I really enjoy shopping at this store because the customer service is out of this world! I appreciate the luxury brands and their vignettes to highlight their brand selections. Great selection of fragrances which is important to me. The store doesn't feel as upscale as the Beverly Hills location which I'm used to shopping at. I don't stop into Saks Palm Desert often--usually just for special occasions--but every time I do, the experience stands out for all the right reasons. Most recently, I was helped by Patricia W., and her service was truly excellent. I don't have a relationship with the staff, but I've always found everyone here to be consistently professional, welcoming, and respectful. Patricia was no exception. She was warm, helpful, and made the whole process easy and enjoyable. I had stopped in to pick up a small retirement gift, and once again, the complimentary gift wrapping was a huge plus. This Saks in the El Paseo shopping area in Palm Dessert is much smaller than many other Saks Fifth Avenue stores, but the friendly and attentive store associates make shopping here a much more enjoyable experience than many other locations. Their offerings are mainly cosmetics and fragrances, women's clothes & accessories, and a small collection of men's apparel. The front entrance of the store off El Paseo is beautifully landscaped, but a drawback is that the front entrance is a bit cumbersome and lengthy for entry. If I could give a ZERO to the ALTERATIONS department I would. They are good for hemming but if you need any other work done on an evening gown DO NOT go here. I went for the first fitting and things were not fitting right- the work that needed to be done had not been done- and after their second attempt they simply ruined it to the point that the dress no longer fits properly- Awful. I "love" how... when you search for Saks Fifth Avenue, you get their general profile. NOT their SAKS for each location like Beverly Hills, Palm Desert & Orange County... oh no! It's a composite review for all of them. Each store should be addressed differently and have their own Yelp profile. After all, each SAKS location, appeals to an entirely separate & completely regional type of clientele. Apparently this company refuses to separate their reviews by store location. This particular store in Palm Desert is particularly steered toward women 70, 75, 80 and older. I can't seem to get away from brands like Retrofete, Khaite, Aje, Andamane, Atelier Versace, BA&SH, Badgley Mischka, Baum und Pferdgarten, ByTiMo, Carolina Herrera, Chiara Boni, Chloe, Derek Lam 10 Crosby, Dodo Bar Or, Eberjey, Emilio Pucci, Escada, Etro, Farm Rio, Gottex Swimwear, ILA, JW Anderson, Lanvin, LoveShackFancy, Marchesa Notte, MISA Los Angeles, MUNTHE, PatBO, RHODE, & Saloni. Every single one of these brands I've either purchased an item from the line or have tried some of the articles from that season's collection. I've tried again and again and with NO success to be able to bring these brands into my wardrobe wholeheartedly but they all make me look 30 years older. I don't want to look 30 years older. We are ALL going to get there one day... god willing... but why should I rush it and dress like an 80 year old before I'm 80??? I realize that Palm Desert is a seasonal place and most of the clientele will already have their outfits figured out before coming to the Coachella Valley for the season... However (!).. it gets old when you want to see what a particular brand is doing, up close and personal, and the only thing you can do is look at the collection online. Some of the collections will be in its completion like Zimmerman and LaDoubleJ...however several brands are missing signature pieces in the current collection as displayed at the store level. I'm far too young to wear the brands mentioned previously. It makes for a very difficult shopping experience to shop at SAKS ..pretty much anywhere there is a SAKS. I am not buying full length sequined dresses nor do I want to look ancient. I can't even stand the sequined look anymore. It's a look that is over and done with and should be relegated to hollywood starlets or starlet wannabe's. I've become more conservative as the years have droned on, but I am by no means ready to wear clothes that are designed to look good on 80 year olds! read more

Had an amazing experience at this location! Was told by an associate who worked in the purse department (Gergenes I believe), at which the shoe department associate was not aware of. She is the friendliest woman and always has the same warm, genuine welcoming demeanor. I like that she always makes sure that I find what I need and if it's not immediately available- she goes above and beyond! She is an angel! I also appreciate the respect and assistance that I get whether I'm in for a quick pick up or looking to explore and shop! I come back because I know that Anastasia will take good care of me! As will the others from JoMalone and Acqua di Parma associates! Who will also always give me as long as I need to decide what I want with no pressure, they are quick to share promotions and recommendations but never obnoxious or intrusive- reason why I love shopping here. What happened to Saks Fifth Avenue ? I worked for them 18 years and what I experienced at the Palm Desert store was humiliating. Saks is where you are supposed to feel listened to and catered to when buying something for a special occasion. Today I looked online for a vendor thar Saks sells. I found the vendor section but when I asked Pearl for help. I got scolded and asked what Saks location I needed. I said this one Palm Desert. I didn't want off 5th She asked me the same question again It was so weird. I wasn't in the wrong place. I only wanted to know if they had the item in stock. She walked me over to the section and said look for it. Thank god another associate heard and offered to help. Times for retail are bad. I was planning to spend at least 1000 dollars. While, they seem to carry some beautiful merchandise, their service is unacceptable. First we were so a pair of men's shoes that retailed at $850 and had a nail sticking up out of them. When my husband wore the replacement pair, and they were very uncomfortable, that only did the sales personally refuse the return, he said all the managers were on conference calls, and would not speak to us. As a full time resident of Palm Desert, I know how hard it is to get good help. It's why a lot of businesses fail here. That being said, the older, white haired sales lady that works in the contemporary woman's wear downstairs by the exit doors is insufferable. I have been in THREE times to browse through the Cinq a Sept section and she leeches on to me and even when I tell her I'm just looking, she stares and stands WAY too close, making me completely uncomfortable and I end up leaving quickly. I'm trying to find a dress for a wedding and I purposely go alone (without friends) because I want to not feel rushed or have anyone I need to speak with or share opinions about certain clothing with. This woman makes me completely uncomfortable and I just end up leaving. She is not friendly either, just irritating. When they fire her, I'll come back and hopefully give 5 stars. read more

Order placed online at saks fifth ave on 7/12/2024 for the amount of $1,163. 1-black purse, 1-white purse, one black fanny pack and 1 black DG sandal. On 7/17 order received however only two items were received. 1-Black fanny pack and 1-black purse. The two additional items were missing. Shipment received with light socket to plug adapter and men's large crew socks- cotton blend, not ordered. 7/17/2024, initial phone call placed to Saks Fifth Ave and the missing items were reported, pictures sent to the customer service rep via email. 7/18, second call placed to Saks regarding status of replacing items or refund, was told this would have to be handled by the financial department and it would take 10-15 business days. 7/24, 3rd call placed to saks and the issue remains the same and was told it would be escalated back to the financial department. 4th call placed on 8/9, no resolution. 5th call placed today 8/21 case financial has approved the request however, the funds are not released. As of today, Saks Fifth Ave owes me $1,102. Please help. read more

Horrible! Bought a Michell watch wore it ounce it pitted and it was very noticeable after one time wearing it. They were not at all nice even with 2 of the store managers coming over. They said they couldn't do anything after wearing it one day! They said if I bought the watch with diamonds it wouldn't show up. They said I should take it to a jewelry store and have it buffed off at my expense,after wearing it ounce. They were horrible and I shop there a lot! No more and other people said that was crazy! Though I have enjoyed shopping at the men's department at Saks 5th Avenue on El Paseo many times during past trips, today was a major let down. An older, well dressed gentleman by the name of Andy could not have been more rude and haughty. When I asked where the dressing rooms were he pointed aggressively to the other side of the department in a gesture that almost emulated a Hitler salute. Since the dressing rooms were locked, I had to seek him out to unlock the room, during which he muttered "they're usually unlocked." All this while not apologizing for the inconvenience or offering to take the garments I was trying on and hang them for me. He may have been well dressed, but his demeanor and lack of gentility and basic customer service etiquette was unacceptable. Certainly makes me think twice about returning if that's the caliber of staff Saks is employing lately. read more

Had a great experience in this location browsing for more blouses. Somehow, this location had plenty of print/color options in my favorite lines. The staff are helpful and pleasant. Although this location is small, I like that it is very easy to find anything and I have found that each time we shop here the attention and service is outstanding. It's usually not that busy so I am very surprised by the negative reviews. I find the salespeople tripping over each other to be friendly and helpful. I have never had a problem waiting for help and in fact have really enjoyed some very animated conversations while shopping. Great place to pick up a nice gift for someone special. Dropped by the make up counter because I was curious about La Mer and seriously considering buying it. It was like the scene from pretty woman . The sales woman's vibe was so condescending. I love this store and so glad it is still here and in business. Saks is an institution and this isn't San Diego, Beverly Hills or San Francisco etc... Although we are a resort community close to Los Angeles that attracts celebrities and money we are still a smaller community. Having said that, this store has the elegance and the ambiance of any of the larger high end stores that are out there. Selection here is great so I don't agree with some of the one star reviews on here. As for customer service, it is hit or miss here JUST LIKE ANYWHERE ELSE!! Let's face it, customer service everywhere has gone downhill. Every place you go people are obsessed with their cell phones & even sit in traffic on the phone, drive in traffic on the phones and don't care! The staff is so disrespectful, I saw people who came in after me and were immediately greeted and helped. This place is straight up racist. I exercised/walked to Saks to buy a new pair of sunglasses. Needless to say, I was not dressed up but in exercise gear. I walked into Saks and went straight to the sunglass department, picked up the sunglasses and waited near the cash wrap to pay for them. There were two sales associates who were both fawning over and chatting with two well dressed women. The women did not appear to be purchasing anything but had both sales associates fully engaged. So, I stood there and waited. When the two well dressed women finally departed, I thought, "Oh good, it's my turn." I stood there and stood there, feeling invisible waiting to purchase the Chanel sunglasses. After nearly 20 minutes had passed, I finally placed the sunglasses on the counter and walked out. Regina in the shoe department was wonderful - attentive - not pushy - and very helpful. She even offered me a fashion tip on a pair of shoes that I never would have thought on my own - think rolled up striped socks and jeans with my new vintage looking Fendi open-toe shoes! I have bought two pair of shoes at SAX Fifth Ave in Palm Desert that, frankly, I would not have indulged in if I was at home. Still, they are two of my favorite pairs and they are forever shoes.
