I'm not the target audience for Saks. Oh, I love me my designer goods, and I love to spend money...but I also love food, drinking and traveling so much more. However, Saks (and Neimans) are like mecca to my mom, aunt and uncle. They come here so often that the sales staff know them by name. Remember their birthdays. Have their number on speed-dial. Needless to say, when I'm dragged along for a shopping trip (which isn't often - as my entire family deplores my Lady Gaga-esque fashion sense), I definitely don't fit in...but the staff here still tries to make me feel welcomed. Case in point, on our last trip here, my mother proceeds to buy a $1000 fur vest (which she will never wear). My uncle buys a $8000 laptop bag (for his $200 netbook...yes, ponder upon that for a moment). My aunt buys a $700 purse. Me? I found a pair of $20 jeans in the super-crazy-clearance-OMG-I-can't-believe-we-are-still-carrying-that-2-seasons-old-monstrosity rack. And yet...the sales staff treated me with the same courtesy and deference as they did my family (probably helped by the fact that my mother was lovingly whispering sweet nothings to a $2000 pashmina at the time). Yes, their products are definitely high-end and not for the average consumer, but considering the snooty attitude from many high-end luxury stores, I've been incredibly impressed with the customer service at this Saks! read more

I have purchased $ 702.00 Sunglasses over their website, when it arrived it was damaged so I returned it next day, It has been almost a month and several calls to customer service line and demanding my $$ back yet I have not received a penny to my credit card. I ordered some items at saks.com. One of the items, an eyeliner, did not work. I stopped by Saks to return, and they refused to take my eyeliner back because it was "used". Yes, true, I tried to use it, but the color did not come out. I am sorry, but if this were Nordstroms, they would have taken it back in a second. I found a fabulous pair of Christian Louboutin pumps but I'd rather take my business somewhere else, Neiman or Nordstrom -- what pity -- they lost a loyal customer over an eyeliner that cost less than $20. read more

How could I be so selfish and not mention the other departments? So here it goes. The rudeness does not only exist at the cosmetics counters, it extends throughout the whole store. Again, why is it that all Saks Fifth Avenue sales associates are so snooty and rude? I have been a SaksFirst member for years. I own the SaksFirst MasterCard. Their rewards program is AWESOME compared to other department stores (Nordstrom, Neimans, Bloomies) I have nothing but positive things to say when I shop at SFA ONLINE. However, walking into one their stores, especially the one in Maryland and Tysons Galleria, I am stared down by associates the moment I walk in. No hello. No assistance nothing. I'm a big girl, I don't need someone to hold my hand while I'm shopping but DAMN whats with the mean mug? I have let this go on many occasions. Yesterday, however, I've had enough. I spent hours in traffic. It was a long week at work. I was tired. Anyway, so I stood there in the shoe department, in front of the Christian Louboutin section to be exact, and NO ONE approached me. Instead, one associate was standing there on her cell phone. The other was chatting up a storm with her friend. There was no other customers there besides me, my mom and uncle. At first, I didn't even know they worked there. (Shows how professional their employees look)... After about 10 minutes of just standing there awkwardly, I chased down the one that just got off her phone. Note, I approached her. (Oh, and at this point she had to know I needed assistance since she was looking at me while she was talking on the phone earlier) ..... I asked her if they had these shoes in a 36.5. She went back to check. She came out, looked at me, without stopping, said we don't have it. And continued walking to the other associate. She didn't offer any other sizes or styles. I was fed up. Told my uncle and mom, let's go. I walked around Tysons Galleria for a bit then ultimately returned to Saks, since I drove all the way from MD. I didn't want to waste a trip especially all the horrid traffic I sat in on the way there. Put aside my feelings and walked back in the dreadful shoe department. Again, no one knew I was alive. Saw the same associate, chased her down AGAIN, because god forbid she approached a customer and asked if they need any assistance. Asked her if they had a 36. She said she would go back and look. She came out with a box, however, not for me. She handed it to another associate who was helping someone else. And started to chat up a storm while I was just standing their awkward again. She took her damn time. Finally she goes back again, and brings out the shoes. Couldn't she have looked for them with the other shoe she brought out earlier for someone else? I don't get it. I know a lot of you are thinking, why not go online? The shoes weren't in stock online. I have a gift card from Saks that I need to use by the end of the year. Otherwise, my ass would've been out of that store long ago. Not sure why all Saks associates are snobby. Is it because I'm Asian? Is it because I'm young? Am I supposed to wear designer from head to toe while I am shopping? Should I be decked out in rubies and diamonds? P.S. When I got home, I realized there was no heel taps in my box. Pish posh, oh my gosh! Take a look at the prices and you'll know why. The wife and I strolled in here close to closing time to pick up a new handbag for her (I have to bribe her for my bad habits!). The staff were rather friendly - I mean, while I expected the snootiness I sometimes get at Bloomingdale's, Saks didn't have any of that. Since it was only 15 minutes until they closed their doors, I was actually pleasantly surprised at the amount of patience we were afforded - I mean hell, when you come rolling in on me 15 minutes before it's quitting time for me, I probably won't be the friendliest guy out there. They even smiled and put up with my wife's indecision - "Should I get this one? How does it look? What about that one?" Consummate professionals - even the maintenance man escorted us out of the employee entrance after we completed our transaction. I certainly wouldn't mind spending more money here! read more

I bought several pieces of jewelry here. Less than 6 months later, one of the pearls had fallen out of one ring and another had broken. Spoke to an associate several days ago, she said she would speak with her manager and we may be able to swamp them out for new pieces. Went in tonight with both pieces, and she consults her manager. After speaking with her, she says "We will fix it for you." About 30 minutes of seemingly redundant paperwork given that both pieces were same manufacturer, etc. she gives me two receipts. She then says we will call you once we get a quote from the manufacturer and let you know how much it will be. Then she says, that's why it takes 3-5 weeks to get them repaired, my first time hearing this timeline. Everything i know about both sales and service were completely disregarded in this entire process, most importantly the associate wasted my time, made an erroneous claim in our first interaction that got me to come back in today, and did not do the most important thing which is set expectations up front. Bottom line, i love Saks and I hate this store. I put almost everything i buy on my Saks MasterCard. read more

Dear Saks Men's Department, I can't tell you how lucky you are that Dante D. has joined your team. My husband's metrosexual side has secretly always wanted a stylist to put some looks for him together but always felt like he had to spend a fortune and didn't really know where to start. Enter Dante, who is the absolutely the friendliest, nicest salesperson in retail we have ever encountered. This specific Saks has some very snobby sales people and we have stayed away in the past and taken our money elsewhere. My husband was lucky to have Dante working one afternoon and came home all excited on how 'there was this awesome sales guy who helped me pick a great suit". I was intrigued and had to meet him. Sure enough, I was thrilled to meet a Saks sales person who makes ALL his customers feel special - whether they come to see him in sweat pants or an Armani suit. That's how I can describe Dante's aura. The story has a happy ending: my husband finally splurged on a multi outfit wardrobe ($$) because Dante put him together and now my hubby looks like a total fox. And Dante helped us do it with a mix of staples and post holiday sales racks. Gents - go seek him out! Nice, conscientious of budget, and super stylish as well. read more

This review is for an employee named Kolby that works at this Saks location. I had an issue with a Saks online order and I was charged $100 more than I should have been. I spent 15 minutes trying to explain this to another employee and that woman just couldn't process all the numbers I was telling her so she could see the issue. Then along comes Kolby, I tell her what happened and what should have have been the case and she says OH I SEE WHAT YOU MEAN, I CAN DO THAT! She fixed the issue in less than 5 minutes! She was amazing! If every employee at Saks was as amazing as Kolby, Saks could be right up there with Nordstrom! Saks should not be okay with hiring a woman as incompetent as the first one I spoke to. If you can't subtract $175 from $1495 without panicking, there's an issue. Long story short, Kolby is the only reason I would go back to this Saks and she's probably one of the few reasons Saks hasn't gone out of business altogether. read more

Hope this is the right place to review this: Saks Fifth Avenue Spa. Very good experience, very clean and I was treated very well. When you enter the Spa after checking in you help you self to a beverage (when I was there they had water, iced tea, lemonade, hot coffee, hot-water and a wide assortment of tea bags.) I had a pedicure with Lee, and loved it. As a side not my mother has been seeing Lee since she was over at the now closed Estee Lauder Spa in the other Tysons (was in Bloomies) and said she felt the soaking chairs jets were much better over there. I highly recommend the pedicure at the Spa. Price was 50+ tax, but worth it knowing the cleanliness standards. read more

Saks is a great store! The staff is friendly and helpful. Is it expensive? Yes, but remember this is high end shopping for investment pieces that you will own and wear for years to come. In my opinion, Saks ranks fourth behind Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf, and Nordstrom. They have great selections and unbelievably patient and friendly sales associates, but are missing the little extra panache of Neiman's. of course I would say that - I'm from Dallas! Seriously, a great place to shop. I stop in usually after a visit to Neiman's just to see whats new. It's never a let down. If you're looking for high quality items, don't forget Sak's. read more

Customer service is extremely good. Their return policy is standard for an upscale store - they take returns without receipt for store credit. For the bridal department, the service is great. They allow you to view all dresses that they have in stock and pick out all what you want to try on. They have large dressing rooms and robes. PLUS: They allow you to take pictures, which I think is a HUGE plus for bridal shopping. I don't want to purchase at a salon that does not allow photography because really, what the heck are you protecting with that policy? All the designer dresses have pictures of their collection on the internet. The sales people do not rush you and are honest about their opinion. At no point did they ask how much I wanted to spend, which I think was an expected question at most salons, and I think it's more polite. read more

I had the worst nightmarish experience with Saks just this June 2017. I have been shopping with them for years and it was very pleasant with great customer service- with Vasco Korankye. Until he was there with Saks, it was like I had a friend who could help me thru any issues with shoes/bags/accessories-name it. But in June 2017, when I had an issue with a Valentino shoe- and Vasco was no longer working with Saks, I had to reach out to a manager to explain about the issue I had...it was the worst customer service-EVER!!!! My shoe was too tight, and I have worn this shoe for 15 min tops-the Manager named- Kolby spoke with me over the phone and she was so not helpful and to top it all- she was RUDE. I wish Vasco was here still. I am NEVER going back to Saks in Mclean again. She advised me to go and sell my shoe off to some consignment store/s since they won't help me. Makeup section needs to get it together. A young lady on the 23rd around 8 from the Dior counter lied and told me Genifique by Lancôme (the 1oz) was $105 (she pretended to ring it up, it was actually $78). Then she preceded to talk me into spending 150 instead for a 75$ gift card & tried to drag me over to Dior. By that point it was too late for me to even make my original purchase since it was a surprise for my mom, so I ended up walking away empty handed. I will no longer purchase makeup in person from a department store unless I know the employee first hand. I don't like to be swindled. read more

I stumbled in here as I was looking for a specific Maison Martin Margiela Candle. They did not have it, but the ladies at the fragrance counter were very diligent in showing me different candles that may have been of interest. I ended up purchasing a Malin+Goetz candle which smelled AMAZING. They had so many different scents to choose from. The sales associate who helped me was awesome. She gave me so many samples and was so knowledgeable about the Malin+Goetz products. Not to mention that the candle burns wonderfully and the smells easily permeates my apartment. read more

My son and I walked into the Tyson's Galleria and were promptly ignored by at least four employees. It was a weekday and there were only a few people in the entire store. I finally got the attention of a sales associate and informed her that I had a return. She said I needed to go to the return desk. I went to the return desk where another SA (Honey) was assisting people. Honey processed two returns and then informed me that I would have to go to the cosmetics counter to make my return. I informed her that they sent me to her. She then said "I don't work here" and walked away. The people she helped were white. But apparently Honey didn't work there when it came to helping Black people. I then went back to the cosmetics counter where again a group of folks were standing around and not assisting anyone. I again had to get someone's attention despite everyone looking right at us. Given the horrible service we asked the original SA her name and she replied "why?" I later found out her name was Minky. I've shopped at Tyson's Galleria on many occasions and never been subjected to such horrible customer service. I will now have to process my return online. Not only will I never shop there again, I'll make sure to tell my friends and family about the experience. read more

The salespeople only greet a select few customers (?), and evidently the rest aren't even worth imparting eye contact. Saks has really gone downhill since they were acquired by Hudson's Bay. They now get you with their "final sale" scheme, which if you are not used to seeing at a luxury department store -- something I have never seen at any other department store -- and buy something on a whim, you may be stuck with a useless, luxury piece of something in your closet. read more

Horrible. My partner and I went to look for a suit for him and a dress for myself. We went to the mens section and where harassed by a mens department salesman. He was very rude and literally followed us from section to section not saying a word and watching our every move. He followed us all the way to the exit and stood in the entryway watching us walk away. I am positive he though we where stealing even though my partner makes more in a week than that racist idiot makes in a month. Will never shop there again. Horrible customer service. I went in to check out sunglasses & the SA refused to acknowledge me. I literally just wanted advice since I was stuck between two sunglasses so I had to WALK UP TO HIM, ask him for his advice & he more so looked annoyed than willing to help. He did tell me which ones he liked more but he didn't seem genuine. Honestly why did I even bother? Later on my boyfriend & I were looking for the YSL handbag section & when we ask two SA's {that were just standing there talking to each other} they just stared us down as if we were talking in a different language that they couldn't understand. I also looked around in the shoe section & no one bothered to ask if I needed any help. This place just needs to fire all their SA's & hire a new management team along with new SA's. Staff is the very very rude and did not offer a solution but just keep complaining the costomer! I went to the Salon and had my haircut at the sax's fifth in tysons corner, worst haircut I ever had. It would've been better just to stay home and buzz my hair, I ended up not paying because it was so bad but they did give me the run around of "what's wrong with it". They didn't even make the sideburns even, the back looks like two seperate sections instead of blending in, and the sides have minor spots that she cut too much even after I had her stop there's no repair to this, I'll have to wait for a few weeks to let it grow out but right now I'm going shopping for a hat....boo sax's fifth I expected more for what you charge. I ordered moderately expensive ($2K) earrings on 6/1/20 from a Saks associate. I specifically requested a gift box with a note. I received the earrings on 6/4/20 via mail order (even though I had expected these to be sent to the local Saks store) WITHOUT gift wrapping or a note. I immediately contacted the sales who was very apologetic, but did nothing to fix the error. So, 24 days later, I had to go out and buy a gift box to deliver a beautiful anniversary gift. Saks did nothing even though it would have been so easy to send a nice give box with the short note inside directly to me during those 3.5 weeks!!! When I complained to the sales associate, she was very apologetic again and the store manager offered a gift card which I declined. Saks just doesn't get the fact that they are an upscale store that needs to provide first class customer service, not try to "bribe" customers to ignore the poor service. I must admit, I never would have found this beautifully luxurious and quaint spa hidden away in Tysons Galleria if it weren't for my long time manicurist, Amy Mrad. I wasn't happy with the location she was in but her services were well worth the inconvenience. I was more than pleased when we had our regular visit in her new location, Saks Fifth Avenue Spa. The spa was very clean and relaxing and the service was fantastic, it made me remember why I began going to Spa's in the first place. Amy gives the most incredibly relaxing, thorough and honestly the best quality pedicure I have ever witnessed. Not to mention her warm smile and patient ears have seen me through lots of disasters and smiles with impeccable nails the entire time. Between the wonderful chats and pedicures with Amy and magnificent massages with Cindy I dare anyone to walk away from this place without a carefree, well-pampered smile spread straight across your face :) definitely worth a visit! read more

A nice big store with lots of quality products. However, this stalker clerk wouldn't leave me alone to sell me something I didn't want. I had a particular need for a sports coat that they obviously didn't have. Stalker woman didn't care and aggressively tried to get be to buy something else and steered me to the Armani and Hugo Boss sections that were clearly much higher in price and didn't meet my needs. Sheesh. When she finally disappeared to go find another thing I didn't want, I booked out of there. Ahhhh, one day when my bonus pay is such that after taxes and my 401k take away, it doesn't EAT UP the bonus pay itself...but now I've given you TMI. Moving on...After not finding anything worthy at Neimans to give to my boss for Xmas, I shuffled over to Saks. I had shopped the men's section before, but this time, I went to the home decor section. I spent way too much time looking at EVERY piece, hunting that *perfect* gift, when I finally decided on a chic-chic vase. Done. Wrap that bad boy up and let's keep it moving to Anthro (for me!). When I got home, I realized that the *perfect* gift had been thrust into some brown "Made in China" box littered with little holes. Ugh. Garbage. How could Saks do that me? And why wasn't I paying attention to this when I was paying for it? So, I went back the next night and said the gift, a McKenzie Childs piece, looked like a knock-off in that box. The sales lady, a charming Eastern European lady, agreed wholeheartedly w/me. She scoffed at the box and gift and found me a beautiful bowl by the same maker. And when she told me the gift didn't come in a matching McKenzie Childs box, she hunted down the perfect box just for me. She labored hard over creasing the tissue paper just right and making the gift look like a Saks gift. Presentation is key! So, with my great gift-giving reputation intact, I give Saks 5 stars for excellent service. Woo Hoo, Saks! read more
