RUUUDDDEE!!! I've been to this store multiple times and never had an issue but today everyone must have been in a horrible mood because customer service was at an all time low. I went to check out and I over heard the lady tell the gentleman that the vip wasn't working. He tried it and confirmed it didn't work. I asked does that mean I don't get my points and she said no. Wouldn't you let the customer know so that can choose how they want to maneuver. So I asked if I call customer service will they add my points ( I had about $150 in merch). She said she didn't know and asked the other lady. She said "if vip isn't working will she be able to get her points" she said NO. She then said she'd have to call customer service. I said that's what she's asking and her rude response was "I didn't hear her say customer service" (insert deep eye roll), then said did you want them? I said no and left. read more

Walked back in to return shoes and rebuy them and was told could not use coupon as brand was excluded. Went online brand is NOT excluded and I could have paid $20 less for them if the check out person knew how to do their job. The worst thing about this store is the hypochondriac that works at the cash register. She is rude and unfriendly. Any time you have a return she sprays it down with this chemical spray. She's the only one wearing a mask in the store so that's all you you need to know. I asked her if it was necessary that she spray the shoes and she said she doesn't know where the shoes have been. Well, she should spray all of the shoes that people try on in the store if she's worried about getting sick. She showed me her dry hands that are due to her washing her hands 20 times a day. Ridiculous. She couldn't get my shoes returned in the system and didn't offer me any alternatives at the moment, so I told her I would leave and come back. I will not go back to her for assistance. I did not appreciate her attitude, slamming my phone on the counter after getting the order number off it and slamming the box of shoes as well. This is an incredible shoe store. They have a tremendous selection of shoes to choose from. From casual to dressy. And they also carry a huge collection of socks plus a few hats and bags. I have purchased many shoes here over the years and have been very happy with their products. All the shoes are in stacks so you have all the sizes already out in the store so the salesperson does not have to continually have to walk in the back to grab a pair for you to choose from. It's a self serve type of store so you don't have a salesperson breathing down your neck and pressuring you to buy. I like that because it makes shoe shopping a very relaxed and pleasant experience. read more

4 stars for the store itself. Very nice and clean. One store associate (I believe her name is Monica), was very rude and needs more training on how to talk to customers. If you are going to wear a face mask, please speak louder and don't be rude when the customer can't hear you when it's their turn to checkout, especially if you are not making eye contact. When asked for a phone number, I said I don't believe I have one with you. Before finishing my sentence I was cutoff and told "you never know and it's not like your phone number is going to be used for anything else." When I was able to speak again without being cutoff I gave it and was told "see you are in the system, I don't know why it's so hard to give a number to check." The men's shoe clearance section was pitiful on my visit in Feb 2018. Size 9: there were 8 pairs of shoes on the shelf. Really? The store is laid out and stocked exactly like all other DSW stores. Same inventory, same prices. 94% of the merchandise is women's shoes. Guys, go over to the Nordstrom rack for a better selection of sale shoes. read more

This location is great for women's shoes, but just "so so" for men's shoe selection, including the clearance rack. I just don't understand why the selection for men is so bad. After several fruitless searches elsewhere, we ended up at DSW. And so the shoe-search marathon continues.(jeez, that's a tongue twister, just try saying that fast 3 times!) After yet another 1/2 hour of searching to no avail, the patient salesperson, Mary, coaxed my wife into bringing her outfit into the store so she could coordinate the unusual color and vintage look. She escorted her up and down many aisles searching for the right shoe. It just *had* to be the right pair as the event is very important to my wife. With her keen eye, Mary zeroed in on a shoe that was absolutely perfect. With the deadline for the event looming and the frustration level rising, Mary deftly stepped in and made everything better. I went to buy shoes before Christmas. I only wore the shoes half a day because they were not supportive. I went back and asked for a return and they said no because the sole was used up. I only wore them one time half a day and I put them back in the box. The manager was rude and defensive. She told me I was supposed to ask for the return policy when I bought them. She showed me the sign where it says about the policy and it was hidden behind a box by the register where no one can see it. I told her that it's their job to communicate their return policy to every customer since it's a shoe place. They didn't help me at all. When I walked away the manager was saying stuff to other coworkers in front of other customers. It was handled unprofessionally. I even called their main number and they were clueless. I spent over $100 on the shoes! I will never go there again. Their customer service is horrible as well. You have to be chasing someone to help you. read more

I purchased a pair of Lucky Brand ballerinas at this store at the beginning of April. After wearing them about three times, the sole started to separate on the right shoe. There are absolutely no other signs of wearing the shoes except the defect. When I tried to return them a month later noticing the problem, I was told they couldn't give me a refund or even exchange the shoes (I like the style, fit and comfort so much that I was going to take my chances with another pair) and I should go and dispute my issue with Lucky Brand. Well, the manufacturer doesn't have my money, DSW does, so obviously they won't do anything. DSW should be the one handling these problems directly with the distributor. Now I'm out of $53 for wearing something three times. I can return heavily worn shoes/any merchandise to REI by just saying I am not happy. DSW is passing the buck on a clearly obvious defect. The service here is genuinely bad. Not one person greeted me upon entrance or for the next 20 minutes spent trying on shoes. I even lingered near staff to see if anyone would acknowledge me-nope. The two cashiers were so busy chatting with each other no one noticed me waiting in line. I had to walk up to a register and plop my purchases down to be noticed. Still no greeting of 'hi, how are you?' I figured I'd at least get a 'have a nice night' after completing my purchase, but alas, none. All this could have probably been avoided had there been one adult working. The entire store was staffed by 18 year old girls who couldn't care less about customer service. read more

We just spent 2 hours in this store shopping and at check out the sales clerk noticed one of the pair of shoes on clearance that I was buying were different sizes. She went to see if they had them in clearance to make a match and they did not. So obviously one of their store clerks had already not did their job right and sold a mismatch pair. Though there were no matches for this pair she still wouldn't sell them to me. In addition to this pair I was spending about $200 on shoes in this store and she would not sell me a clearance pair of mismatched shoes for $12. Really???? Her and Joanna the manager on duty should get raises for sticking to their ridiculous store policy. But then should be reprimanded for their shitty attitudes and loosing s $200 sale on a pair of shoes they now can not sell cause of said policy. DSW has so many shoes that you are bound to find what you need. I did! I was looking for some sandals as I forgot to bring shoes on my recent trip; I found so many pairs. I got there and found my shoe size however the shoes on the box is the WRONG COLOR, soo went to asked this lady told her that the shoes on the box is wrong. She said that someone tried it on and switch it, Oh wow!! So I told her that I saw it online that the store have it instock and I can order it online and I can pick it up in 4 hours. So she didn't know to answer me, she decided to call this girl name Heidi!! She said that the inventory online is not always correct that they have it instock.. I have always liked DSW, I usually shop at the La Quinta store. I accidentally called the Palm Desert store yesterday looking for a shoe that they had on their website. The girl who assisted me was really so great. It ended up they didn't carry that specific shoe in store only online but she took the time to go look for similar styles for me, she found 3 that looked pretty close and gave me the names and styles so I could see them online before I drove over. She also gave me prices and made sure to let me know they had my size. I ended up actually buying the ones online after I saw the choices in the store, they were the same naturalizers that I had tried on and loved at Macy's, the price at Macy's $69.99 the price online DSW 49.99 plus $10 so I saved $30. Overall I really had a nice experience again at DSW thanks to their helpful employee....wish I'd have caught her name!!! read more

One of my favorite shoe stores in the Coachella Valley! Thumbs up for the clearance section! The only problem I had with this location was with one of their employees. She offended me by starring at my friends that accompanied me as if we were trying to steal something, when in reality, we were the only ones purchasing merchandise in the store. I wish I would have gotten her name, but she was a blonde woman with glasses around the ages of 40 - 55. Overall, I love this store.
