's clothing was very helpful and non intrusive to our experience. On our way through the fragrance counter I met Patrick Vincent. This man changed the way I look at fragrances. He was very helpful and very knowledgeable. The premier place to shop! Saks sets the bar high and really, nobody can even compare. They are the only game in town for brands like Chanel, Louis, Gucci, Prada, etc. This is where one goes to purchase incredible celebrity driven items at crazy prices. Is it amazing? Yes. Is it custom? Yes. They have several yearly sales and I often find myself here at these times and also when I want spend some money on a handbag--Gucci is my favorite. The sales staff is super attentive, as you can imagine. Almost to a fault. The parking is perfect and they even have valet. If you are in the "in crowd" you will get invited to events with the Cavs and the Browns, and it will be amazing--I only know this because my friend was here with this crowd. Sak's on 5th is a good clothing store for women. Iike coming in here and listening to the piano playing. I do hoever think that the clothes are extremely over priced for what you get in quality. I was referred to work with Helene, the personal shopper in the Fifth Avenue Club. I just moved to town and need clothes for what is known here as winter weather. Helene's ability to ask the right questions, helped make my experience so easy. When I arrived she had a fitting room prepared with all the items I needed. As we got to know each other it was like shopping with a well informed friend. Helene is candid, knowledgable and most of all friendly and kind. There was no pressure to buy the most expensive items, and when we reached my initial budget, she offered to email me when the additional pieces went on sale. I left the store happy and prepared for the cold weather. I'd recommend using her services ( it's a free program at Saks) to anyone who wants to be pampered and spoiled with excellent service. read more

Went to the Saks/Chanel makeup boutique to meet a friend getting a foundation session. Though I looked pretty casual in my jeans and sneakers, Christina Michele, the Chanel makeup artist came over and asked if she could help me find anything. She was so personable and knowledgeable about what colors would look great on me that before I knew it I was sitting in her chair getting a makeover! Christina (Tina) was so much fun and found the perfect blend of colors to make this 50-something feel beautiful! She explained how to apply everything in easy steps, and best of all she didn't try to push me into buying anything. She even found ways to simplify my routine with less products while making my brown eyes pop with just the right color layering and liner. Needless to say, I walked out with a bag of new products. :) I highly recommend looking up Tina at the Chanel counter up if you're ready for a refresh! Living in Ohio our options for upscale shopping is limited. The closest Neiman Marcus is near Detroit, a four hour trip for me and Chicago is the second closest location, a five - six hour dive. So Saks is what I depend on for most of my designer purchases. I have come to depend on a few select salespeople that know me at the Columbus Saks. I enjoy the personal attention and their willingness to go above and beyond to make sure I am completely satisfied. In particular, I want to acknowledge Katie in Chanel handbags and Amber Kish in La Prairie cosmetics. However, my last experience at the Columbus store was not up to the standard I have come to expect. I was there on the Saturday following Thanksgiving. I wanted to get my daughter started with La Prairie skin care which would require talking to someone who knows the products and could suggest items that would be appropriate for her particular needs. I contacted Amber before our visit to ask if she would be working that day. She told me she would not because of being on temporary medical disability but gave me the names of Jason or Maggie saying they should be able to help me. However, when we got there I was told both of them were off that day and nobody else in the entire cosmetic department knew anything about La Prairie. In the past, when Amber was off, I encountered associates that at least tried to help. On this particular day, I got the impression no one wanted to even bother to try and help us. I was prepared to spend hundreds of dollars that day. But I left not wanting to give this particular location my business and am inclined to find these products elsewhere in the future. I also want to add that my daughter is an Active Duty member in the Air Force and will be deploying in the spring to Djibouti for six months. My intent was to get a skin care plan together for her so I could buy things to send to her while she is serving our country half way around the world. read more

An associate named Lindsey helped me find the perfect shoes, plus some of what I wanted was out of stock so she personally found them for me in other locations, reserved them for me and got them shipped. She went above and beyond for me and even gave me her personal cell phone number to follow up. I will be shopping at this Saks location and with Lindsey as long as I am living in Columbus. I have had way to many bad experiences here. Here are a few. I asked a lady if they carried a certain brand of clothing and she said she didn't know and I would have to find someone else to ask. Not sure why she couldn't help me find someone, but that's not what I was upset about. As soon as I turn around after talking to the lady I see a HUGE display of the brand I was asking about. So while I was talking to the lady, she was literally looking at the sign. Terrible customer service. I am a designer handbag collector and purchased a $2500 Gucci bag here. It began to unravel after only a few months of use. I tried to return it to the Gucci department where they then said I had to wait 6 to 8 weeks for repair. When I asked for a manager, he had the audacity to ask me "what did you do to the bag?"!!!!! Really? This is not the type of customer service a consumer should receive from a high-end department store such as Saks. I demanded the bag to be exchanged for a new one or I would return it. I recommend that anyone shopping at the Saks Fifth Ave in Columbus, ask for Cindy from the men's dept. She is someone that's at the front door everytime I go in. I have never shopped with her before this last time, yet she knows all of our names, kids included, and always makes a point to stop and say hello and to get the kids all giggly, which is much needed before an hour of shopping!! Last week I was shopping for a bday gift for my husband. Cindy not only found the perfect thing that I never would have come up with on my own, but she was able to do it so quickly because she knows my husbands style from just seeing us and chatting briefly each time. I told her I needed someone like her in ladies items!! I was just thinking out loud and wishfully, but she informed me that she is able to help us in any department. Not only that, but that we could let her know ahead of time when we are coming up and she can pull together some different looks for us and have them ready in a fitting room when we arrive. Is this really happening!! Lol. She took note of our sizing and phone number and said that she will text us pics when any new "must haves" come in as well as txt reminders when the different promos or jewelry trunk shows come up (which by the way, you will be inspired by her outfits alone!) To top it all off, she sent me a text about an hour later saying that she knows we have a choice in who we do business with, so she really appreciated the fact that we chose Saks Fifth Avenue. This is service unlike anything I have experienced with any other company. Saks is very lucky to have someone like her representing their company; someone who genuinely goes above and beyond what's expected regardless if you have spent any money shopping with her or not. That is what stands out to me the most. Before ever shopping with her, she knew us by name and there was even a night previously where she had written down the names of a couple of good resturaunts in the city that we were about to be traveling to. If her managers are listening, she deserves a raise. I have and will continue to tell everyone I know about my experience with Cindy and try to send others her way, so they too can experience what I did. Sorry that this is not so much on the company itself as it is more about an outstanding asset they have in an employee. Saks always has good stuff to choose from and most of their employees are very pleasant. The only con is that I have to drive 20 minutes to get there, but it is always well worth it. read more
